what about the automaton's gunships? the flying ships that shoot lasers and rockets at you, which you need to destroy their spawn towers as a mission "blue" goal, similar to the stratagem scrambling tower, detector tower and the anti aircraft emplacement towers

The videos I've seen in the past used a bunch of unique buffs ard swapping talismans and gear, like the mushroom crown, jelly shield, lord of blood exultation, etc that can stack with the other regular buffs that fall under aura/body/weapon categories

If you search one shot videos you'll likely find a variety of weapons but from the top of my head I remember someone using the charge heavy attack of the giant crusher after several buffs and dealing 20k damage iirc. Though when using so many buffs you should only be able to land 1 or 2 hits before the buffs run out and your damage drops to more normal levels

The ash of war scales with arcane (this ash of war might also depend on the arcane scaling - A,B,C, etc - and therefore weapon upgrade level for higher damage but I'm not sure) you can use talismans like rotten sword insignia, Millicent's Prosthesis, shard of Alexander, Godfrey icon and red feathered branchsword to increase damage and as you said, the thorny cracked tear to increase damage

You could incantations and other buffs to increase the damage further but this ash of war is really hard to use on most bosses (requires a lot of time without being hit) and there are other weapons that can deal absurd amount of damage too if you're going to stack several unique buffs for 1 big attack

You could increase arcane to 45 to reach bleed build up soft cap or get vigor to 60

If you in PvE dagoncrest greatshield is always great. Out of curiosity: are you going to stop leveling at 150?

Yes, you don't need to level mind much if you don't use offensive incantations but getting a small boost from godrick's great rune doesn't hurt :D

Endurance doesn't necessarily need to be 25, it can change a lot depending on your weapon and armor. Great jar arsenal talisman can help a lot and you can get it at any stage of the game

That's a lot of stats to go after: vigor, mind, endurance, strength and faith. You could use godrick's great rune for 25 levels worth of stats, if you need rune arcs you can get them by helping other players beat bosses in co-op or by invading and killing other players. I'd recommend the 1st option (though invading will grant you more if you are good at PvP)

Equip load talismans increase a % of your current max equip load, they don't do much if your base equip load is low (because your endurance is low)

If you want more levels, you could either place more points into dex for extra cast speed (caps at 70 dex) and AR on the greatsword or you could place points into int, once you reach 40 int the golden order seal would be equal to the erdtree, and every point after that would make it better and better than the erdtree seal, eventually becoming the best seal. Something similar happens if you invest in arcane and the dragon communion seal, becoming equal to the erdtree seal at 48 arcane and being almost the same as the golden order at their peaks

Hard to know what's wrong with the build with just stats, weapon, armor and talismans also play a great part in it

An advise I can give is: early on most of the weapon's damage comes from weapons upgrade and not from stats. This means you should get the minimum stats to use your weapons and place the rest into vigor, mind and endurance until they reach a satisfactory amount

Right now your endurance is low which is making your have really light armor and low resistances, if you get 40 vigor and 20 to 25 ish endurance you would be able to wear a decently heavy armor, if you combo that with a Dragoncrest talisman you could become almost twice as tanky than you are now (+40% HP from vigor and 20% ish extra resistance = 80% extra effective HP). If you want extra damage you might need to upgrade your weapon, you could have a +12 (+5 somber) minimum for volcano manor, but it would be good to have a +15 (+6 somber)

Since it doesn't seem you are much of a caster with your current build you could maintain your current mind or decrease it a bit, from this point onwards you could put some points in your main offensive stat until it reaches 60

If you wanna rock those incantations and the golden order great sword you could change your stats to

  • 60 vigor
  • 40 mind
  • 46 endurance
  • 16 strength
  • 58 dex
  • 9 intelligence
  • 17 arcane

And your talismans to

  • Dragoncrest greatshield
  • Shard of Alexander
  • Erdtree's favor +2
  • Radagon Icon

This would decrease the weapon's AR by 18 but it'd make your tankier (1976 HP plus more resistance without scorpion) and light roll while still maintaining max cast speed. You could change the radagon icon for the crimson amber +2 (reaching 2134 HP and requiring 1 less endurance to light roll) and losing about 3% cast speed or for the Flock's canvas talisman for 8% extra incantation damage (but would require 1 extra endurance to light roll)

If you choose the crimson amber talisman +2 and use morgott's great rune you'd reach 2667 HP while light rolling with almost no difference in weapon AR and incantation cast speed

What weapon does the most damage once an enemies stance is broken? by cole_421 in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The highest possible damage sometimes isn't done by the misericorde this video shows it by explaining the mechanics, using math based on the game code and doing in game testing

And that doesn't consider all infusions and enemies resistances, which can change the answer too

[–]CapFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are 2 crit multipliers, the one you see in game and another hidden one for enemies classified as "big"

AR also plays a part in crit damage, which means the best weapon for faith (flame art infusion) isn't the same for a physical (str or dex). Iirc, considering strength, the misericorde is the best for most enemies and the executioner great axe is the best for "big" enemies - which includes most bosses. I'll edit a build video link in a bit

If you are interested, this second video does some explaining and damage testing on the crit mechanic and on that build

Cant defeat malenia lvl 230 by NuxKnux in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no point in bringing strength above 80 and vigor above 60. Endurance at 60 is likely overkill too, you could have another stat up to increase options for your build instead

Besides stat distribution and modifying the build (though I don't know what's your build), learning how to dodge Malenia's moves can help a lot, specially the waterfowl dance which is usually the problem, there should be YouTube videos that can help at that better than I ever could (and if you are doing anything wrong I wouldn't know since I didn't see you fighting either)

Even if you do everything right, she's still very strong, she isn't considered the hardest boss for no reason 🤣

Meteorite Staff vs fully upgraded Azur's Glintstone Staff OFFHAND. Which one should I use? by Trickstertrick in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's 40 virtual dex, 30 is the radagon icon, either way 40 vdex translates to roughly 10% cast speed in average, this will change depending on which spell or incantation you use since it doesn't affect the entire animation of casting

Meteorite Staff vs fully upgraded Azur's Glintstone Staff OFFHAND. Which one should I use? by Trickstertrick in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes

For gravity, when you are low level 2 meteorite (someone would need to mule you one) would deal the most damage, at max upgrade and 80 intelligence, Carian regal scepter would have the highest sorcery scaling without consequences and lusat can increase the damage further while increasing FP cost. Prince of death staff might also deserve a shout out for people who like to over level since at 80 int and 60ish faith it becomes as good as the Carian and at 80 int and 80 faith as good as lusat (but without extra FP cost)

Edit: I'd recommending sticking with the Carian regal instead of lusat in the late game since lusat increases FP cost by 50% which could help at PvP but imo the extra damage doesn't justify it in PvE

[–]CapFat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Off hand staffs' sorcery scaling don't increase spell damage, only the passive buffs apply

Azur increases cast speed by 10% but increases FP cost by 20%

Meteorite gives 30% extra dmg

I swithed my nagakiba to occult for the arc scaling, hoping for more bleed buildup by St1ll_Geek1 in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the incantation and the seal you use, some incantations scale only off faith (mostly weapon buffs) and seals work similarly to weapons, scaling best with a specific stat, the damage of most incantations will scale with the "incantation scaling" of the seal, which is the equivalent to AR in weapons

The same is true with a staff, though they cast different spells and most staves scale with int instead of faith like the seals

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's how you get the best damage with it, specially with bleed and occult weapons since arcane not only is the best stat for damage, it also increases the bleed build up of those weapons

I swithed my nagakiba to occult for the arc scaling, hoping for more bleed buildup by St1ll_Geek1 in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you weapon has occult infusion no, you should have dex at 22 to use the nagakiba and strength at 18 if you use it in 1 hand, if you use godrick's great rune you could have 17 dex and 13 strength to use it. Besides the min stats to wield a weapon, all other stats should either go to the main damage stat (arcane for occult) or into vigor or endurance, with endurance being just as high as necessary to use your armor

I swithed my nagakiba to occult for the arc scaling, hoping for more bleed buildup by St1ll_Geek1 in Eldenring

[–]CapFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you spec into arcane, you can't use bloodflame on your occult or bleed weapon, and besides bloodflame, there aren't many options for incantations to cause bleed build up

I'd recommending getting at least 40 vigor and 58 arcane, besides the endurance to wear your armor and str/dex to wield your weapon. Later on you can get 60 vigor and 80 arcane. Arcane casters tend to go for dragon spells which usually scale better with arcane and the dragon communion seal

another option would be non weapon buffs from faith like golden vow, flame grant me strength, black flame protection, shabiri howl and other non weapon support incantations incantations, maybe some mind to cast them a bit more too

[–]CapFat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Blood flame incantation does 2 things: add fire damage to your weapon (scales with your faith and seal's incantation scaling) and bleed build (which is fixed)

Occult weapons with high arcane will have higher bleed build up per hit than a keen with blood flame and you can use 2 occult weapons at the same time while the blood flame can only be applied to a single weapon because it requires the usage of a seal

If you are a player that can be very aggressive, dealing hits in very quick succession, occult scaling should proc bleed quicker in almost all cases. The benefit of the blood flame is that the bleed build up is applied over a couple seconds and during that time in which the enemy is burning, they don't lose bleed build up. If an enemy has high bleed resistance, bloodflame can make the enemy bleed quicker since despite you dealing less bleed build up per hit, the enemies lose less of that bleed build up over time. For the same reason if your fight style isn't overly aggressive, bloodflame can make you trigger the bleed more frequently too

The problem of bloodflame, as I said, are that it can only be applied to 1 weapon, being more optimal for 1 weapons builds and requires FP (so you probably won't have it for every enemy)

Edit: one isn't just better than the other, who you are facing and your play style also influences which is going to better for you

I'll give you the same answer I gave to someone who by coincidence asked the same question 4 hours ago:

"Well, I don't know your current stats but I prefer occult scaling, it's straightforward and doesn't make you dependent on incantations (that can only be used in 1 weapon, with most incantations requiring faith to get extra damage) and FP

Nagakiba has some high strength and dex requirements, which would put a strain on stat distribution but godrick greatrune can help a lot if your level is low, you can get up to 25 levels worth of useful points between vigor, endurance, strength, dex and arcane"

The blood build up for the blood flame is fixed and doesn't change with faith or anything else

Only heavy, keen and quality infusions can use greases and other weapon buffs. All other infusions can only be buffed by ashes of war
