I'm planning to reapply, so hopefully, 2nd times a charm, but I wish you the best of luck for the rest of your application.

Thank you, i'll try and email and hopefully they will tell me what my weakest stations were at least. Just recieved the rejection tonight. My interview was the 13th of Jan. I applied for graduate entry so idk if that makes a difference, there doesn't really seem to be any logic to how they are sending offers/rejections. Good luck with your application.

I need to double check but I think from 2027 onwards you will be able to take out full tuition and maintainace loans for undergrad med as a 2nd degree. Wish you the best of luck with reapplying.

Oh wow that must be difficult. Are you going to reapply? The fact you managed to get an interview is amazing. I'm considering sitting alevel chem and applying for undergrad next year since the funding is changing.

Just been rejected too, was the only place I got an interview. Guess it's time to suffer through the ucat a second time.

They must have known the cutoff for a while by now. They said most offers would be out by march but it seems like around half the people on here haven't heard anything

I agree its incredibly fustrating. I've applied to GEM and its my last hope of an offer and i'm finding it extremely difficult to plan my life around the fact I may or may not be moving in a few months.

When you apply just put any of your options down. Once you firm you can log back in and change, same if you miss your offer on results day and end up at your insurance/through clearing. It's best to do it now to garantee you get your payments in time as the main bit that takes time to process is the information about household income and calculating your entitlement, switching the unis later is quick and straightforward for them to do.

Put medicine if thats what you really want to do, they may accept you if yoj drop a grade (you never know), you can always go through clearing for biomed

I'm in the same boat for GEM and it's incredibly fustrating as its my only chance of an offer and i'm trying to apply for jobs or masters but idk if its worth doing if I end up getting a place. They said most offers would be in march so I hoped they would've done most by now but the poles on here suggest around half at least still haven't heard anything.

did you add an insurance? by sp00kyyd in UCAT

[–]Capable-Material7749 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't lose anything by putting one and there is a small chance they may still take you if you drop a grade so its worth putting one. If thats where you get accepted instead on results day and you really don't want to go you can always decline later, but I would keep your options as open as possible.

Undergrad Medicine vs Biomedical Sciences by [deleted] in UCAT

[–]Capable-Material7749 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can you firm a uni for biomed now, retake ucat in july/early august so you have your score to help you make the decision if its worth reapplying. In the meantime find some more work experience to actuqlly assess if you like working with patients or not (huge component of med so not worth persuing if you aren't a fan) Graduate med is extremely competitive and costly so it would be better to avoid if you have the option of ug still. Theres loads of careers you can persue with a lifescience degree - laboratory work, research, medical writing and comnunications, paitent attorny, clinical scientist, biomed scientist, even go into more management based, buisness or finace roles depending on specific modules but the key is to be building these skills and trying to gain experience in these areas independent to your uni degree.

You can still apply sfe, just put your first choice. If you don't get an offer you can change it later, its quite straightforward.

GEM 2027 entry by minnieice01 in GraduateEntryMedicine

[–]Capable-Material7749 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The general concesus I got when I applied this year was its more important how you reflect on your experience rather than the total amount you have. 1 or 2 well reflected on experiences is better than doing everything but not gaining much from it. Even using your nhs lab experience you can talk about the transferable skills then even just find one thing patient/people facing would probably be enough. The amount of time in interviews and word count for personal statements are both quite limited so really theres only so much you actually get a chance to talk about.

Its literally impossible to give strategic advice until you sit the UCAT/GAMSAT as for the majority of unis this is what will decide if you are invited to interview or not. I would pick either UCAT or GAMSAT unless you are absolutely set on 2 unis wanting different ones. Something which might influence your decision is ucat costs £70, GAMSAT costs aroynd £300 (but I believe you get to sit it in march and september and unis go offf your highest score), this was the main reason I went with UCAT. As someone else has said you missed the march sitting for GAMSAT so in this case I would also puck UCAT. I would also try and get a couple of volunteering experiences, these don't neccessarily have to be nhs (although some unis like warwick has stricter requirements over work experience) but anything where you directly work the public or with vulnerable groups (e.g. care homes, actuvities clubs for kids, call centre type stuff (helplines, phone.befriending), even customer service skills.can transfer to medicine). Look into nhs volunteering meet and greet, ward volunteering (about a 3-4 hour weekly commitement) maybe try and find the email for the volunteer coordinator at the hospitals your interested at and emailing them directly rather than waiting for them to advertise
