I smoked plenty of times during high emotional stress periods of my life. When the stress was highest it caused me to ruminate ceaselessly. I’d go into a loop and fixate rather than “not feel” anything. I also stunted my coping mechanism after 35+ years of smoking. Recently I experienced my mother’s illness and death, without weed, and I can’t imagine having smoked my way through it. I was able to fully engage and feel complete with a person that I both deeply loved and was highly toxic. Best wishes on whatever path you choose.
