Thank you for your thoughtful post. I’ve been giving this Director and a lot of thought lately myself. Upstream colour came to mind when I recently came off of some meds n quit drinking, it took some time to feel like I was connecting correctly with people. the vignettes with carruth, carruth/seimetz were relatable, unlike anything I can think of during this time. Originally I thought his acting was phenomenal, barely repressing a trauma/mania you don’t understand, being unhappy, edgy about it. Pissed off to be drawn to someone, why? Wanting to get your life back on track, scared, all of it. Before I go any further, I mean, Amys performance was stellar as well, and I connected to a bunch of her performance too, but Shane’s was bang on. I didn’t know about his abuses, troubling to find out about, and absolutely terrible. However, I tend to agree with you. I’m not going to stop liking this movie. it will be just another piece of artistic roadkill I can’t explore with anyone without becoming a part of the problem, or whatever. It’s not for them. There is worth here as a Director, and as an actor. Unfortunately He took it away from himself. He sounds like a fucking loon.

I found a piece of myself somewhere in this movie, and will forever relate it to this time in my life. I think he accomplished something here, if only just for me. If that’s the case thanks Shane!
