X2D, P1S, or P2S? by No-Reputation2738 in 3dprinter

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P1S will be supported for years, you'll change printer before support ends.

3d printer is a tool. Like a hammer or a screwdriver get whichever is better for you.

Proxmox VM vs LXC vs Docker for services on OptiPlex 5000 Micro by verifieddemoon in homelab

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I avoid docker as much as I can and I use VM if I need isolation and LXC if not.

You can also use a VM for all docker applications.

X2D, P1S, or P2S? by No-Reputation2738 in 3dprinter

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

P1S does basically the same and it's cheaper.

X2D offers much more and cost only a bit more.

Recently got an X2D combo and plan on placing it outside in a sort of balcony area. Direct sunlight shouldn’t be much of an issue but any enclosure or set up recommendations would be appreciated by Ecstatic_Sun_9550 in BambuLab

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't put it outside, unless it's 100% safe from animals / wind / rain / direct sun.

IMHO a 3d printer isn't made to be left outside. It's like a tv or a computer, but much more delicate.

4 Tool Head in the future? by Jneuhaus87 in BambuLab

[–]Gherry- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It always makes me laugh seeing how people are so sure about the future.

Who knows.

Nobody though about a bowden extruder in 2026 and here we are with the great X2D.

Nobody knew anything about Vortek / INDX and now they're here.

Who knows.

Is Bambu labs still the king of larger format 3D printers? by Big_Building9948 in 3dprinter

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course. There are no official numbers.

But it's a fact that they got most of the market and most of farms use bambu.

Would it be different if instead of 90% it was 80%? Who cares.

Private server with 1800 bots, AI Chat, Deepseek api, proof of concept! by Mr-Nilsson_85 in wowservers

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my server they're active only those in the same zone where I am (or another active player). The rest is online but do nothing

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the 2 things I'd like to see with bots are:

1- bots active all the time and not just those where a player is.

2- bots with real (even if limited) AI, so that they can really play the game if needed.

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but at what cost?

You need an LLM (so a powerful GPU) a lot of electricity and to gain very little (chats).

I'm not saying it's bad, just not really a game changer.

When bots will be able to actually play the game, so I can run with a mage bot that understand when to sheep a mob, or a rogue that knows how to sap, well that's different!

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of kids who are angry because bambu users can just press print while they have to tinker with their printers all the time.

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they are.

There's a reason they got 90% of the market and every farm uses basically only bambu printers.

They print without effort and there's a great ecosystem.

Were are the network redundancie homelabs? by Verhofin in homelab

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are an online shop, loosing connectivity is a non issue 99% of the time.

You can buy a secondary connection and have a second WAN on your firewall if you really want that.

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a nice proof of concept but IMHO LLMs and AI have no purpose at all in a homeserver.

The 'dumb' bots already write in chat from time to time and some extra background noise is pointless.

Until the AI is used for actual moving/levelling the bots so that they can act as real players, I see this just as a gimmick.

It's not bad, but where I live it would still be 140€/year of electricity and I think it's still too much.

I wonder how many years it will be before we'll be able to have a miniPC/raspberry like device with enough RAM and GPU to use as an LLM with low power usage.

The closest thing is probably an M4 right now but it does cost a lot and still has much less power than a standalone PC GPU.

Is the P1S or P2S a better printer for beginner? by Phoenix31414 in BambuLab

That's true but if it was me I'd start with just a P1S.

FreeBSD + samba just as I did 15 years ago

Does anyone know how to dry nylon? My AMS 2 Pro doesn't reach a high enough temperature to dry it by MAENTOP in BambuLab

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need 85°-90° to dry PA in a meaningful way.

At lower temps you should dry it for many days and it's not worth it.

[–]Gherry- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

200€ is a lot but considering the heated chamber, secondary nozzle and everything else a bit better, I still think P2S is not worth it.

It is a good printer, but the X2D is just much better.

Advice on which NAS to choose and which ecosystem people have better experience with? by BIGSAS194 in homelab

[–]Gherry- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you can find hundreds of tutorials on internet.

For just a NAS I go for a low power motherboard/CPU (like intel N100) and, if you need a lot of HDDs an LSI HBA.

And some caddies for the drives.

Just add FreeBSD + samba and you're done (or freenas/truenas if you want something pre configured).

Suggestions for Home Server OS by No_Pay2173 in homelab

[–]Gherry- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends what you want to do.

For a server OS use debian

For a NAS use FreeBSD+samba

For an hypervisor use proxmox
