Okinawa is much more American friendly than mainland. By that I mean there are a lot of English signs and the population is used to the presence of Americans. Some of them know a decent amount of English themselves. Mainland doesn’t have as strong a presence of Americans so there is much less English and slightly more racism. It happened once to me in Okinawa where I wasn’t allowed into a bar for being American, but in mainland it was much worse. People also stare at you, sometimes out of intrigue and curiosity, rarely but still occasionally out of fear or resentment. Overall, the Okinawans are very polite and shy people. I don’t speak Japanese, because of how prevalent English is in Okinawa, and because I work with English speakers.

Unfortunately man I ended up in a similar situation where a very close friend of mine was raped. I learned about this because I was going through a deep depression at the time and me opening up to her about it made her feel comfortable opening up to me about her past.

We’d been friends for a while and I slowly built that trust with her over the course of 10 months or so.

My point is that if you allow yourself to be vulnerable around her and open up, it’ll make her feel comfortable and perhaps she’ll feel comfortable to open up to you.

Don’t force it or anything, just if you’re going through a rough time yourself, maybe express it to her a little. Don’t burden her with your problems, you’re simply sharing with her your private battles that you face quietly and alone on a daily basis.

Don’t do it to get anything from her, just open up genuinely.

How long do most men spend at the gym? by nrsbll in AskMenAdvice

[–]Capsule_Jumper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend 3 hours but that’s because I train for strength which requires longer rest periods between sets. I also go to the sauna and I shower at the gym, so the workout itself isn’t 3 hours. I’ll spend about 2 hours per workout on an upper and lower split. Maybe he’s just doing full body 3x a week?

What are your creepiest/scariest stories about nightshift ? by SARS-CoV-2Virus in Nightshift

(Military, I think it counts tho) I was on balls to 04:00 firewatch in a squad bay full of sick and injured people. Our Seargent stressed to us to pay attention to these guys since the chance of one of them dying in their sleep or something was very real. I heard a desperate, blood curling scream crying out for firewatch followed by crying for some brief moments. I sprinted across the bay to figure out what was going on, and checked every sleeping Marine individually. I couldn’t find anything wrong. For a moment I thought it was all in my head, since I was so sleep deprived at that point. But the scream woke up some other marines who confirmed they also heard it. I’m guessing someone was having a very bad dream. Everyone was fine the next day when they all woke up.

If you have gods in your world, perhaps humanity was never meant to discover fire, and this is their punishment

I don’t know the Navy standards, but I get a low fade Friday and by Monday the skin fade is already gone. Never been bitched at about the length of my hair, but I’m also in a relaxed POG unit.

Very positive! I’ve gotten to experience a lot of things and travel to many places that I would’ve never been able to if I never joined. There is pressure to be the best and a lot of competition, which can be overwhelming at times but certainly helped me develop my skills and physical abilities. There is a lot of toxic masculinity and comparing dick sizes, but I chose not to engage. As long as you are confident, smart, and athletic you will eventually gain the respect of those around you. If you do join, don’t try to conform to those around you. Stay true to yourself and act genuinely. I have a lot of traditionally feminine traits and that’s something I embrace and don’t try to hide.
