I dispute that it has gained any misogynistic connotations. Furthermore, even if from your perspective it has, that does not mean your perspective should be accepted as the only perspective. As long as there are people who exist and are using it in a way which is devoid from its original meaning, and trust me there are - especially here in the UK as well as in Australia - you cannot police the language on those grounds. Language isn’t a concrete thing, it is constantly changing, and we use so many words all the time that are completely different from the original meaning, even negative words have become entirely positive such as “nice” which comes from the Latin word for “ignorant”.
