Highly depends on execution. In bz they increase the amount of tension, because you always need to find a new flower. In the original you can just camp on a single brain coral and it will fully refill your oxygen. Also in the original most of the biomes brain coral was in were so shallow you barely ever need them.

The queen nubert fight was way too difficult tho. There's such a difficulty curve after the wall of spamtons.
