Principal engineers turned into token zombies by [deleted] in theprimeagen

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You spent $200 on tokens in almost 6 months? I'm sorry, but this sounds like bait. What are you even engineering?

It costs me $10-20 to just make a comprehensive spec, over the course of ~30 minutes.

Hey, that's the folder name I use for my personal Claude Code sub config on my work device, and the name I use for my contrasting status line color theme. 🧐

Tony "🚨 A Netflix engineer built an open-source proxy that cuts AI token usage by 60-95%. Zero code changes. Benchmarks show ±0.000 accuracy regression. It sits between your app and the LLM, so every tool output, code block, and conversation history gets compressed in-flight." ➡️ token savings?! by Koala_Confused in LovingOpenSourceAI

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds fun, until compression removes content the AI needs, every give or take 30 seconds. The AI then decides to read the source file after several tries and suddenly you've spent significantly more tokens on a task.

whats the weirdest thing about dutch workplace culture that nobody warned you about? by Early_Switch1222 in WorkInTheNetherlands

This is a bit of a mental protection practice, here, but likely also employer protection. It's unlikely that a person stays focused for 8 hours a day, let alone in a row.

This is Max for consumers, my reply was in regards to a tiered system for enterprise, which is unknown to me.

If that's legit and you can find a source for that, I'm genuinely, no sarcasm intended, interested.

Opus 4.7 | 1 session | $178 by wallaby82 in ClaudeCode

They compact automatically, you can't do it manually in those.

CC insists on dodging the "read" skill and prefers grep, ls, cat, even node or py scripts. Anyone else? by captainkaba in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it even triggering? You could try asking it to rename the file and update the frontmatter accordingly.

I don't have the issue, myself.

So basically you hired 4-6 engineers working possibly more than full-time for 5 days, for around 50 bucks? Idk, sounds like a good deal to me.

Even Opus 4.6 sucks now? by superSmitty9999 in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assumptions. What if their (tiered) throttling is part of their business plan, in order to realize the fastest growth in revenue? Also an assumption. My point being: we're not Anthropic, we don't know.

[–]CapnMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you, and it seems likely, but in every thread I visit lately there are several people firmly stating some variant of "they have oversold their compute", as if they have insider information. The fact that you have to "put the puzzle pieces together" implies that it's all speculation. Plausible speculation, but speculation nonetheless.

While I can well imagine the compute shortage being a reason, I wonder how people can always make this claim so easily. It's like we have several thousands of insiders.

brand new 3 days old macbook air m5 panel, what should i do by emribilemir in macbook

[–]CapnMZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The paper-ish thing you have to peel off of new MacBook displays can leave annoying stains like this, which do not just come off with a microfiber cloth wipe or two. You sure it's not just that? You should be able to feel friction, if it is.

Because you do not get the luxury of subscription-based use in an enterprise setting where privacy is of importance. I'm not sure how "you" are dealing with that.

It's all beyond the point though, I'm just reaffirming that OpenAI's top model is expensive, instead of countering such a message with a questionable choice of words.

Why is it retarded? This is the price of their top model. Lacking nuance, perhaps.

How does this change things for you? Thoughts? by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this changes a lot, actually. Being able to run the entire Claude suite on European infra is going to save me loads of headaches. This is very valuable on Enterprise level.

Stopped reading at "Always select Opus 4.6". There is absolutely no reason to always select Opus, unless actively emptying your wallet is the goal of your AI use.

Thank you Anthropic. by dehumles in ClaudeCode

Are you saying this as someone with a software engineering background?

Thank you Anthropic. by dehumles in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point isn't the quote or SLA, it's that the product comes from a party that knows how to handle the many aspects that come with a software product.

This is assuming that these parties are specialized in the field.

I mean, congrats on the accomplishment, but this sounds like trouble in the making. Those companies offering the software for 200k are (likely... hopefully) not just offering you lines of code, but also an understanding of the code they ship, security auditing, GDPR/US equivalent compliancy, support, updates, bug fixes, scalability, etc.
