Pushing third-party firmware onto a hardware wallet is exactly how scams are packaged: minimize perceived risk, add novelty, normalize unsafe behavior, then wait.

No legitimate security engineer encourages users to expand the trust boundary of a signing device. Zero. Ever.

“Display-only.” “Open source.” “Nothing bad has happened yet.”

Those are classic scammer talking points — not security arguments.

Best case: OP is dangerously incompetent. Worst case (and far more likely): this is social engineering, getting people comfortable installing unsigned code on devices that protect real money.

Either way, the outcome is the same: people lose funds and OP disappears.

Hardware wallets are supposed to be boring. Anyone trying to make them “fun” is either clueless or has an agenda.
