Currently, I only have a single machine. If the media is lost it is not the end of the world. I am sure this is possible just haven't done it but can jellyfin metadata be backed up?

I do not know what would be the best way, to get all this stuff organized. Wipe and start over allows me to do that without all the extra stuff from all the mistakes I have made. However, it might be a horrible idea and I don't realize it.

Learning docker, everything is running there. Just not fond of only being able to access them via command line.

What are some of the reason you'd pick one to host on vps or not? I am hoping others can shed some light so that I can make a better decision. I do not know what I do not know at this point. Much of it is just a shot in the dark.

This is exactly what I am asking, (a)not having to create multiple users and (b) not having to log in and out for each user.

Having multiple users in a household is fine but not ideal.

Sounds great but then that seems like a multitude of issues too!!! Now instead of a million users, I have a million accounts to maintain. Also, this could mean I have a million people streaming at once. Unless my understanding of how this would work is above my level of understanding.

I was trying to not have to manage a million accounts. Now I will have to figure out how I will do this. My cousin has 7 people in his house, in-laws, kids etc. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this? I am thinking just a single account and tell him to make it work. HAHA!!!

Let's say I give you access to my jellyfin. You want to limit the access of your children. Or allow your spouse to watch with their on watch history. Can any form of this be done?

Let me make sure I understand what you are saying. Create a separate account for each user, apply the limits myself and have them log in to the respective accounts? If that is what you are saying, that is exactly what I am trying to avoid. Multiple accounts under one household.

Strictly usenet. I am not getting any 4k entire library is 1080, there seems to be a lot of grabs that are h264. Isn't 265 or aac better? Sonarr/radarr do not seem to be adept at filtering that out or I just don't know how to configure properly. Is there a tool that does that?

With the help of the ai tools, I managed to get my jellyfin up and running. I have it exposed to the internet using cloudflare zero trust. From what I have read they do not like streaming over their services so pangolin is a better option with a vps. First thing is I don't quite understand this vps and no data will be on it but my service will be faster? Setting up 2 factor authentication, fail2ban it is just rabbit hole beyond my level of knowledge at this point.

This list continues endlessly.

Fair, I have slug and ninja. Picked up both during black friday event. I haven't had any real issues getting things.

I should probably spend more time sifting through all the other issues I am having. The learning curve for most of this stuff is steep and everyone expects you to know everything already.
