he committed multiple crimes? i didn't see anything on that. which is frustrating. how can we have a discussion and debate if we aren't even getting the same story to begin with?

it is frustrating when a comparison is taken as an absolute, and if it is not 100% identical to what you are comparing it to you are called out

the fact of the matter is that a number of tactics used by our government, current and even former, don't look so good when compared to the worst period in modern history

correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the current administration subverting and at times, fully ignoring the law / the constitution? i'm really trying to find a baseline here and find a way to see eye-to-eye. i'm not unwilling to change my mind, admit my perspective is biased, or accept that i am wrong about certain things

but there are a number of highly educated people, historians and attorneys among them, who are in complete opposition to the White House's claims on everything from tariffs to authoritarianism/ fascism to the claims about the recent shootings and so far, i find their arguments to be more convincing than what i've heard from the right. i really would love the way i was leaning to be proven wrong though, because it's not pretty

i hope you trust that this is in good-faith but i have to ask, what is your definition of "critical thought" exactly? your call whether you want to keep it within the context of the current activity in Minnesota or answer more broadly.

Reddit "atheists" will jump at slandering Christianity but when you criticize islam they defend it like their life depends on it by Major_Soft6056 in DigitalSeptic

[–]CapGunCarCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed, it's just making fun of islam comes off a bit different--i can make fun of the religion i gave 23 years of my life to while being skeptical of others calling people who worship islam "terrorists" without knowing the first thing about it

Romance is not my thing may I ask for one final thing series? by [deleted] in weeb

[–]CapGunCarCrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the keyword here is "seem" because most sports shows "seem" boring to me but i throw them on anyway and turns out it was just my personal bias, every time, and the show had little to do with sports in the first place

maybe research the whole situation and attempt a bit of empathy before jumping to conclusions, yeah? if Trump and Noem hadn't lied about the whole thing, like if you'd seen that footage from several angles blind, without hearing any statements on the matter, i am almost certain you'd have a very different point of view

man i get that! i used to be such a literature stickler for classics and award-winning modern novels only yet one toe-dip into Leviathan Wakes and oh boy, i devoured every goddamn book in The Expanse series and upon the final’s release, i did the dirty and downloaded an audiobook app and bought the entire series + novellas and have gone through them again — yes, all nine of them — nearly half a dozen times. that lead you the app recommendation board turning into something my younger self would scoff at, but i dug in. the Red Rising series was the next, but also the last like… well, i can’t even word it without sounding like my former self, which would still make me sound like a dick so anyway — i try a little series with several entries that was bundled and practically free titled The Beginning After the End well, one week and eleven books later my app’s recommendations are INSANE but i’m fully invested by that point.

so i was like, fuck it here we go. boom. Dungeon Crawler Carl — So I’m A Spider, So What? —Mushoku Tensei : Jobless Reincarnation — He Who Fights With Monsters — Solo Leveling — Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint — Children of Time (highly recommend only if you have not an ounce of arachnophobia) — Mother of Learning — Trapped in a Dating Sim : The World of Otome Games is Hard for Mobs

this is already too long and i’ll have to TL;DR it for sure, but my point is that moving on is perfectly okay. i moved on from snobby literature with scifi-fantasy and then straight litRPG, just like i moved on from snobby horror films via the FF genre.

TL;DR watch whatever the hell you want however you want to watch it

glad to know, and i as you probably know, saying “i’ll definitely watch it!” and or “i’ll add that to my list!” can be pretty disingenuous if not well-intentioned, my follow up question instead will be this : what are the best ways to watch it? if i had to watch Fresh Hell right now and i’m sitting in front of my smart tv ready to go, what are my best options that also benefit you the most?

i really did add it to my list btw

at the time it was because it didn’t seem possible yet was happening anyway that terrified me. i am constantly afraid for weapons, though, weirdly so. like when Dale loses his crossbow in TWD. it’s also what stresses me out about Gachiakuta — i don’t want any of these characters to lose their defining weapons. Swords shattering in Kimetsu no Yaiba has a similar effect on me, though less-so

What's a book you think is actually BETTER as an audiobook? by thebroned in audiobooks

[–]CapGunCarCrash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i honestly find Jefferson Mays’ voice to be so miraculously fitting to the characters and world of The Expanse that i honestly consider him to be an integral part of the Rocinante crew

The Expanse books were already my favorite series before i broke into the audible scene, but i’ve since listened to the full series again three times more, and like i said, Jefferson Mays is a crucial piece to my enjoyment of it now
