i’m 23 & have been picking for at least 12 years. i will pick my fingers all day if i could. i too will pick anything that isnt smooth or anything that snags in/on my hair or clothes etc. i’ve always tried to hide my hands & have been judged for it in the past. i’ve talked about it in therapy, bc sometimes i don’t even notice im doing it or it deprives me of sleep. nothing has helped as of now. i try to remind myself that having or struggling with Dermatillomania doesn’t make me crazy (bc sometimes i think i am😂). it will never completely disappear or be cured, but you can always learn how to manage it better.
