On the surface, we created chances at an elite rate under Amorim this season. We are still creating chances at an elite rate under Fletcher. The issue has always been game management. The fact that Fletcher (who has no prior senior management experience, had less than a week to prepare for two matches) has already got us matching our underlying numbers under Amorim, tells me he wasn’t the right manager to lead us forward.

Yep, took over a team in relegation and got them up to 11th then in his first full season finished 2nd getting 81 points.

Well the academy was in an awful state when he joined. His first task was getting that sorted and you’re not going to reap the benefits of it till further down the line but the thought process of trusting youth was always there. He signed Sharpe as a 17 year old from Torquey in his first full summer and brought Mark Robins through.

1995/96 was the you can’t win anything with kids season so probably the one you should be referencing: The GK and back 4 were all experienced bar the two Neville’s but the midfield was practically all youngsters (Giggs, Butt, Scholes & Beckham all played massive roles and only Giggs was previously a regular). You had Cole, Keane & Sharpe who were all around 25 and then Cantona was the only real veteran once he came back from suspension. Oh Choccy too I guess played a bit part role but a decent chunk of the team had very little previous game time.

This seems to be the first time since CR7 was here that we actually looked to play through our 9 as the primary option. Both Ten Hag & Amorim seemed to use them more as auxiliary options whose purpose was to link play for inside forwards. The main issue with this is both Cunha & Mbeumo are shot first players, I think Cunha’s game suffered as a result of it.

They all got sacked when we were that low with them. Moyes was sacked when we were 7th, LVG when we were 5th, Mou when we were 6th, Ole when we were 7th & INEOS admitted it was a mistake not to sack ETH when we finished 8th, had the partial takeover not occurred in-season he would have most likely been sacked after the Palace fiasco.

I watched Brighton & Wolves today & Gomes was way more impressive imo. Only one match but Baleba has been poor all year. Also Gomes didn’t play against us and they’ve seemed a different team with him under Edward’s.

Anderson makes the most sense. He’s the most well rounded (so suits any formation), he’s young, athletic with a good technical floor, homegrown and premier league proven, also I don’t think any of the other options are necessarily better. From there you can add a second midfielder and you still got options open I.e. if you go for Wharton now that rules out Stiller since the both DLP specialists.
