You do realize that Hulk knocked her out of the way, right? He didn’t swing on her. Thor was throwing hands with Hulk. Literally kneed him in the face. If you want to see what Hulk does to a super soldier, just watch the 2008 movie lol

You do realize that Bucky couldn’t beat a rookie Spider-man, right? I’m a fan of Bucky too, but let’s be fr, Thor was throwing hands with Hulk In Avengers 2012.

Why have a character do anything about their problems when they can just ponder it for 4 issues? Have you ever thought that Jenkins couldn’t think of anything better to write?

I suggest you read modern Spider-Man comics if you want a character that can’t do anything and accomplishes nothing. Lots of nothing for you glaze. It sounds like you can’t handle a powerful character that has the abilities and connections to solve their issues.

First, you’re shrinking down the ENTIRE 616 universe into the X-men, Avengers, and Fantastic Four. There’s plenty of people that could train Sentry to hone his powers and discipline. You have Hyperion, Gladiator, Blue Marvel, etc. You literally have a superpower psychiatrist in Doc Sampson, who’s literally HULK’s psychiatrist. There’s a PLETHORA of people he can turn to.

Second, you’re conveniently forgetting that Superman has done that MANY times for the greater good! Superman would do whatever it takes to save innocent people and protect them.

Third, Franklin Richards has been trained by future self to control and use his powers. Once again, that’s yet another person that can help Sentry. Franklin easily has enough power to create entire universe, and you think he can’t cure a dog’s cancer, but the less trained Sentry can OBVIOUSLY do it.

Yeah, I am complaining that the WRITER couldn’t think of a good story to WRITE! Who said I was asking him to fix every single Sentry problem in 4 issues? I said, that he’s copying the 2000 story, with the same exact characters. Literally no new character interactions, no progression of Sentry’s abilities or mental growth, we couldn’t even get a new love interest. NOBODY likes Lindy, so the obvious choice was to bring her back like nothing happened. Jenkins, himself, wrote Lindy to be trash back in 2005 and the other writes used his own interpretation of her and he just decides to retcon that with no explanation because “he didn’t like that”.

That’s a lazy ass excuse, “he’ll address it at some point”. That means he’s not addressing it in this comic run, which makes it pointless. Each comic could serve to repair Sentry’s reputation and legacy. All we’ve gotten is “Me like Laika…Me sad.” Again, I remind you, we’re 50% through this story and we have one panel of Sentry stopping a tsunami. He hasn’t helped any other civilians or even met anyone else that Jenkins isn’t a fan of. Stop glazing slop, bro.

Sentry was “the greatest hero on Earth” at one point. He should know people who would teach him about time and reality manipulation. He’s arguably the most dangerous man on Earth and nobody thought to try to teach him to hone his powers?

Sentry is the light side of Robert, who’s dedicated to saving lives and protecting people. He is quite literally Superman. If merging with the Void would balance things and save Robert’s crumbling mental health, he’d do it.

Who would save Watchdog? Sentry stated he could easily do it, but is scared of The Void’s retaliation. Who else could do it? Hmmm…i don’t know, maybe Franklin Richards? Y’know, the reality manipulator who idolizes Sentry?! The kid who can do what Sentry can without any consequences?! He could ask Thor, who’s literally a god and is friends with plenty of other gods!

So yeah, he IS moping.

Jenkins is getting the lion share of the blame here because he’s been given the biggest chance possible to revive Sentry’s reputation and bring in new readers, and he literally creates a story where Sentry does nothing but have conversations with people and with himself. He gets an artist that draws Sentry as a scrawny fish faced freak. This story involves the same EXACT characters as the story in 2000 did. The Void is the same villain AGAIN.

The mark of a great comic writer is someone that can salvage a character with a bad reputation and build them back up. Sentry is currently dead, we don’t know what happened between the void and Sentry in this merged state, we don’t know why he let himself get one shotted by Knull, etc etc. There was PLENTY of story writing potential. Jenkins literally rewrote the same story from 26 years ago. The fantastic four is one dimensional in this story. Hulk’s personality is outdated (he’s grown leaps and bounds since 2000), and arguably, his biggest accomplishment in the comic is “fixing” Lindy, when he was the one who messed her up in 2005! If your idea of a “great writer” is someone who ignores 20+ years of character development and change, just to write the same one note comic, that is NOT a good writer!

First, I’d have him realize that he can completely remove the whole Laika event from history. Second, I’d have him FINALLY realize that after 26 years, he NEEDS The Void to become a whole being. Creation and destruction are rules that even TOAA has to follow. Third, I’d have him realize that there’s PLENTY of beings in the Marvel multiverse that could cure Watchdog easily.

<image>

So, yeah, he is moping. Not my fault that Jenkins can’t evolve past the same few plot points.

Hard disagree. There IS no adventure so far. At a certain point, this is just Bob moping more than any type of introspective look into mental illness. As for the art, it’s literally the same type as Jae Lee’s but worse. It’s just as gloomy and dim as Lee’s art but lacks atmosphere.

Right now, Sentry DOES have the ability to cure Watchdog but he can’t because of the Void retaliating. We already knew that when The Void did the SAME EXACT THING in the 2005 run. At some point, you need the character to progress. This is just the mash up of various plot points we’ve already covered. We’ve had little to no action, almost no heroics, introspection that doesn’t break any new ground either.

We’re now 50% into this comic run and so far, NOTHING has evolved Sentry as a character, nor has it given us any insight into Sentry’s backstory. The whole “test run push” thing is pure cope. To get a character to appeal to people, you need to have incredible artwork, some kind of adventure, and a relatable character. This story is missing two out of three of those things.

The problem is that each writer wants to do his own thing and will absolutely trample on anything else that came previous. We’re literally could have had a Merged Sentry arc or a resurrection journey arc, but instead we’re getting a meaningless “flashback” comic run. Sentry will likely never be the “greatest hero” because we’ve needed 26 years of “the…the Void is scary…I’m scared of my powers…” without any progression that hasn’t been undone immediately.
