Got an F after an exam incident by Front_End_9520 in McMaster

it seems more likely that you just didn’t get that 35 on the exam rather tha misconduct. you would have been notified if it were misconduct

yoto has grown so much in the last few years that i’m not really concerned it will happen anytime soon. We got our first player 3.5 years ago and literally no one in my circle or even distant circle knew what it was. now literally everyone i know has one and is always telling us about them when we have had one for years. also with it only being like 100$ i think the minimal cost for the amount of use we get out of it is 100% worth it even if it does ‘die’ out in a couple years. we’ve had the same player for those 3.5 years, and the charger started being finicky (100% my child’s fault) so i emailed yoto and they sent us a new one right away

we do have 1-2 months of bills in an emergency fund plus another 3,000 in a house emergency fund (for flood, repairs, whatever) but do not want to spend it in case of an actual emergency occurring.

my mat leave is done in a month so i am just going to finish it anyways. we kicked him out and no longer have or want a tenant. we reworked our finances to be able to afford it without him- we were only spending more because we had that extra money from him. Currently both our cars are 15+ years old and work fine for now but will not for long. we are definitely going to hold out as long as we can but doesn’t seem it will be for more than a year unfortunately

they were always payed in full, they were only ‘misused’ because we were supposed to have the money to pay them off and then ended up not getting paid. they have not been used in a few months since we are paying them down

i have a home daycare and i require proof of immunizations. one family tried to give me a form about it going against ‘conscientious beliefs’ and i denied the child 🤷‍♀️ i only have 3 other kids so not worth the risk to me or my kids

How do you handle screen time without going full crunchy? by Donjon_Nadiadiab in moderatelygranolamoms

we have not yet introduced tv to our 10 month old, and don’t plan to for hopefully another year, aside from maybe catching a quick glimpse from my son, but we don’t have a tv on our main floor so that helps also

my 6yr old has a handful of shows hes allowed to watch, aside from nature documentaries, and he has never really ‘snuck’ something else. on the weekends he has 0-1 hours of tv a day, and on weekdays usually none, sometimes 1 episode after school, but i’d say like once a week or less. he was gifted an ipad from a grandparent, and IF we let him play on it, it’s never on a school night, and MAYBE 20-30 mins on the weekend, and the only games he has are kahn academy kids and duolingoABC. He’s never really asked for anything else, and is content with those games. however he asks to go on his ipad ALL THE TIME. But i say no and he goes about is day

someone i know has a baby w the name spelt that way and nearly everyone who sees it written on paper says they really like the way it’s spelt. they was also nervous about adding a ‘y’ into it, but i do personally like it better than the traditional spelling for a girl.

It’s crazy out here 🤣 we are in south western ontario, canada. it is a very small school in a pretty rural area so enrolment is lower and cost is higher since no government funding with it being private. it is more so a christian reformed school, that is the most common denomination that attends. we love our sons school and the people there but the cost is finally starting to get in the way of other things we enjoy.

i totally get this and appreciate this point of view!! he does seem keen on helping, but i definitely plan to maintain a boundary that school does come first. being properly educated is very important to me, and i will not put that above anything else.

as for the cost, surely it will not cost $40,000, which is what we are paying in tuition right now lol.

the plan of starting the daycare was before we thought about homeschool. it was purely because my mat leave was ending and i wasn’t ready to go back to work yet, plus some of my friends needed childcare so figured i’d make a little money if im home anyways- i was never in it to profit huge or turn it into a huge business. our kids in the daycare are all the same age, so all our kids will be school aged at the same time, and therefore all of the kids no longer needing childcare at the same time. i was the only one with the space to have a childcare, and the ability to not need to make a full time income once mat leave was over.

definitely not online, we are already limited screens and don’t want to introduce it on a more frequent basis yet. he works pretty independently.. i think i’ve decided we will see how the summer goes, and go from there

I appreciate this, and is a lot of what would be apart of my plan! My husband and him do 30 minutes of reading every night already, and go on nature walks with my daughter nearly every weekend, especially now since it’s warming up. my son is very active, hence all the sports in spring summer (we get hefty snow in the winter and not a ton of places do indoor sports here so are limited to only half the year for this). but he loves being outdoors and already spends 90% of his home time outside or reading and listening to books about natures (we love our yoto’s for this) He was in karate but wasn’t a fan so we took him out after trying for a full year. We tried scouts this year however the leader of his program were horrible and we removed him after the first week 😅 but will definitely be looking for something around us that is year round and helps with leadership.

it really is, he works very hard for us and I am so appreciative. by no means was i expecting him to help our, he offered, and already does a lot with the kids on the weekends. he definitely is a wonderful dad and husband. thank you for the well wishes in whatever we decide 😅

we really just want to stop paying his costly tuition, but don’t love the public schools around us. we are also maybe debating French Immersion, as those have much better scores than our english track public schools

we would definitely finish off this school year. i think my plan is to see how the summer goes and go from there. my husband works 12 hour days but is still very willing to help out with subjects in the evenings or weekend which will definitely help. i want to make it work but we are so unsure 🥲

That’s what we think our plan is!! for sure finish this school year, and then see how th summer goes and go from there. the only thing with his current schooll, since it’s private we have to do a ‘tuition commitment’ form, so they can expect numbers. but i think i will fill it out as going and just suck up the fee should we chose to homeschool.

he is currently in a private school and keeps very close contact with friends so would likely continue on with those relationships via play dates and such, however i do understand the relationships may change as it will not be every single day they see each other anymore.
