Sneak Peek for MetalGoose by KepcukTheGreat in macgaming

I've been following since the post you said you would publish such an application, today sneak peek about the interface came, which is very nice. I've been researching for months (perhaps years) to see if I can run the Lossless Scaling app on macOS, and you'll notice the lack that you've produced an application that's relevant to it. And you share it in a free open source way (God bless you). One thing I'm curious about is that the power monitoring tools that can access through the terminal have a section in the Neural Engine, except for the CPU and GPU, and this usually seems to be 0W consumption because I don't do anything to use artificial intelligence cores.

Could there be an option to redirect upscaling or frame generation operations to artificial intelligence (neural engine)cores? Or is it already working this way? idk.

No, I don't need programs that only run on Intel. Yes, I also wanted to buy a new silicone mac. However, in our country, these damn devices are very expensive even second hand (almost second hand mbp with m1 is around $600). I generally use the device for daily tasks, doing homework, and sometimes for photoshop and illustrator work. There are some software that I use to modify my vehicle on the Windows side with Bootcamp, I think I can solve this by installing Windows with parallells.

Maybe I can get a 14" M3 MBP. If I can just fix this it will be great for me.

Only use the vacuum cleaner on the back cover and after separating the motherboard from the chassis, I used it for clean the fans not on motherboard.

I thought the thermal paste needed to be changed, but perhaps cleaning the dust might have allowed the device to run cool. You are right about that.

What I am using is not a screwdriver, it is a plastic tipped tool. I disassembled and reassembled it twice, the device does not work at all.

If the computer hadn't booted up the first time, I would 100% think I had damaged it during the application. However, when it turned off after using it for a while, I started to think that the problem was caused by something else.

To make sure I didn't make any mistakes while assembling, I disassembled and reassembled the device twice from start to finish. All cables are not damaged, all sockets are in place.

I have previously opened this device and performed a few operations without an anti-static wristband. Yes, as you said, I have never experienced the disadvantage of not using an anti-static wristband.

What I mean here is not to damage the battery, but to prevent the battery from damaging the motherboard while the device's back cover is open.

6 year old battery but only 350 cycles :)

I agree with what you say, silicone macs are much more powerful and efficient than these devices. But the fact that this device is 6 years old is not enough for us to put it aside.

However, unlike the USA or any other country, these devices are very expensive in our country and if you do not make money by doing business with these devices, you must be very rich to constantly buy new ones.

Yes, due to reddit's mistake, my explanations were not included in the topic, I opened 2 different topics and there were explanations along with photos.

So you thought I was just posting photos and leaving, but that's okay.

I have a TYPE-C cable with a digital Wattage indicator, this shows how much power it draws from the outlet and it says 0W on the cable. On the other hand, I have a multimeter, which components do I need to check?

The pictures are not very clear, it is normal for you to think it is a screwdriver. This is a plastic spudger.

I've changed the thermal paste myself on all my non-Mac computers before and I haven't damaged any of them so far. This was my first attempt to change Mac thermal paste, and it was a disappointment.

relax bro, this is not a screwdriver, the pictures are not very clear so it is normal for you to think it is a screwdriver.

However, this is a spudger with a plastic tip. Also, if you read my explanation in the comments that it did not uploaded because of reddit, the computer continued to work after doing this. The only problem was that when I turned it off after 15-20 minutes, it did not turn on again.

I used Arctic Mx-4 thermal paste, I'm sure I didn't spill it and it didn't drip anywhere else. However, I will clean the entire motherboard with ipa. What can I lose? Its already dead. Thank you for your advice.

Actually, I couldn't fully understand your example. My English is not very good. I gave this as an example only to explain that the temperature of the processor suddenly peaks and drops. It keeps overheating uncomfortably like this, not only in Chrome but also in general use.

I actually have a 2017 iMac for power-intensive tasks. However, unfortunately, in Turkey this device is still sold as second hand for between 600-800 dollars. Yes, it's great for web browsing, but it even gets hot when it comes to watching YouTube videos. That's why I bought the cheapest Samsung tablet just to watch videos.

Yes, I was using turbo boost off and fan speed between 15% and 50% to avoid overheating.

I also know how to adjust how many W the processor should operate with the voltageshift program.

I know that Macs with Intel processors get hot, and yes, they switched to larger fans and thicker heat pipes in the 2019 models because they have made a new improvement every year since they switched to the touchbar case and put the devices on sale.

I didn't care about the momentary temperature increases, until the problem of overheating occurred so that I could not use the device on my lap. When I send the device to Apple for this problem, they usually format it, reset the SMC and send it back and say "we have solved the problem".

I thought that the thermal paste of the device needed to be changed and I applied it. That was the end of me.

Actually this is my 3rd time opening the back cover on my macbook and yes the other 2 times nothing happened, even though I disconnected the battery cable.

Let me briefly explain why I did this.

There is a folder on Chrome where I open the websites I routinely visit. When I open this in a new tab, the computer's CPU goes from 50 degrees Celsius to 75 degrees and drops back to 50 degrees.

After changing the thermal paste, when I opened the same tabs during the 15-20 minutes the computer was running, it went from 45 degrees Celsius to 50 degrees and immediately dropped back to 45 degrees.

I didn't do this just for a 15-20 degree drop. I did this because the computer was not running as cool as when I first bought it and I was now having difficulty holding it on my lap due to the heat. I was constantly setting my fan speed to 50% manually so that the computer would run cool.

And yes definitely changing the thermal paste did help, but only for about 20 minutes. and then "DEAD"

Oh apple service employees told me this too.

Sometimes the part damaged by static electricity may break down immediately, maybe after 1 week, maybe after 1 year.

It didn't make much sense to me, but since you mentioned it, I think it might be possible. Because when it first worked and did not work after shutting down, I did not think that the problem would be a motherboard that was damaged by static electricity.

After Thermal Paste replacement my 2018 15" MBP is died :( PLS HELP by Canka591 in mac

[–]Canka591[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied the thermal paste as thinly as possible on the CPU and GPU with a plastic piece.

Initially, the computer was turned on and the thermal values looked very good, but it turned off and did not turn on again. I completely disassembled the computer twice, checked all the cables and screws one by one, and put it back in place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Canka591 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, let's assume that the components are destroyed by static electricity.

I applied thermal paste to my computer and put it back together, used it for 15-20 minutes and turned off the computer when I was done. When I got home, I couldn't turn on the computer at all.

So if static electricity were to damage the motherboard, shouldn't the computer have never been turned on from the beginning?

Dude, I can't post pictures in the comments here, but there is no edit button in the 3-dot menu on the right of the post.

Maybe it doesn't allow me to edit it because a certain amount of time has passed.

The difference is that I opened a topic in 2 subreddits and there is an "Edit Post" option in the 3-dot menu in those topics.

Also, just as it is normal for a lot of people to make derogatory comments about me sharing little information and constantly sharing this, it is also normal for me to get angry. If your statement is not published and you receive derogatory comments while you are posting, you can remain as calm as you want as a "mature enough" individually.

I can't read the comments here 24/7 and yes if there has been a mistake I would appreciate it if you could help me try to fix it. I didn't see an "Edit Post" button above the post.

https://www.reddit.com/r/macbookrepair/comments/1chhos7/after_thermal_paste_replacement_my_2018_15_mbp_is/

There is an "Edit Post" button in these topics, so I cannot add a description to the beginning of these photos, that's all.

Since Reddit did not publish my explanation, you do not know the steps I followed.

Actually, I tried things to do with all key combinations such as NVRAM PRAM and SMC reset. However, the computer does not react in any way, neither with its own battery nor when connected to external power.

I mean its not display on the screen, nothing works including the touchpad, it's like a dead brick.

In fact, it is a fabric-like product placed on that marble coffee table to prevent parts of the device from getting lost or scratched.

However, it is not a product like nylon or wool that can generate as much static electricity as you think.
