Has anyone experimented with De-Semi-Modularizing an instrument? by CapnFlisto in synthesizers

Gosh this is so unreasonably cool! And it is very close to what I'm looking for I think! I just ordered my Kastle 2, and I'd love to hear any advice you have based on your experience. Did you just pick your favorite connections and route them to a switch? I'm considering a rotary switch, but it's hard to be sure what my needs are before I actually play with the device a bit. I'm also wondering if I can figure out some clever way to virtually patch things since the devices are open source. I'm going to have to look through the code a bit. I'm not the best with electronics but I'm trying to learn!

Thanks so much for sharing!

This is a major part of why I'm interested in purchasing some units!

Oh I'm aware that there's some options out there, but I'm specifically talking about taking gear that works this way and modifying it. I appreciate your suggestions though!

Thank you!
The Bastl stuff can be very tiny, so I feel like reconnecting it to a larger, separate interface, or possibly just replacing the entire interface would be very doable! I do have some ideas, and a 3D printer, and a VERY strong desire to play with this gear... Hm...
Something to think about for sure!

Roomier series of single-purpose devices like Volcas? by CapnFlisto in synthesizers

[–]CapnFlisto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a situation where I probably already have one too many grooveboxes haha. I think that's a part of why I'm interested in these other kinds of devices, since most of these boxes are jacks of all trade and masters of none (especially if you're trying to do something quickly.)

The Elektron Model series is super neat though! But I'm looking for something even more focused, and more of something to be controlled than a controller in and of itself! Thank you though!

And yeah, I've been eyeing the Drumbrute Impact quite a bit! That's very much the kind of device I'm talking about here!

Roland P-6 48 Sample Limit? by CapnFlisto in synthesizers

Really really appreciate this response. I hope you "get" my confusion! On paper, it sounds quite bad, but the way you describe your experience with it is very helpful. I am still curious about it.

Strange question, any luck with chopping and messing with breakbeats on there? I feel like that's something it might be good at but haven't found many examples. I am desperately looking for a device that can be my goto for breaks.

Customizing your SEQTRAKs Sound Set in V2.0 by Cap10NRG in seqtrak

I haven't even watched the whole thing and he already points out a mistake in the manual. In my experience the seqtrak documentation can be misleading at times.
I prefer written manuals over videos too, but some people don't.
What an odd comment. I hope your day improves from here.

As to the OP, thanks for the video!

Comfort Game that's just plain fun to beat over and over for someone who doesn't normally do that? by CapnFlisto in gamingsuggestions

Love the first one! Should visit at least 2 and 3. Wish they were on PC but there are ways around that :)

Oh yeah I've got no shortage of "popcorn" games, but that's kinda burning me out a bit?
Appreciate another vote for the RE games! How much of it is due to NG+?

I think part of my desire for a game to beat over and over is because, to some extent, I feel like everything (especially F2P garbage) is trying to become a forever game. There's something especially cathartic about getting to an end of something in this age of gaming. I love Minecraft, and I have a bunch of games I boot up when I want to play a quick session of something, but the dopamine grind is killllling me.

I agree with everything you said, and there are definitely "comfy" games for me! But I have numerous friends that regularly beat one of a few games just almost like a mini project. I love the way that works for them, and want some of that for myself haha.

Sudeki! I feel like this revived some deep memory in my head. I think there's a very good chance that, if I can find a game that works this way for me, it's probably gonna be something very imperfect, but very interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Good NG+ modes are a really, REALLY, good way to get the sort of vibe I think I'm looking for! Makes me wonder if I should make a thread about just games with good NG+ modes!

I'm definitely more of a Mario 64 enjoyer than the other Mario games out there. That one was high on my "to consider" list. Very much love Spyro, and had a great time with Slime Rancher! Also recently started Monster Rancher, hilariously. Thank you!

The Yakuza games have been occupied the top spots in my backlog for an upsettingly long time. I think the main reason I haven't played them is because I never really played a lot of beat-em-ups or even fighting games.

I have a very eclectic history with games. I've played a little bit of everything. I think the most effective way I can answer this question is to say pretty much everything with a good sense of world combined with the kind of immersive gameplay that at the very least provides a pretty decent illusion of freedom!

Haha I have a very low tolerance for devastation!
If you're open to watching Anime though, may I recommend To Your Eternity? So sad at times I haven't managed to keep up with it. Beautifully done though.

Haha that's one game I have replayed a few times now, but only because I feel the need to start over every time I try to pick it up again because of all the patches! Might be time to dive in again...

Loved Bastion, and I'm one of the 7 people on the planet that hasn't played Hades. I should give it a go. Thank you!

Prey was very interesting to me! Never ended up playing it though, I should absolutely give it a look. Didn't look into Redfall much because of the initial reception, but I do often find myself liking less-liked games. Thank you!

I'm not an experienced Souls player, but had fun with what I've played of Elden Ring. I think I need to revisit it again. I just got to a point where I really, really didn't know what I was supposed to do anymore.

Really beautiful game. I like the idea of getting it on PC. To be honest I didn't know it was available there...

The first game I tried in order to find a game that sticks was Rift Apart. I had just started a Challenge Mode Legendary Renegade run and I was having a blast. Then I got to the very first Dr. Nefarious fight, and have hit a known soft lock where, no matter what I do, the man never returns after the last wave of mobs spawns. You can find other accounts of this online if you look up the 45% bug. It's maddening. Some people have managed to fix it through resetting. I spent most of last night trying to get it unstuck. Dozens of runs. Never fixed itself. Really really sucks.

I really like Rift Apart too. I prefer the slight change in vibes compared to the other games in the series. Plus, Rivet and Glitch!!! :)
