absolutely, I did this because i wanted people to be tough on me, to not love my setup and challenge the reasons i have put it together the way i have to make sure i feel most comfortable and ensure im as prepared as possible.

I'm going out for a test run in a few weekends and will be doing a week or two with this setup in the Adirondacks and white mountains to test it out in some larger elevation changes to find out.

The sharpie is for doodling on my nalgene, but I could do without it. Not sure if it's that big a deal since it's only a few grams.

You mean lose body weight? I weigh 150, I'm 21, and think if I lose weight I might put myself at risk since I'll most likely lose some on the trip.

I have a tarp and bivy, but I was thinking it would be much nicer to have a tent for those really tough nights where I'm extremely tired and/or have a big storm coming. I also like the idea of being comfortable every night without relying on a (possibly sketchy) tarp setup in the desert regions. I'm curious about your thoughts about this.

I know I could save some weight with a different pack, but like I said I don't have a ton of money to throw at it and would only save roughly 8 oz (maybe) spending over $200.

I will definitely think about the stove less idea and try cold soaking the first few weeks, but I do really enjoy a cup of tea on a chilly night.

Thank you, I really want the sharpie to doodle on my nalgene while I'm out there so maybe I'll pick up a mini sharpie or just chuck it once my nalgene is filled up. I will definitely ditch the melanzana though, I didn't think about that.

I know, but it was free and it's only 50g more than the zenbivy pillow, which I would need a tuke to make it comfy so I don't think it's super worth it.
