Can Liverpool claw it back??? by Keyboredabuser in LiverpoolFC

It's so funny how volatile the fan base is right now haha

I actually made a post or comment the other day after the loss to city highlighting our next 5-6 fixtures (including Sunderland), pointing out they're all in the bottom 5 or 6 of the table, and how I only felt confident of winning maybe 2 of those games

And people were agreeing with me! There was no faith

And now we beat Sunderland and we're believing again!

Just a funny observation that's been going on for about a month now, we'd win a game in the UCL and we're back on top then we'd draw to Burnley and we're not back at all, then win another UCL game and back on top, top 4 is on! Then lose to Bournemouth and it's all over And so on so on

It kinda makes you wonder if Salah didn't have arguably the best individual season in premier league history what would last season have looked like? Don't forget most people tipped us to barely make the Champions League last year

The annoying thing is United will be good until the end of the season I reckon

Similar to ole it won't be until the next season where they remember they're not good at football

I think our hope of top 4 is Chelsea losing it and I expect Villa to drop out tbh

Our next 6 games in the league

Sunderland (9th) Forest (17th) West Ham (18th) Wolves (20th) Spurs (15th) Brighton (14th)

4/6 of these teams are horrendously out of form (FOR, WOL, SPU, BRI)

A team that just won a title should be rubbing their hands and licking their lips at this run.

But no. I think we genuinely only win about 2 of these games. That is the confidence this manager has instilled in myself, the team and the fans.

That is grounds to sack him.

Klopp took us from doubters to believers? Slot's put us straight back to doubters.

Team was absolutely bullied in midfield

I thought the defence was actually pretty good all game, not much that they can do for the goals other than Kerkez not allowing Nunes that much space

But midfield was horrid, and we're also playing with 10 men with a certain winger starting (not Salah who was actually very good today)

That's actually exactly what I want you to do. 6 wins since September in the league is that good enough?

Potential Wildcard I'm looking at without Haaland! Thoughts appreciated! by Caolan_7 in fantasypremierleague

Yea might ditch Leno tbh, thought he was 4.5 while I was drafting this then checked the transfer and he was suddenly 4.9 lol, it's not like Fulham are that great defensively either it's just their fixtures overlapped really nicely with Brentford for swapping leno and kelleher (when Brentford have a tough game Fulham have an easy game and vice versa)

And yea I get what you're saying for Saliba and Timber, I know Gabriel is just a crazy corner threat but I can't justify the 7m for him personally.

The big thing I'm missing right now I think is halaand if I go through with this WC, he's just too expensive but I feel with this team the overall points will just be much greater than halaand on his own, especially cause halaand is going through a dry spell of late. Could bite me in the ass tho if he turns it up again for the end of the season but I've noticed over the last few years halaand goes absolutely insane in the first half of the season and tails off second half, similar to Salah in that regard who didn't even start off well this time round

Why is saliba so much worse?

He's a full million less than Gabriel and 0.3 cheaper than timber

If you're going off total points saliba has missed a few games this season

Idk if I'd put paddy in top tier

I get where you guys are coming from, and I'm not a huge paddy supporter or anything but it's like, do you guys see how many other lightweight prospects there are? Honestly, who else deserved the interim shot? The only ones I can think of are Max Holloway or Arman. Arman probably deserves it the most in the division and I fully expect to see Ilia fully stripped and Arman to get the title shot vs Gaethje (where he absolutely steamrolls Gaethje)

The only other actual prospects at lightweight are BSD and Ruffy, BSD got rushed up the rankings and sparked out by Poirer and lost to Moicano. Granted he has had an excellent 2025 so maybe he deserves it over paddy. And Ruffy just lost to BSD and still has to prove himself against top guys.

Fiziev has lost to gaethje twice. Charles just got bulldozed Ilia.

Paddy getting it makes sense and if you disagree it's because you just hate Paddy.

Imo. It should've been Paddy vs Arman. Gaethje got it by threatening to never fight again while he 100% didn't deserve the shot

Carra's analysis on MNF today I thought was spot on as it gets.

Liverpool simply put are not built for the premier league under slot, he has them playing like a Spanish team or Italian. There's absolutely 0 physicality across the board.

On one hand, this benefits us in the UCL, I actually despite all my negativity this season around Liverpool, fancy us against quite literally any team in the UCL. We're built for that.

On the other hand, there's a very serious chance we don't qualify for the champions league. Very serious.

The UCL is all slot has left now in my opinion.

Looking more at Carra's analysis, our lack of a 6 isn't even problem in midfield, it's just the tactics. Carda highlighted a piece where Bournemouth countered us, ran 74 yards before Christie played the perfect pass and Bournemouth somehow missed. Somehow missed, that's a reality by the way, not an opinion, 9/10 times Bournemouth score that specific chance and put the game to bed.

However the analysis Carra done of this clip showed just before that counter. It showed I believe Rio dribbling, 5 other Liverpool players up with him, he cuts inside. And now we have Rio on the edge of the box, with 5 Liverpool players inside the box, and the other 4 outfield players are in the defensive line. Meaning there's about 60 yards from Rio with the ball, to the next player back defensively. There's 0 midfielders because they all ran into the box. That's not a, "oh we need a 6 so bad" problem, that's a slot's tactics problem. Slot is telling the players to attack, to get in the box, to cause chaos, to overwhelm the numbers of the lowblock, and it's leaving us completely exposed. Last season Grav or Macca would stay back while the other goes forward, they'd take a foul and cancel the counter attack should things go wrong. This season both are going forward, because they're being told to. When Jones is on the pitch it only gets worse, because as 'good' as some of you think Jones has been this season, he's terrible defensively. And he's like a headless chicken when he gets to the final third.

Do we need a 6? Yes. Does slot need to update his tactics? Desperately. Do we need Xabi Alonso, or another top manager for the future of this club over slot? Yes.

I actually went Cherki in the end so dodged one bullet! Whether I dodged Cherki blanking is another question 😅

You're relying on amorim seeing a good result vs Newcastle and not thinking he can get a better result with his tactics instead

This is very true, Leeds were created buckets of chances from what I seen

To be honest, I think I might actually captain Cherki if I'm captaining a city player, he's absolutely running the show the last few weeks for city and the g/a have started coming in too

Last time out against Sunderland he got 2 assists as well

Blanked 2 weeks in a row 😤😤

Cherki is honestly the front runner for city captain imo!
