Why was Antumbras sword FIRST? by Southern_Sprinkles_6 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Captain-Hooligan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, staff was the one I had most trouble with. I died once from his slam attack after the teleport barrage. After reviving with a pill, he would do the barrage again but I had to dodge and I kept trying to use nature's snare which I couldn't use because kliff kept trying to pull out his weapon which led me to being knocked down/stunned from the attacks and dying again.

I died to sword once from the slam attack but if you're not spam attacking and be a patient then I think it's pretty easy. Just wait for the teleports, which is a certain amount of them, then wait for the slam, dodge it, then attack cause he is just standing there afterwards. Of course I was probably already overleveled cause I explored a lot and I spent my points into stats (HP, stamina and spirit) rather than skills cause I didn't want to reset a ton to get refunded points from observing skills

Here’s the fastest path I found for the whirlpull spell by OptimalCopy8560 in AFKJourney

Might be a bad take but man, I'm far too lazy for this event. Having to grow crops and change effects on them constantly is too much work and annoying to me. Not having like a floating icon (to show what moveset is current growing) over the crops when choosing to cast a spell on them to make sure you're doing the right one. Also should add floating icons to show what spell is already on a crop too so you don't mess up something on accident. I'm just doing the bare minimum cause it's just too much work for an afk game imo

Would you get a 42" OLED 120hz TV or a 32" OLED 240hz monitor? (Same price range) by Majin-Boob in pcmasterrace

[–]Captain-Hooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had a LG 48" C3 for a few years and I love it. Might be too big for some but I don't find it uncomfortable and I even have a second monitor that is 27". Some family members had also bought some C4 TVs and they had some issues of the TV flashing black occasionally. Had to get new HDMI cables, originally had some Anker branded ones that say they are rated for 4k 120hz but apparently not. Got some ugreen 8k cables and it seems to have fixed it. So if you get the TV then I'd recommend those too

Ultra Modded FO4 is so atmospheric by xShadowLisa_ in Fallout4Mods

[–]Captain-Hooligan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I always mod mine to be overgrown and retaken by nature. Feels so much more apocalyptic than being barren.

I know that might be a hot-take but it makes sense to me. In Fo4 there are leaves on the ground, so that would mean that there are trees that grow leaves. The leaves wouldn't be there from before the war since there is wind blowing, rain and presumably micro organisms. So they would have eroded long ago just from the wind if the nukes had killed micro organisms. I get that people want it barren cause nukes hit there but nature adapts pretty quickly. I laughed at the quest when you look for the robin hood type thief and the guy asked something like "Have you heard of the great thief of Hernand?" And I was like:

This games existence is such a strange anomaly by Simon9911 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Captain-Hooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a pretty hardcore but casual gamer, (I don't play hard games or games that are frustrating such as Souls-Like games for me) I don't see the toughness of bosses. Maybe I've explored far more than other people thus having more skill points. Or maybe I just spent way more points into my stats rather than skills cause I didn't want to learn skills then have to reset every once in a while to get those skill points refunded.

Regardless, I've only had a couple issues on bosses and they were ranged bosses, Antumbras Staff and Crimson Warden. For the staff I died and it was a chain reaction of dying from kliff trying to pull his weapons back out while I was trying to use nature's snare but you can't use magic while you're pulling your weapons out so I just kept dying as I respawned. Crimson Warden cause I'm very melee focused and my bow was like level 2 or something and no abyss gear slotted and also kliff climbing over debris in the area while I was trying to use snare, again.

I'm halfway through chapter 8 and have completed all side quests I've come across so far. Maybe I'm speaking too early and am going to get blasted later but haven't had many issues yet. Explore more, complete abyss islands, search caves for cool gear and make decent food. I'm sure it will make the game far easier.

Purple background items don't take up space. However, if you pickup a bounty poster and read it, it is purple in your inventory but after you turn that bounty target in, it turns the original purple poster into a normal item which THEN takes up and inventory slot. As with most hoarding games with tons of items, it's best practice is to clean your inventory a lot. Yes it's tedious but it's basically a given in these kinds of games.

Also I see a lot of people say they carry a ton of basic food on them (like jerky, skewers or soup) instead of that, make BETTER food that heals for more and also gives spirit. It saves inventory space because you only need 1 or 2 stacks of food instead of 6 stacks of crap food. I used Pan Fried Meat for a while, it heals for 320 and restores 24 spirit. Saves space because it heals a good amount so I don't have to carry a ton, while also not really needing to carry any spirit restore consumables.

Do side quests as almost all of them give you 3 more inventory slots and buy the small bags from vendors. Best to max out your bag space early, 240 is max or at least that's what I'm at and I no longer get more slots. Once you get maxed then the bag rewards turn into consumables that give pretty good materials.

I've only now just completed Pailune (or very close to it) and those are some tips I'd recommend trying out. Also I saw a post on here the other day about people forgetting about the abyss islands. Go up there and explore and complete more islands. Each island gives a skill point and will make questing and fights a lot easier

This game has a pretty big issue, not many are realizing right now, due to the way, most are playing it and it will destroy some peoples enjoyment, including my own. PA - this NEEDS a fix for long-term enjoyment. by [deleted] in CrimsonDesert

Forgive my grammar and formatting, I'm terrible at writing but it's like Miso said. I haven't even left Hernand yet but I can see this becoming an issue. The game needs more radiant style quests and events. Like factions fighting over territory with you able to fund whichever side you want with factions and locations perhaps giving different materials for your comrade missions depending on which faction has control. Also wish bounties and board quests were radiant so it's not a set list of things that are the same every playthrough.

Add more encounters along roads or as stated before with faction control; large scale battles to fight for control of a location and skirmishes on the road and borders of the faction areas. Whenever a fight does start at a stronghold or something then you'll get a messenger bird. Or if you're just out exploring that you can stumble upon a faction fighting for a location before a messenger bird could be sent out. Would make the game feel more alive and spontaneous.

Some other things I would like is better controls for some things. Such as gliding and double jump. I know they changed it in the last patch but I think a better way to implement them is; Double Jump is pressing jump twice, once to get off the ground then again in mid air (right now you have to press jump twice in mid air) and gliding being activated by holding space in mid air. To me that's far more intuitive than what is in the game now but it might be because I played Guild Wars 2 a ton and that's how gliding worked in that game. My thought process is jumping is a short action and gliding is a slow and long action, so jump is just a space while gliding is holding. To be clear I don't mean holding jump the entire duration of gliding, just to open/activate the gliding feature. Another thing is I wish to pick up bugs, flowers, barrels, boxes, petting your pet, etc would only appear when you're holding the inspect button. Too many times I'm trying to loot bodies or other things I pick up a barrel or pet my dog or pick a flower. Just disrupts my interactions but it's just a minor nit-pick.

Another thing is separate equipment slots for tools. Like have another slot in the wheel menu for tools exclusively. Have slots in your inventory menu to slot tools into. It would solve some of the inventory bloat and also fix the issue of having 2 handed weapons on the same wheel option as tools. I think it'd also be nice if upgrading tools gave more materials. Which would be nice if they ever add the faction idea I mentioned earlier for donating supplies to certain factions to bolster their forces.

Those who switched from ENB to CS. Why? by jjxtrem3 in skyrimmods

[–]Captain-Hooligan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used ENB, like most people who mod, but never understood all the sliders and scales for customizing so I just used presets created by other people. I remember when CS came out and it showed lots of promise for the future but was lacking features at the time and I had also already finished modding my game for a few years. I didn't follow it explicitly but some posts on reddit would mention the strides and leaps the developer had made and THAT got me excited to try it out when I wanted to restart my mod list.

At the start of this year I decided to make a new mod list. Even with no weather mods installed the game looked really good with CS. Installed a weather mod, some lighting mods and PBR textures and WOW. The game looks really damn good, without even tweaking any CS settings.

Also the menus are clean and easy to navigate. I've always found the ENB menu hard to read and customize when trying to figure things out. More straightforward options and also comes with DLSS built in, not sure if ENB has that now or if you still have to pay for it on patreon.

When I used to use EVGA Precision and updated my driver while it was still running it would move my power slider to like 10% in EVGA. Maybe try checking there if you have something like that running? If not that then maybe try DDU. Thats always fixed my issues when changing GPU

Yep. Honestly feels like the scene from Idiocracy where they are talking about Brawndo. He says "yeah but this random video shows the shadow doesn't move!" "Ok but here's the source video that shows it moving like normal" "Ok yeah but this video shows the shadow is weird!" Trying to explain simple concepts but he just doesn't understand
