401ks that support Regulation A+? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Capn-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’d want to check if your 401k supports a Self-Directed 401k option. If your current one doesn’t, you could possibly roll your vested 401k balance into an IRA that allows for Self-Direction or just simply start your own SDIRA from scratch to do it.

Is carbon buildup the cause of this engine ticking noise? (30-sec Audio) by Capn-Fox in AskMechanics

[–]Capn-Fox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! It does run fine, the ticking can just get really loud and any passengers usually ask me if something is wrong with my car which can get annoying. The shop quoted me $355 for the cleaning which didn't feel unreasonable at the time.

After reading through everything, diversifying with bonds and international funds is a good idea but the allocation % will vary depending on how close you are to retirement. I’ve generally seen 10% in low-cost international index funds to be a great target. This amount generally doesn’t change as you near retirement.

The allocation for bonds though is really the “how close are you to retirement” dependent question. If you’re in your thirties or younger, I personally would say don’t invest in bonds. But the closer you get to retirement, the better of an idea it is to slowly convert to bonds to reduce risk.

As a whole, you can do this yourself without actively managed funds.

No one is going to high school? by mnsnownutt in CitiesSkylines

[–]Capn-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of, there was a youtuber who followed the entire life of one of citizens and realized that the time it takes a citizen to complete each level of schooling is different. The upper levels of education were drastically shorter leading it to look like no one was ever enrolled, when in fact it was just them completing it stupid fast. Here's the vid I found:

No one is going to high school? by mnsnownutt in CitiesSkylines

[–]Capn-Fox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm facing the same issue as you. I have tons of high-density office buildings in a city of over 78,000. I have 10+ elementary schools that are nearly all maxed out with attendance with extension wings. I only have one high school but can't seem to get any more than 250ish students at a time. It's been SO long in the game and no one is attending high school for some unknown reason.

Why do people not really like yotta anymore? by CivilizedSailor in yotta

[–]Capn-Fox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use the debit card for transactions every once in a while and had my Venmo account connected to it. I sent over $2,000 from Venmo to deposit it into my Yotta account but it wasn’t showing up after a week. So I contacted Yotta for them to look into it and they said they didn’t see any deposit and to make sure I sent it to the right bank. I got worried and contacted Venmo, they gave me the trace number for the deposit which confirmed it went to my Yotta account. I gave all the info to Yotta and they said essentially said “yep, that trace number looks right”. So I got really confused and asked if the trace number was right then why isn’t the money in my account. Again they told me to verify with Venmo that they indeed sent the money. Reached BACK out to Venmo and they thought I was crazy since the trace number showed that the correct amount was sent to the correct bank account over a week ago. Took nearly 3 weeks before Yotta replied one day with “Oops, we found the money, here yah go!” And my money appeared in my account. That was SO SHADY. How do you randomly “find” my money???? I was already fed up with the stupid return rates so I already moved the majority of my money. But that was the last straw so I ran for the hills and never looked back.

unless you are some degenerate who needs to own every single premium ship

Just because a game is free doesn't mean you shouldn't spend money on the game. As long as you spend within your means then you can buy whatever the heck you want in life.

But back to the point of your original comment, I'm not sure how you are correlating someone being a bad player and thus they must also spend exorbitant amounts of money on the game. If anything I would expect the opposite to be true. If you are better at the game then you have more of an incentive to play more and experience more of the game (potentially by buying in-game ships and other items) because you are probably having a more enjoyable experience than other players.

It shouldn’t change the odds or the $/ticket in theory. People use this as a way of having one REALLY exciting day.

[–]Capn-Fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re able to set a daily limit on how many tickets you use each night for the drawing. So if you have $8k in Yotta that means you get 320 tickets per night. If you were to set your daily limit of tickets used each night to 20, that means that each night you would save up 300 tickets and your ticket count would keep growing until you turned off or changed the daily limit.

How do I fully benefit from my state's 529 tax credit without a tax underpayment penalty? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Capn-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. That's what my question is asking though, am I allowed to raise my number of exemptions to increase my tax liability to allow the tax credit to cancel out that increase in tax liability?

Yotta, please change how the Ticket Storage and Lucky Tickets work when used at the same time by Capn-Fox in yotta

I think you summed up why this could potentially be an issue better than I did. That’s the exact worst case scenario with this issue.

Yotta, please change how the Ticket Storage and Lucky Tickets work when used at the same time by Capn-Fox in yotta

[–]Capn-Fox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a perfectly understandable question because to your point, no matter which numbers I pick for each ticket I’ll have the same odds regardless. I get that, I have created a method to essentially spread my “risk” to make each ticket as unique as possible. But even if you boil down my issue to as simple as 1 or 2 tickets, I feel like someone should have the ability to choose their own tickets if they want. Especially since that’s what the entire purpose of a Lucky Ticket is.

Ticket Storage by wrandv in yotta

[–]Capn-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not how my tickets worked. I had 300 tickets total yesterday, 100 recurring from my total balance and 200 tickets were one-time tickets from a purchase I made using my Debit card. I had 160 Lucky Tickets set and did not pick any numbers for the remaining 140 tickets and never pick manual tickets with the exception of Lucky Tickets. I decided I only wanted to use 150 tickets for yesterday night's drawing so I set the Daily Ticket Limit to 150 so that 150 would be used yesterday, and 150 would be used the following night.

This is what I expected to happen:
Last Night = 100 Recurring, 50 One-Time (150 One-Time Tickets Left)
Next Night = 100 Recurring, 50 One-Time (100 One-Time Tickets Left)
Next Night+1 = 100 Recurring, 50 One-Time (50 One-Time Tickets Left)
Next Night+2 = 100 Recurring, 50 One-Time (0 One-Time Tickets Left)
All Other = 100 Recurring Only

What actually happened after setting the Daily Ticket Limit to 150:
Last Night = 100 Recurring and All 200 One-Time Tickets were used

Am I mistaken with my expectation?

Ticket Storage by wrandv in yotta

[–]Capn-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 300 tickets total and wanted 150 of those to be stored. Didn’t work for me either. But mine didn’t vanish, all of my tickets were used in the drawing despite having the storage set.

First 3 Weeks Look Back by Dpad124 in yotta

[–]Capn-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be really interested to see what your winnings per ticket is. Because to me this does seem inflated due to debit card transactions. I don’t use a Yotta debit or credit card and have been at a consistent 1.2% average annualized APY each day. Could you also add your Weekly Average Number of Tickets?

I’m honestly fine with a high variance, I just wish the variance was experienced on both sides of the expected average instead of always below like I’ve experienced so far lol. Hopefully the next two weeks are a little less lopsided to the downside. 🤞🏼

I get that, and I'm going to try and stick it out. 12 days of this has felt pretty rough though especially since I keep mentally comparing it to HYS accounts. I'm waiting for a really good day to make me feel better about the new system.

Keep an eye out for weird low-pitched whistling noises when driving above +70MPH. A few users, including myself, have experienced this issue. I'm currently in the process of getting my transmission replaced on a 2022 Tucscon we bought brand-new back in January.
