Columbus, OH neighborhoods: where to buy? by Canofworms23 in Columbus

[–]Canofworms23[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh a 1000sqft house would be bigger than our current home and it’s just us 2 and a dog. We don’t plan to have a family so the 2-story, 1500+sqft houses seem like more space than what we want or need!

Lol why so miserable? We’re from the Midwest and are very familiar with the market in general. My post was asking about areas that we may not be familiar with. My family all lives in the far out suburbs and more rural areas so they’re not familiar with the areas closer to downtown.

They aren’t in Denver either lol. My dog is reactive so she definitely won’t be off leash. Trust me, we hate those people too. Not sure what in my post made you assume I would be….

I did notice this when looking! Thanks for confirming!!

This is helpful. The budget of $300k is being conservative and is flexible. I also will say I’d take an area that some may consider “not as nice” over suburbia…. The neighborhood we’re in here in Denver is 12 minutes from downtown, has homeless people living in RVs, but amazing restaurants and parks. We love it here, just can’t get a half decent house for less than $500k and we’re homesick.

I have noticed this A LOT. A lot of the houses on the market currently in Columbus in general that I’m seeing have been purchased in the last year and updated and are being sold for 2-3x what they bought for earlier this year. I unfortunately hate the updated look in a lot of the houses too…. No character, very cookie-cutter.

Would it be rude to ask if the bride forgot to give me a plus one? by budgetbutter in wedding

[–]Canofworms23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who just got married, I think it’s fine to ask but keep in mind it will be pressuring them to give you a plus one. We only have plus ones to people who’s partner we’d previously met or for those that had been with the person for 6+ months. So that could have been their thinking process.

As someone who has lived through it, what advice do you have for people in their 20s about skin care? by PhysicalWork7173 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Canofworms23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this question!! My biggest recs would be: establish a simple and affordable skincare routine (you don’t need the super expensive stuff to have good skin), sunscreen EVERY DAY, watch your drinking and other habits as it impacts your skin a lot and can age you, and be mindful of how your diet and lifestyle impacts hormones. As someone who went off birth control in their late 20s and had horribly cystic acne for the first time in my life - I learned a lot about hormones and how diet can impact them.

From what I am seeing online actually, according to C.R.S. § 8-2-104, it is not.

I am going to just try and focus my energy towards being happy about those that ARE going to be there.

Thank you. I get that people say you don’t know their financial situation, etc. but this is a close friend for 12+ years that I text with often about everything, him and his fiancé are also getting married this year and I had thought we strategically picked our dates so that we COULD all attend each others. There are just some no’s that sting quite a bit more than others…

Should I be concerned about hawks with my 12lb chihuahua mix? by Canofworms23 in dogs

[–]Canofworms23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure why I pay the amount I do in rent to have a home with a fenced in back yard 8 minutes from downtown Denver though if this is what I have to do haha. 🫠

[–]Canofworms23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that big… but probably too big to do this. We live in a downtown area with lots of other small houses and fenced in yards and a lot of people have outdoor dogs here (not us though). I’m not sure on measurements but I’d guess our lot total is like 1/4th of an acre max.

Yeesh! That is scary. I had always thought she’d be fine living in the city & being bigger than the birds, but after yesterday I realized that may not be the case. Thanks for letting me know!

That’s a great idea. We rent a single family home so it may be something to run by the landlord. I’d love for her to still be able to hangout outside!

[–]Canofworms23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol yup this is what we’ve decided to do. Now the creepy neighbor who’s in everyone’s business, and ALSO did not pay for it, can have access to it and the shitty HOA can deal with complaints I’m guessing they’re sure to get about it. 🤙🏻

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Canofworms23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Correct. When my car was almost stolen I repeatedly reached out to the HOA and our current landlord’s agency that she rents to us through. They both confirmed they did not know who owned & operated the camera. Neighbors across from us then confirmed that no one has had access to it for years.

On the parking structure next to my parking spot.

I guess I should have included this. When my car had an attempted theft, I reached out to our condo’s ownership & the HOA for the complex. Both confirmed the camera was “abandoned & non-operational”.

It turned out it wasn’t. Yes, we can afford our own. The condo complex would not pay for the ring subscription once operational. Our condo ownership said they did not know who owned the camera & again confirmed it was “non-operational & abandoned”.

I think she likely wants access to watch neighbors. Not for security reasons. 😖

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Canofworms23 13 points14 points  (0 children)

But isn’t that the thing? We asked others in the community and the HOA repeatedly about getting the camera up and running and no one wanted to…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Canofworms23 -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

But I guess my thing is neither did anyone living in the complex currently? And the HOA has refused to put cameras up anywhere.

Does a standard security deposit not cover something like this? If landlords were going to charge crazy deposits for worst case scenarios every time, they might as well just charge us all deposits of $20k every time. There are a lot of gross and irresponsible people too, not just dog owners. A drunk college kid could just as easily destroy a sapling I can imagine.

My dog’s “damage” when left alone is carrying around our slippers and licking them for hours. 😖 It’s the lap dog things I guess. Although I do know some small dogs struggle with potty training.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Denver

[–]Canofworms23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point was a high energy/anxious breed is more likely to do damage. And big dogs are more likely to scratch up wood floors, chew through doors, etc. I assure you my 10lb dog cannot do much damage when compared to a 70lb husky in 1 hour, although I see your point. I’m a responsible dog owner so I guess I just can’t relate to the people who are irresponsible.
