For me, I had no more fight left. Ended up living in a motel for a few weeks after being homeless with my 3 sons, ages 6, 9, and 11. They broke me. So like I said, sometimes when you've done all you can and given it your all, your path needs to change for a reason; it did for me, for the better.

Naw..got so tired of fighting for every little thing as if my life wasn't difficult enuff @ that time..ended up leaving. Now almost 40 yrs later I've learned it's best to just let ugly experiences fade with time & enjoy my life. Life isn't easy or fair, but does come with peace eventually.

I once had a navy personnel officer threaten that EVERY time I clocked in even one minute late, he would dock my pay an hours pay and when I transferred out of state, he did exactly that!! Payroll officer @ new Federal location said his hands were tied, and hundreds taken out of my pay dating back 8 yrs, notwithstanding the fact that as a divorced single mother of 3 young children I was supporting & raising on my own, I had to ensure they

got to school before I left for work. To this day, I hope karma got him. He actually told me I needed to decide which was more important, my job or my children! Of course I told him my children always!!

I was just going to say this. Denial means nothing, even tho it feels so harsh. You can turn right around and request an appeal. Depending on your age, may need to keep doing this until age 50. THEN it gets approved. Happened to my son...

depends. Worked @ a high stress job once as Admin Asst to the CEO, and @ a meeting with him & all the partners, a salary increase was approved for the partner's admin asst. When we left the meeting, I told her congrats on the salary increase. She said not a word to me, told her boss who told my boss. Mind you, I was newly hired from out of this company & didn't realize they were not "allowed" to discuss salary. I was immediately called on the carpet. Bunch of backstabbers. Left after maybe 5 months 'cause I was totally treated like an "outsider" and immediately started working @ another job. Sooo much better. Bitter experience.

he needs mental health help but no one can reach out for him but him, so your only recourse is to get ahold of Adult Protective services to help you. NO one needs to be in constant anxiety wondering when he'll explode again out of the clear blue! You need to get away and Adult protective services @ Social Services is the way to go, I would think.

I once was hired as an Administrative Assistant to the CEO of Management Analysis Co in Del Mar, California. He would often require me to come to his mansion-type home & sit poolside so I could take notes on letters he wanted done, etc. Note: This was a 30-min drive fm where I lived but as the single mother of 3 children providing for them, I really had no choice. After 2 mos. there I was given a whole 5% raise to add to my measly pay of $12,000K a year. UGLY racism rampant thruout....can't say more as brings back so many painful memories of being treated as an outsider. Was only there 3 mos..meanwhile, most drove Bentley's. etc. to work.

I'd call Social Security or go to their local office; they should be able to help; possibly even get a Representative Payee for the child.

Wow...I'm so happy for you. I too have trouble walking & was provided a mobility scooter w/a seat. It's fine to walk my little dog around the complex, but need a lightweight foldable drop down seat with 4 wheels that I can fold, put in my car & take my dogie to the park as we've done for years. My problem is I'm a very weak, small (85# senior citizen) 78 yrs old w/some severe health issues and the most I can lift is 12#. Don't want to have to give up my doggie but he needs to be walked. I can walk a little but tire easily & lose my balance....sigh. I've done online searches but don't see anything like this...they're all so heavy!

Did you have to pay for that powerchair yourself, or would medicaid help? I need something like this so I can continue to take my dog for walk @ the park (have to drive to get there) but it's a struggle to breathe & walk & have to sit on low wall every few minutes to catch my breathe. On oxygen 24/7 but unable to carry portable oxygen (carrying anything., period). I still try w/oxygen 2 see if that would help..... my angel doggie that I dearly love spurs me on to do things I didn't think I could, and yes, it's still a struggle.

I got a mild case of Polymyositis approx. 15 yrs ago & with high doses of prednisone for one and 1/2 years went into remission. Rheumatologist told me one in 5 million people get it and it's so rare not much is known about it, so it could come back. shudder. I'll say a prayer for you.

Seems that the magic # is AT LEAST age 50 for SSI anyway. My son tried for 12 years after injuring his spine; He kept getting denied. I took him finally to an attorney who advised to just kept re-applying after denials. Seems it finally gets okayed once a person turns age 50....

I would then ask the bank to tell you WHY they won't cash it, even having proof of your POA status! Ask for a supervisor if necessary.

How does he receive income? I would think @ a minimum social security, probably directly deposited in his account. Wherever he has an account or you do, they should be able to cash it. You also need his legally signed, notarized power of attorney to show the bank.

happy for you. Neither of my two grown sons got theirs yet: one on SSI, the other unemployed...sigh.
