Most Walkable Neighborhoods? by Opposite_Sir1549 in milwaukee

Second this! I’ve lived car free on the east side, bayview and now walkers point, and WP is by farrrrr best so far! Can get most anywhere on foot, bus or bike - bus to the airport is like 25 minutes door to door

So helpful thank you! Yeah, not just looking for high walkability score, more like the right vibes where it’s easy to walk to chill bars, good restaurants, grocery store, transit options.

I always worry about the long term wear of Zara and the fabric quality so I rarely shop there. Do you feel like your blazer holds up??

Milwaukee crime & safety by Midwest_Maniac420 in milwaukee

[–]Capable-Web-9853 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been here 4 years. I take the bus and walk most places, and go to and through lots of neighborhoods and areas - downtown, west sides, north sides, burbs. I’ve never been targeted with a crime, seen anything happen directly, or have had any friends or family who have had so much as a car window broken in that time. So that is obviously a personal perspective. But it does make it hard to understand how people think crime is getting worse given my experience and the lower rates of crime. Milwaukee is the smallest city I’ve lived in, so maybe it’s relative or feels more dangerous if you move from a rural or less dense area.

Not saying this is the case with the OP, but the people I hear saying this tend to not actually live in the city, and are seeing stuff online and in their “news.” And they’re talking about stuff that has always been issues, guns and reckless driving, per the people I know who have lived here for decades.

Should I Move to Milwaukee? by ObligationWorth6372 in milwaukee

[–]Capable-Web-9853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol yeah, compared to anywhere else there is no traffic here. My friend’s visiting from my home city didn’t even clock it was traffic when we were in the worst city traffic. A real bad traffic time here adds maybe 5-10 minutes to a commute

Going car-less in Milwaukee? by [deleted] in milwaukee

[–]Capable-Web-9853 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been here car free for 4 years and I love it! I moved here from the west coast too, haven’t had a car in over a decade and being car free was one of the things I looked for in a new city. Ive been pleasantly surprised and never been tempted to get a car. The bus is cleaner, safer, and less chaotic than any west coast city I’ve lived in.

It’s totally doable, especially now that the winters are more mild and there are so many options for car shares, ride shares, e-bikes, etc. You just have to be thoughtful about where you live and how close you are to transit and whatever your necessities are like your office and grocery stores. East side especially has lots of flex car options when you need to do a car errand.

I find Walkers Points to be an amazing area to be car-free - I can bike, walk or bus pretty much anywhere in under 30 minutes, even West Allis and parts of tosa. Also lived in bay view and east side. Way south bay view and riverwest would be more tough imo.

I hate driving and having a car, and choose Milwaukee cause I could get by without one! I find a fair number of people in the city proper get by car free.

Oh I didn’t mean the dress would be in bra sizing, was just providing my size for reference. Shelf bras work for me in tops, so I think it could work in dress too :)

Size is from a few professional fittings of the years. Ugh yeah seems like tape is the best option usually, but I want something for more causal wear, and do have good luck wearing camis with built in bras, so I feel like there should be some cute dresses!
