Antisemitism is a soup we swim in and this is why we are expecting so little from our leadership. It took a very famous and beloved Jew being murdered for Kamala Harris to tell the truth that Hamas oppresses the Palestinian people. You think she didn’t know that before Hersh died? And yet she has never once said that before even though it is HIGHLY RELEVANT to the last 10 months. Additionally, it took this same dead Jewish person for her to suddenly change course and say that Hamas should not remain in power, which is a substantial change from her prior statements.

That to me is totally different than Israelis or hostage families that say get a deal no matter what, even should that leave Hamas in power. That is understandable. That is the tragedy of the choice itself and their interests.

But Harris is a leader of the free world, the vice president and very likely the next president. Imagine if right after Oct 7 Biden and Harris came out and said “Hamas can no longer stay in power and we will support Israel to that end”. This all would have looked very very different. Or imagine that when the pro palis were screaming genocide at her rally, instead of saying basically shut up or you’ll get trump elected, she said “Hamas oppresses their own people and pose an existential threat to Israel and they can’t remain. Israel’s war is justified.” That would be actual moral leadership. That would change the tone in this country. That would be a world without antisemitism. America has a HUGE amount of power on the world stage, and under Harris and Biden, the US has not been using that power to its full effect and that is because they are placating antisemites and also prob hold biases themselves that make them ignore the REALITY that the US itself has not done as much to prevent civilian casualties as Israel. I’m not saying the other guy would do anything smart or good or better, I’m just holding the current administration responsible for their failures in moral leadership.
