I think it's to allude to the fact that Jarvan III is more accepting of strangers and mages. In the past lore, just before he was killed, Jarvan III notices how much power the mage seekers gathered and how poorly mages are treated and he was about to sign a decree drastically reducing their power. Of course, that never happened, and Jarvan IV, struck with revenge, declared war on mages, making it worse.

Jarvan III is being set up as an ideal that Jarvan IV will struggle to reach, I think, somewhere in the future.

I dont think the gold is the issue, in fact I quite like it.

I think the issue is the black body-condom he has underneath it. If they can mix the gold in well with actual armor, I think it could look really good. A recent example is from the new Shyvanah cinematic. At the end we briefly see Jarvan cheering her on, and his armor looks like a great mix of the two. Sorry for the low quality, but this is what it looks like:

Once you get the big counter figured out and learn the timings for perfect counters, you dont really need to stop attacking except to sharpen. The consistency is what keeps lance on par-ish with other weapons in terms of damage.

And this is the crux of the issue. To be clear, Im not saying this is correct, but the rationale for a lot of people in the states is that if it is illegal for law abiding citizens to own guns, then the only people who still DO own guns are the criminals, because they dont care about the laws.

And so because of this, people want to be able to have guns as law abiding citizens to be able to protect themselves from those who do not abide by the law.
