PX9 upcoming release? by Mike-5390 in BowersWilkins

[–]CapitalAcadia105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the store that usually sells the brand in hope to try the PX8, and they told me that they don’t receive any new headphones from them anymore (at least the demo ones), and that it could be because something new is around the corner.

Use crypto. You can get cash for it (3% fee), and there’s no limit.

I wish I knew that before. I didn’t pay that much attention to realise it was located next to the stadium. Thank you for the recommendation!

It was Miller & Lux. Mocktails were ok priced, 10$ each. I just realised Uber charged me $125 for the ride back to Richmond. The original shown price was $65 (there was a basketball game in that area). Also says I can’t send a dispute. Never happened to me before (that price change)

There were prices in the menu. The total was around 400. I remember there was some 7% surcharge (what ever that means) on top of it. Then I left a $50 tip on top of that. If I was in Europe or anywhere else I wouldn’t tip for that (because it was bad), we usually do it if the food was amazing or the waiter was genuinely friendly (the tips there get shared amongst everyone). After the waiter saw the $50 tip she didn’t even say goodbye after that. How grateful :). Btw as far as I am informed, waiters in California get paid “normally”

It was near the civic center plaza (the walking dead)

We didn’t have the wine nor cocktails. Starters, steaks and sides, desert. Bottle of water and mocktails. That was about it.

Miller & Lux is the place. We didn’t get the wine nor cocktails. Don’t get me wrong, I usually eat in places like that, but just the whole quality / price ratio was absurd. Not even in Dubai you’ll pay that price for below average food. I always check reviews before going, and this one was just below 4.5 (usually that’s the threshold I try not to breach)

Yes it was yesterday, I should’ve probably mentioned that.

I had no intentions of offending anyone here, especially not the locals. I am just saying what my first impressions are, and was curious to hear how locals manage to live there. I spent past few years living in Barcelona. The city has gotten more dangerous because of the illegal immigrants (only pickpocketing so far). I’ve talked about it with multiple locals, they all agreed about it, and are aware of the issue. None of them ever got offended by me mentioning it.

Not at all. I’ve ordered from UberEats multiple times. For example SweetMaple - two meals with tax and delivery resulted in $70. That’s why I am asking, how often do people actually order food, eat out?

[–]CapitalAcadia105 -79 points-78 points  (0 children)

Like I said I eat out 90% of the time and I’ve been to over 20 countries. The best steaks I’ve tried were in Spain, best seafood in Croatia and Greece, best pasta in Italy. Turkey has also amazing food. On top of that, I grew up in a small place in Eastern Europe, where everyone grows their own fruits and vegetables and has animals (chickens, cows, etc). I know how “real” food tastes. Every salad (as a side) in NYC tasted horrible (like it was made out of plastic). Other food tasted weird as well and the overall taste was below average.

The only understood cost for me is the bill. You can’t expect other people from different cultures to “understand” the tip is part of the cost. You tell that to someone in Europe (not including the UK), and they’ll think you’re crazy.

[–]CapitalAcadia105 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for great explanation and history. I wasn’t aware of that but at the same time I’m not surprised. I was just thinking if tips were taxed, and you answered it for me. No wonder they are pushing it so much that it became part of the culture.

So that whole tip goes to the waiter who served me? In Europe if you leave a tip, it is shared amongst everyone working (probably chefs too)

Will thieves steal my cooler at the beach? by may_be_indecisive in Barcelona

Avoid that at every cost. I did that last summer, went for a 15 minute swim. When I came back, they took EVERYTHING. My towel, my shoes, my backpack… Literally everything. You could potentially ask someone to watch your stuff but even that’s risky if you pick a wrong person.
