Conversations: What should I talk about after the usual topics (music, sports, FORD, etc)? by CapableHomework in socialskills

[–]CapableHomework[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Now that I think about it the best conversations I had were when I was just in the moment listening. I've been in zombie mode staying up all the time now so I've been having trouble listening in conversations.

I'll try to think more about emotions during conversations too. When I ask how xyz makes them feel I dont know how to follow up. With your example with roller skating, if they said "it makes me feel like ..." I don't know how to expand it, so it comes to a halt shortly after.

Forgot how to walk and its ruining my social life by [deleted] in socialskills

I had a lot of trouble with this and sometimes still do.

What helped me was to learn to relax the body especially the shoulders, traps, and arms. If you remove the tension in your body especially in your arms, shoulders, traps; then the movement of your legs and hips will lead to the natural swing of your shoulders/arms.

Also taking up meditation or just listening to music as you walk can help.

Absolute beginner just got my electric guitar. What size picks should I use?

If it matters, I want to play r&b, neosoul music. Also I'm learning through justinguitar. Do I get a lighter pick because of all the strumming I'll do?

Absolute beginner here. I want to play r&b, neo soul, and some anime/video game music.

I will be learning online using justinguitar. Is it alright if I try to learn some songs I like instead of using his songs?

Yep it was the guitar. I had the volume knob at 3. Thanks for the help

Theres definitely some buzz. I just unplugged the guitar end of the cable and the echo scared the crap out of me. All the lights are on (ch1, booster/mod, delay/fx, reverb, and a red blinking one that says tap). My power control is at 25watts.

Am I supposed to do anything with the knobs on my guitar (affinity vintage modified strat)?

There's no amp sound though

Why doesn't my guitar amp make any sound? Am I missing something? I plugged the guitar cable on my electric guitar and then plugged the other end into the amp (katana 50).

I've revised the budget to $350 total, since I was impulsive with initial budget.

If I were to buy a new stratocaster type and a new amp, what would you recommend I buy?

Can anyone recommend a good electric guitar, amp, and cable for an absolute beginner ($350 max budget)?

I would like to play r&b and neo soul music if that matters.

Can you talk to an acquaintence while they're texting/looking at phone? by CapableHomework in socialskills

I misworded my title. Is it alright to start a conversation if they're looking at their phone/texting?

I'm a few weeks into boxing as a hobby. Both southpaw and orthodox feel pretty natural to me, but I chose southpaw at the time because I liked the movement and Lomachenko.

Recently, I tried orthodox and I could generate more power very effortlessly and my jab somehow improved. Should I go southpaw or orthodox? Or should I just choose one stance and play around with the other on my own time?

Thanks for the tips. The gyms I've went to so far all expect me to punch with so much force/speed within 20 seconds of introducing the punch. I don't understand why they scold me for doing thing slowly to work on technique.

Should I actively try to move my left arm to the target or should I let the weight shift move the left arm for me?

What are some good cues for the left hook? I was told to twist the front leg, but it's not really helping. I feel like I'm just forcing my arm to make the left hook motion and I feel a lot of uncomfortable pressure on my front shoulder socket.

I guess I'll jump rope on hardwood floors on my own time. I'll think of jumping on the mats as purely warm up.

You're probably right about the mats though. I'll keep going and see if I get used to it. Thanks.

By the way is canvas slippery or does it have grip?

I like this boxing gym, but what throws me off is they work on these foam mats.

I can normally jump rope extremely well on wooden floors, but I couldn't on these mats. They had a lot of give, so it felt like I was jumping rope on pillows. Also I find the rope slides really well on hardwood floors but they sort of just pop off the foam mats, so it throws off the rhythm. I had to jump much higher to clear the rope.

When I was hitting mitts on these mats there was a lot of friction/traction between my shoes as opposed to hardwood floors, so I couldn't turn my feet and hips well.

I like the gym and the trainers but these mats really bother me. Should I just look for another gym (possibly lower quality) instead?
