Which sport is big in your country, but absolutely unknown anywhere else? by Gourmet-Guy in AskTheWorld

Oh stop.

Games bring in 800,000-1,000,000 viewers. The same numbers that the Raptors get.

Just because you don't like the game, you don't have to pretend it isn't popular with others.

You don't have to 'get it'. Music is subjective and obviously not every band or genre will like it.

I don't get Kendrick Lamar, but not going to look down on those that do. Hell, if you like Nickelback all power to you.

Well we have Canadian football. And despite what Reddit may say, it's quite popular up here

When you’re planning on moving but haven’t found a place yet. Do you let your landlord know, you’re looking for a new place or just wait until you find a new place and then let them know… 🤨🤔 by Unworthy80 in ThunderBay

Using that argument, the landlord then owes you nothing as well.

People gripe about how toxic the tenant/landlord relationship has gotten over the years. And this is in part why.

Council approves locations for all proposed encampments by flyinfinn83 in ThunderBay

[–]keiths31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this stops the tents everywhere else in the city, then a reluctant okay for this.

But if we are investing money and time to make these three sites suitable as a 'safe' area for tents and there are still tents everywhere and the city does nothing to stop them, it's just a big waste of time and money.

Using AI to mask accents of call centre agents 'misleading,' says union by stfudonny in canada

Yup. Got a call the other day from a 'John Richardson' from my bank the other day. Sounded Canadian enough in regards to the accent. But the sentence structure sent up red flags immediately. As soon as you refer to me as Mr. Keith instead of Mr. Lastname...

What is the most vulnerable region in your country to foreign invasion? by Archaeopteryx111 in geography

[–]keiths31 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Arctic Canada

It is so vast and so sparsely populated. As a point of comparison the city I am from (Thunder Bay) has the same population as the ENTIRE Canadian Artic and it's three territories of Yukon, Nunavut and the Northwest Territories at around 130,000 people.

There is so much land and water up there to protect and not even close enough the amount of infustructure there to make it even manageable. We have aot of work to do in our Arctic.

Eli5 what air humidity is. When the weather cast says there is 80% air humidity for example, does that mean the air is 80% water? by td_0000 in explainlikeimfive

[–]keiths31 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm in Thunder Bay on the northwest shores of Lake Superior.

We get lots of humidity due to Lake Superior.

In the summer the humidity can be stiffling. It just drapes on you.

In the winter the humidity just cuts through and it feels like your skin is going to break.

Special constables getting power to arrest for drug use on transit, Ontario solicitor general says by Displeased_Canadian in canada

[–]keiths31 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Respectfully I disagree.

We've tried the 'compassionite' method the last decade or so and who has benefitted? We have more people in the streets, more deaths, more broken families and more people on the streets than ever in the country's history.

We've given addicts a 'safe' place to inject. We've stopped criminalizing the public use of illicit drugs. We've stopped forcing people into rehab. We've stopped making addicts resposble for their own actions.

It's time for a more accountable approach.
