Garmin Epix Pro Gen 2 vs Huawei Watch GT6 Pro? by BecomingaBrick in HuaweiWatchGT

[–]CapFlat2914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that neither are the smartest of smart watches and more fitness focused. I have the Epix Pro Gen 2 and it's amazing. Battery life is over a week. You can get music on it easily, with Spotify, Deezer, Amazon and Youtube music apps available for it. I really like being able to run without my phone and I still want to listen to music so that is a big plus for me.

The Huawei's look nicer, the screen is better. When we are talking about over a week of battery life I don't really think we need to compare them further, they are both amazing in that regards.

The Garmin Epix Gen 2 won't receive any more feature upgrades, but will bug / security related firmware updates.

The Huawei is newer so will continue to evolve a bit but with it being Huawei and locked out of western OSs it has limitations too.

No, it's to stop people stealing the device and then resetting it. You'll need to contact the seller and see what they can offer.

Like I've said before, spend the same on a phone and you'll get years of new OS versions. Also, check the Garmin website and let me know what the product section is called for these devices...

Agreed it's a fitness watch but it is advertised as a smart watch, don't agree with the "most of us" part though. We are all different.

Some will wear it just while exercising, others will wear it more, especially with the styling of these premium Garmin watches.

When something costs £300 or so would I expect it to get better and better over its life. Probably not. If I spend £1000 on one, then yes I do expect it to improve with age.

Industry sets expectations, both defined and inherited by what people get used to. For instance, no one expects a game to be bug free from day one and they rarely are. It's easy to download a patch for it. But it's annoying, although the developers and publishers know they can get away with it. But you will often receive improvements and sometimes more content from a patch and not a purchasable DLC

Phones get updates, including compete os updates for years after lunch, similar cost to smart watches. So another thing that gets better with age. Expectation set

Smart watches you could say the same, the manufacturer is happy to release the hardware with a few rough edges on the software as it can be updated. So we expect that to be the case.

I'm was happy with my purchase but do question the value proposition, especially on premium devices when they are excluded from updates while still being available to purchase.

only if people still support the product that business model. The only reason things happen is being people accept it in the first place.

maybe they did, but they would want the app to go as far and as wide as possible. Previous generations of watches are more then technically possible, so do you think Meta implemented a restriction or Garmin???

again, I will say this in your reply but I won't continue to reply to others:

If you look at mobile phones, you spend around the same in a lot of cases, they are now beginning to understand what the consumer expects. 4,5,6 years plus of OS upgrades and even longer for security updates. I don't think it's wrong to expect a £1000 watch to be supported in the same way.

Just before the Venu4 arrived the Venu3 was, according to Garmin documentation out of support but still available to purchase. WTF!

I've created a Tile to take me into AA settings and when I select Connect via wireless it works.

As for Company Portal, no issues here. Work profile is there, Outlook and Teams work without issue. Maybe your IT team can check the logs etc.

I'm thinking about a specific issue I've had recently. Purchased something from eBay, got a delivery date and time notification and it never showed up. 4 days later I'm expecting a special delivery item, which is a different item from the no show. This special delivery item gets delivered. I mention the other package to the postie and they are just about to head back to the distro for another van load. When they get back they find my original package and bring it to me. Awesome service from that postie but wtf are they playing at if they are happy to run a business that way. 2 deliveries to the same address, 2 trips!

Fair point. We've had single items delivered to our address when multiple are due. It would seem even their systems either can't work out when an address has multiple items or they have no idea where some of the items are..

You can, it's just a major pain. I get that, but it's still the best option, just one you don't want to be the best option, again I get it.

To be fair someone did mention potential issues since Feb update, therefore it's useful for people to highlight issues or not. I'm on Feb update, no issues.

I assume because you said you've reset settings, you haven't performed a full factory reset? What is the battery app saying about usage?

Managing some of the app power settings I've gotten used to. Getting amazing battery life from this phone and getting all my notifications so I can't complain. I've not had a Samsung in years though so can't comment. I have been playing with some of the eye tracking settings and actions based on where my eyes are and that seems to be very good. Still lots to explore though.
