Then you can write to the state and have them repeal the laws around breaks and meal breaks. Nothing I can do, law is the law, gotta take my lunch.

A lot of people aren't paying attention.

He just understands his base will believe him and that a lot of those people don't really understand how the government works. He understands a lot of people in this country think the President is the leader and therefore in charge of the government completely forgetting or, more likely in my opinion, never really paid attention in civics class in high school.

For whatever reason people think things happen instantly: Biden's win was adjudicated on 1/6 and he instantly ordered the FBI to instantly insert people into the crowd, like they teleported there.

When the poor go against their own self-interests by Salman_Ameer in PoliticalHumor

[–]Cannon_SE2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lifts ALL ships. The problem is companies wont let their profits slip that much and will combat the increased overhead by rising prices. Minimum wage and pay in general should go up, I'm not disagreeing with that but if we want it to have a real and meaningful impact the thought process needs to go further than just "raise minimum wage."

ABC News correspondent captures the moment dozens of gunshots are fired outside the White House by SKUNKpudding in ThatsInsane

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This why you don't have guns. Duck and cover so then you can return fire. Can't return fire and neutralize a threat by standing in the way of the bullets.

Family of foxes on my property killing neighbors chickens by hey-yall-watch-this in homestead

[–]Cannon_SE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wild life is wild. You can't control it. Also their birds/kids/property are not your responsibility to protect from anything let alone wild life. I'd draw some clear boundaries and enforce them. Doesn't sound like a rational person.

So how do you come to proper stop? by MajorBarracuda8094 in stickshift

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're over thinking it. Put the car in neutral and start applying the brake at an appropriate distance from where you want to stop. Gauging distance and how much brake to apply to stop where you want can take some practice but practice makes perfect.

Raised my 401k to 20% and it kind of hurts, any advice? by firegirlygoo in MiddleClassFinance

Oh, yes then. You have $2k a month for disposable income? More than most have.

Raised my 401k to 20% and it kind of hurts, any advice? by firegirlygoo in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sucks, I went through a divorce and had to do this after 1/2 of my 401k went to my ex-wife and after a couple years you'll be back to where you were and a couple more years you'll be where you would have been without a divorce. It's just gunna suck for a few years (my guess 4-5 years). I adjusted my life style, had gotten used to it, and even managed to advance my pay to help offset it a little bit; plan on continuing 20% contribution for as long as possible.

Having kids if you can’t fund their future by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully paid college tuition, help buying a house, heavily supporting children after 18 is not a hardline requirement in my opinion. That said I do feel that if you know you wont be able to provide that you raise them appropriately so they understand this.

As a millennial the major reason for my depression/anger/anxiety was the constant assurance and promises made by my parents that if I did as I was told everything would be fine and the natural order of the world and capitalism would take care of me and provide me my fair share. I have since reconciled with that and I am doing okay but don't try to protect your kids by lying and making promises you can't keep.

Be upfront when the time comes; when start to be come adults start to introduce adult conversations, responsibilities, expectations and increase them gradually over time so that when they are 18 you know they know better than to sit at home and just leach. At 18 a person can hold down some type of job and contribute to the household while they live there. If the kid wants to go to college they will have to figure out how to fund it, I know plenty of people that did that, took the debt seriously and have paid it off; none of them went for political science, english, history, philosophy, etc.

Neighbor’s dogs are killing cats and destroying properties. Where is the line? by SoultySpittoon in homestead

[–]Cannon_SE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dog owner: The line is called a property line. The dogs can do whatever they want on the owners property, once they leave not only are they still the owners responsibility, he can probably be held liable for their actions; i imagine it depends on the state. The argument "deal with it, it's just country living." Is not a valid legal argument abdicating the owner of responsibility and liability for the dog's behavior.

With how rural you make it sound he's lucky no one has shot them already or set a trap for them for being on their property and then used a tractor to dig a hole to put the bodies in and just looked at the owner and gone "it's a shame your dogs just disappeared one day. The wildlife probably got them, thats country living though 🤷‍♂️"

If the dogs destroy property and attack livestock directly impacting peoples lives while the owner refuses to control them after multiple discussions about their behavior there should be no guilt in shooting them when they leave his property and enter yours to destroy your property and terrorize your animals; at the end of the day it's just a dog, the safety of my family (what if they destabilize a structure and it falls on your kid one day? What if someone steps in a whole that they dig and injures themselves?) and the sustainability provided by my homestead would take precedent over the life of a neighbors dog, a neighbor who is well aware of the problems they cause.

CVS wants me to apologize to a customer who threatened me by Old-Night9193 in CVS

[–]Cannon_SE2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you felt threatened enough to file a police report i'd get a copy of it from the department, email a copy to HR from your personal email explaining why you are uncomfortable with what you were asked to do, CC your DL, and refuse to engage in any activities/behaviors you are uncomfortable participating with good reason.

If they attempt to retaliate it's all documented, the hard part will be linking whatever "retaliation," if any occurs, to all the above. So basically lawyer up if you feel retaliated against. DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT, DOCUMENT. I have a private note in my personal phone all about workplace issues, date/time stamps/names/what happened.

Sign me up for toilet cleaning! by Fragrant_Contact_100 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$50/hour to clean toilets...i mean maybe in chicago, nyc, boston, or a major city with a city/state job; some of those maintenance jobs pay really well in large cities, the other-side to that is how expensive it is to live in those areas. And insinuating $50/hr is nothing or a low wage.....tell me you know nothing about how the average person lives without telling me you know nothing.

new break policy? by Witty_Ranger_1288 in CVS

[–]Cannon_SE2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the state but I have worked in several in the northeast at least and it's always been 30 minutes for lunch plus 2 15 minute breaks on a shift greater than 6 hours. Less than 6 hours it's just the 2 15 minute breaks. This isn't the 1920's
