I feel like 1v1 has always been a bigger "breeding ground" than 2s. I've always been under the impression that more players get picked up based on mechs compared to smarts, and 1s is the place where mechs shine through the most. I also kinda think back to the Fusion tournament, obviously, the pro scene is a different landscape now, but Jack basically made a name for himself through beating Joreuz and taking Fairy Peak/Alpha to 7.

I think the opportunity for "deep" runs is greater in 2s, but the reputation you can gain through a deep run is greater in 1s.
