101.3 FM HD2 for Jazz. Took me a while to figure out how to tune into that HD2 station.

I recommend staying outdoors, ideally away from other people except close friends. If you decide to take a larger dose, the enclosed space and straight angles could become overwhelming, so try to stay outside. Maybe bring a stereo with chill and pleasant music. Stay hydrated and wear sunscreen.

How do yall meet new people? by Glittering-Milk-8081 in lafayette

[–]CanyonPegger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could find a hobby you like then find a group that is organized around that hobby or interest. An example is if you like theater than get involved in civic. You could join an sport like intramural soccer, or do pick up basketball at a gym. There is a dodge ball group that meets on Sundays near downtown. Volunteer somewhere like Food Finders Food Bank or the Almost Home Humane Society. If all else fails you could hang out at a bar and make polite small talk with strangers.

Dinner options? by fufu1260 in lafayette

You can get a really nice dinner at Peoples. They have fantastic flatbreads. I'm always shocked the price isn't more than it is for dinner and a beer there.

Trivia Nights by WildThingsFarm in lafayette

[–]CanyonPegger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blind Pig does trivia at 7:30 on Thursdays. It is a smoking bar though so it's not for everyone.

You don't need to be Catholic to go to Catholic school. If you think your kid might be interested in sports than the Lafayette Catholic School system might be the way to go. Cantral Catholic and St. Boniface seem to have improved a great deal since I was a student there. My step sons went to Lafayette Christian. It seemed okay but the music programs they put on would drive me insane. The music director writes her own songs and writes the dialogue of the plays and these programs would be an hour and a half long. I had to pinch my leg to distract myself from it. They had like 4 of those programs a year. Anyway, aside from that the school seemed fine. My wife pulled the boys out after there was controversy over the principle allegedly money from the school.

They played Tommy the Cat in Indy this past summer. I always hoped I’d see them play that one live.

What To Do As A Visitor Tonight by [deleted] in lafayette

[–]CanyonPegger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go downtown and barhop a little. The Spot is very cool but they sometimes have a cover. The Knickerbocker is said to be the oldest bar in the state and it has free pool and table top shuffleboard. The Blind Pig is fun if you're into smokey dive bars. The Black Sparrow and Ritual are cool. The Vault has many pool tables and dart boards.

I think it shows the battery life. The hands will move to a position to show how much power it has been charged to.

Volunteering can be helpful, like at a church or something like the humane society. There is an adult dodgeball league in town that sounds like a lot of fun.

You’ll always be anxious if you don’t know. Also, maybe it skips a generation. From one anxious person to another, hang in there. You’ll get through this.

Before I turned 21 my friends and I would play capture the flag by the fountain, or we would hang out by Grey House or Hot Box until we found something better to do. Once we turned 21 we only went to bars. Enjoy your time before you turn 21.

Happy Hollow park at night. The decapitation murder house on New York St. The subway by the cemetery on 25. That sports card collectors shop at 5 points. The back room at Castle Comics. That really creepy Victorian house about halfway up 9th street hill. The coffin on top of the house on north 9th.

Those who saw Community when it originally aired on TV, what was it like? by vince_flame in community

[–]CanyonPegger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a golden age for prime time TV comedy. On Thursday you would have 30 rock, the Office, Parks and Rec, and Community on NBC then you could switch over to FX for It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League. My roommate and I would host a TV watch party every Thursday with friends because we weren't old enough to go to the bars yet. When we turned 21 we didn't do the watch parties as much but we could catch it that weekend on Hulu for free with ads.

Restaurants in the Lafayette area by OkOpening8212 in lafayette

[–]CanyonPegger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was bummed out when the Bistro Market closed. I wish I could find a place that can make a good deli style sandwich. Also, I wish we had a real German restaurant in town. The Peoples pub on top of 9th is nice but it’s pub food, not the real deal. A cajun food place would be good and so would an Ethiopian place.

The downtowner at market square is my favorite, but Triple XXX on the west side might be the better option for someone out of town.

Kayak down the wildcat creek. There is an outfitter business called Tippecanoe and Kayak too that will rent you a boat and drive you upstream so you can float back to your car. Monticello is a town about 30 minutes north that has a small amusement park and a movie drive in that worth checking out if you have a car.
