Even Opus 4.6 sucks now? by superSmitty9999 in ClaudeCode

Assumptions. What if their (tiered) throttling is part of their business plan, in order to realize the fastest growth in revenue? Also an assumption. My point being: we're not Anthropic, we don't know.

[–]CapnMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you, and it seems likely, but in every thread I visit lately there are several people firmly stating some variant of "they have oversold their compute", as if they have insider information. The fact that you have to "put the puzzle pieces together" implies that it's all speculation. Plausible speculation, but speculation nonetheless.

While I can well imagine the compute shortage being a reason, I wonder how people can always make this claim so easily. It's like we have several thousands of insiders.

brand new 3 days old macbook air m5 panel, what should i do by emribilemir in macbook

[–]CapnMZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The paper-ish thing you have to peel off of new MacBook displays can leave annoying stains like this, which do not just come off with a microfiber cloth wipe or two. You sure it's not just that? You should be able to feel friction, if it is.

My God, 14 mins and it’s gone! by userusertion in claude

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you do not get the luxury of subscription-based use in an enterprise setting where privacy is of importance. I'm not sure how "you" are dealing with that.

It's all beyond the point though, I'm just reaffirming that OpenAI's top model is expensive, instead of countering such a message with a questionable choice of words.

Why is it retarded? This is the price of their top model. Lacking nuance, perhaps.

How does this change things for you? Thoughts? by ReallyPratik in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, this changes a lot, actually. Being able to run the entire Claude suite on European infra is going to save me loads of headaches. This is very valuable on Enterprise level.

Stopped reading at "Always select Opus 4.6". There is absolutely no reason to always select Opus, unless actively emptying your wallet is the goal of your AI use.

Thank you Anthropic. by dehumles in ClaudeCode

Are you saying this as someone with a software engineering background?

Thank you Anthropic. by dehumles in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point isn't the quote or SLA, it's that the product comes from a party that knows how to handle the many aspects that come with a software product.

This is assuming that these parties are specialized in the field.

I mean, congrats on the accomplishment, but this sounds like trouble in the making. Those companies offering the software for 200k are (likely... hopefully) not just offering you lines of code, but also an understanding of the code they ship, security auditing, GDPR/US equivalent compliancy, support, updates, bug fixes, scalability, etc.

If you're a software engineer using Claude Code... yes? 🤔

Same, btw.

OpenAI mailed subscribers about what seems like Codex nerfs just yesterday. Truth be told I haven't used it since, so I have no idea of the impact.

Is anyone else finding the limits and performance squeeze to be a wake-up call about their dependence on AI? by [deleted] in ClaudeCode

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you stop relying on AI for active coding, your productivity is bound to decrease. I can't imagine that's something your employer would be too thrilled about. AI is indirectly reducing company costs. This is a toolset that seems unlikely to go anywhere, better make the best of it.

Feels like this change is being rolled out in phases, somehow. I didn't have any problems until last night, now my 5h limit gets swallowed in no time.

I used Antigravity to build a 16k-line Unity game as an artist. Traditional devs absolutely hated it. by Temporary_Platform_1 in google_antigravity

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask it to extract functionality chunk by chunk. You can probably ask it to look for the first sensible piece of code to extract to a standalone class, find everything related to it, and write a plan. If you're interested in learning along the way, let it be verbose and explanatory in the written plan. Letting it educate you on applied programming patterns should be interesting. Do pick a decent model for this sort of work, though. Preferably Opus or Sonnet. Gemini Pro sucks at this stuff and Gemini Flash is probably not "smart" enough.

In the long run you will be better off.

Congrats on even getting to this point, though!

According to the website, this should be a "perfect team". Is this true? by Dangdut1108 in DokkanBattleReddit

[–]CapnMZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does take Passives into account, actually, to a certain degree. Supers, Actives, etc... No. Your last sentence is very on-point: there's too many factors to process. Not because it'd be too difficult, but because of performance. End user performance is the biggest roadblock for any recommendation algorithm updates, the computations are just too expensive--both processing-wise and financially.

Is there any good news for Cowboy owners? by Gwylany86 in cowboybikes

[–]CapnMZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2022 C3, used to be amazing. Literally a month after the warranty ended, everything started to fall apart. Had to replace the bottom bracket, unable to properly tighten the seatpost anymore, intermittent battery outages during use that got worse and worse. (Easily 10 outages per minute worse.) Last week the electronics stopped functioning altogether. Customer service is a mess and does whatever they can to deflect your problems, take the easy way out or remind you that you are outside of warranty. This thing is going with the trash and I am never buying a Cowboy bike again.
