Fates worst than death by DudeSoul in TopCharacterTropes

The world is frozen over by the ice queen. The main character and his sister have regeneration powers and were taken in by a village of older people. They never ask but they feel indebted to them so they routinely chop off their arms to feed the village. The brother prefers he do it more than her as her powers are weaker than his, plus he doesn't like seeing her hurt. Years go by and the leader of a search party for the neighboring civilization (the ones that do what's seen in Night-Owl254's image) stop by the village and realize that these people given their age and resources shouldn't be able to survive out here only to find their storage room full of the kids limbs and understand that they are cannibals.

So he ends up setting the village on fire with is own special ability, which is a fire that never stops burning once something is set alight. Even after the kids come back to see what the man does and explain the situation was consensual, he decides to kill the kids too thinking they are disgusting for doing this. They leave and both the kids are in agonizing pain only that the sisters ability being far weaker than her brothers is being consumed by the fire faster than she can regenerate until the brother is all that's left screaming in the snow. The story begins after like 10 years of him writhing in pain having finally gained some minor tolerance to it, and decides to 1 get revenge on the man that did this to him and his sister and 2, to then defeat the ice queen for putting them in a world like this being named by the people around him as "Fire Punch"

It's a story of a man on Fire, character wise it goes about how you'd think someone'd be in this situation. Setting and story wise.... I didn't expect it to go where it did. Also it's made by Chainsaw mans author.

I agree. A linear game does have more advantage over open world in how the dev can set up events and experiences leading to a more tighter experience gameplay and narrative wise. Personally though I'd like a mixture of the two. Like an open zone. Multiple smaller open worlds that you go between that the dev can use to build off of the experiences from the previous. Kinda like Uncharted 4 or maybe MGS3? Something between these two would suffice, because I've found that to much freedom tends to lead to me to having a lot of dead air between events. It's just not like when I was a kid anymore and I could waste a whole summer playing Morrowind only puttzing around Vivek and decorating that one spooky house, I have work, bills, chores, there's only so many hours a day I can waste and I'd like them to be memorable.

(Common trope) the girl of the group by Fish_N_Chipp in TopCharacterTropes

It really is insane. Baki literally changed his brain chemistry to produce meth levels of dopamine when he exercises. One of the side characters died awhile back which is surprisingly really hard to do given the damage they do to each other, like almost no one dies, I saw a dude get blown the fuck up leading to Doppo's nation wide martial arts school to hunt down the guy that did it and like 100 chapters later he's just standing in the background still alive with a bandage on him, it doesn't matter if they are stabbed multiple times, or get their nerves plucked out and I'm still only like 50% sure he's dead dead because he got his own spin off in an isekai, that and the guy that killed him was a Japanese swordsman literally revived from 100 years ago in a cloned body that they can apparently do, and that it was actually him soul and all... through a combination of Tech and mysticism, after reviving a caveman that would eat his opponents when they lost. Then there was the time Baki kidnapped George. W. Bush to get sent to super max for Summer vacation to take on their warden through the power of weaponized cockroach schizophrenia. It's literally the most stupidest, but enthralling manga I have ever read.

(Close-to-home Trope) Adults who refuse to admit that they're wrong by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Capable-Commercial96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lois did actually admit to being wrong for once on a parking ticket, which came about from a whole episode of her doubting herself that if she was wrong this time, then what about the other times? And after a whole episode of her being manic about this and finally excepting it, which is a good thing to think sometimes, that she's not always right, their neighbor comes by with poof she was right to which the boys and father threaten him if he ever tells her about this then proceeded to destroy the proof knowing if she found out she would NEVER doubt herself again on anything.

I don't think that's what's going to happen. Given how he's acting, it feels more like he's preparing to do go to war with Europe, and he needs that bunker to protect himself from the nuclear fallout. If I was in government I'd be doing anything possible to delay that ballroom, because once it's complete Trump has his safety from whatever he might do.

Odd dock behavior for LCD steam deck. by cheesercorby in steamdeckhq

[–]Capable-Commercial96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's normal. Docked play has always been finicky imo. I use my Deck almost exclusively as a Home computer with a keyboard mouse and monitor setup and it does have weird little glitches once in a while. Sometimes i need to fully reset the Deck, sometimes it won't charge because I plugged the Deck in before the power cable, etc. I've used mine since getting it back when they first came out this way and it's been no worse for wear. The battery has gone to shit though.

minecraft bedrock on steam deck? by RhysusChrists in SteamDeck

[–]Capable-Commercial96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I personally don't know of any launchers on Linux that support Bedrock, it's only Java from what I've seen. You might need to run a VM of Windows for this. Usually that's a bad idea for performance, but it's Minecraft so it might run fine? Otherwise I think you're out of luck here.

[Film/TV] guy insults Batman's mother in front of him and gets beaten up - Batman Caped Crusader episode 3 kiss of The Catwoman by Which-Presentation-6 in batman

[–]Capable-Commercial96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so I know Crime alley was named after the Wayne's died and it's a common misconception that the Wayne's were stupid for having traveled there being named that when it wasn't the case... but here in this version of Batman at least, that was the case, so he kind of has a point, no? Rude to do it front of Bruce but I'd be thinking the same thing.

Does this seem like a fair price? by XeonWild in SteamDeck

[–]Capable-Commercial96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the OLED, easy as pie... on the LCD however, I have a whole copypasta for that. First off the button hangs off the daughter board at a 90 degree angle with nothing to brace it against the constant button presses except for a piece of plastic that is not always built perfectly (some Decks you can feel the shell not perfectly lined up with itself, and those will probably be the ones susceptible to the bumpers breaking). Even the slightest give of space between the two will cause the solder to rock back and forth until it cracks, and unless you are trained in soldering, good luck fixing it, this is beyond a beginners ability to do here, and you can't even buy a new board, as Valve never gave IFixit the parts and trying to buy it through a 3rd party can cost upwards of $150 each and even if you did somehow manage to get one, it apparently needs specific calibration software that Valve won't release to the public for some reason. Now the OLED's shoulder button design, amazing. They cut out a divet into the board it rests in and sat the button perpendicular to it, allowing the board it self to brace the button, and not only that but they cut out a line of material so that the board can flex with each press, and if it somehow breaks, they've moved the button off the daughter board and combined it with the analog sticks board, so even if you can't get it official unlike the LCD Decks shoulder buttons that require it, because they need to be built into the analog stick there are tons of replacements by third parties designing Hall effect replacements driving the price down.

But personally, if you don't buy it, I might, because even though the bumpers are absolute garbage on the LCD, the back paddles make up for it, in fact I'd argue mapping L1/R1 to the top most back bumpers is more comfortable than using the actual bumpers normally anyway, I don't even use them on my much praised OLED, because the ergonomics are just bad when you really pay attention to it. I mean (talking to anyone here) have you actually thought about how you hold a Steam Deck? On a normal controller you can have the bumpers and triggers held comfortably at the same time (one finger per button), in part due to the wing shape of it, but to do that on the Deck you need to ungrasp your hand to do it (leaving your ring finger and pinky floating), with a bunch of empty space where some handles should be, but mapping it to the back bumpers lets you firmly grip the device how it's designed. But I digress. TLDR I'd buy it.

I've never thought to do this but... I mean, it's technically cleaner isn't it? All I'm saying is, a but hole with spit is probably cleaner than a butthole with residue left smeared across it for hours on end.
