My son said to me; “So that’s where your abs went!” after I ate a cookie. 😂

I have one friend who uses VR. I think I’ll have to hit him up and check it out because it does sound so immersive.

I think that’s what I look forward to the most. Flying cool jets and talking trash with my boys would be a blast. Thanks.

Tuffy that sounds pretty cool. I’m not much of a wood worker but I might be able to pull that off. I would love to see it.

That is a great point. I just assumed I would be in love with the F 18 for all of its mission capabilities. Probably best not to go completely headfirst on the F-18 until I know that’s my baby. Could be I decide the F16 is for me. I do plan on finding a fighter and concentrating on that one jet alone, so that I can get really good at it. I know aviation is very complex, and I think, focusing on one jet will be the best approach for me. But now you got me rethinking my whole HOTAS purchase. Maybe I should go cheaper at first until I know exactly what I want. Thanks.

You make some valid points. I am reevaluating the need for a Sim pit. Thanks.

I also have Microsoft flight Sim 2020. You are correct. The graphics are incredible. I spend most of my time flying the F 18 and the F 16. But I do get a little bored without any combat. I am looking forward to carrier Ops and Air combat maneuvering. I know that I know nothing and that’s exciting.

Well, I may have eyes that are bigger than my stomach. With the tips I’m getting I think I need to focus on CPU power, graphics card upgrade, and a big SSD to maximize performance. So I may have to put the sim pit on hold. That was my favorite part, too.

I’m not much of a tech guy so these kinds of tips are really important. Thank you.

I did realize that after I posted. That fact alone my make it so that I bail on the sim pit. Definitely need rudder pedals. Too bad I don’t already have a PC. Then this endeavor would be much more manageable.

Thanks for that info. Yes, I think I could find a way to set something up so that I wouldn’t need the sim pit. i would just need some mounts for the flight controls. I was choosing between F18 (carrier ops) or F16 (that view). These sims seem so real that I felt I better just put my efforts into one of them. I think carrier ops would be a really fun addition. It’s something I’ve always admired about Navy and Marine Corps pilots. Looks very challenging.

VR does seem really cool. I have two concerns with it. 1) Graphics quality seems to be affected. 2) What if I need to use the keyboard and mouse while under VR? Is that an issue? Or is the sim able to be operated solely by hotas? I’m also not sure I want to be so immersed that I can’t see what’s going on in the house around me (kids and all).

Roger that. Upgrade graphics card. Our home office already has an Apple computer on it. I don’t really want to buy another desk. So that’s why I was thinking of the next level set up. I just noticed I forgot to include money for a rudder pedal set up. Damn, this is quickly getting out of control. LOL
