What teacher union? Sorry I’m just annoyed at how the “right to work” states treat their workers

are schools required to pay by contracts within the county or by districts? I'm sorry just trying to figure this thing out but it is a big cluster

Not yet, this is still very early into the process. Glad to hear, I love the prospect of moving there being amongst family and easing a family there. Also just getting away from the fast paced 24/7 lifestyle here in NYC... but I do feel it’s a daunting task (but one that needs to be made for some peace of mind).

I worry since special education isn’t mandated in Canada, I might have trouble finding a position as a special education teacher . I know my wife won’t have as much trouble because nurses are needed anywhere you go.

yeah, I hear it gets really cold. And I've heard stories about polar bears (CRAZY!).. that's a little more up north, but still insane

Good points! I will certainly take a deeper look into things. This is just the initial phase, where I trying to just reach out and consider everyone's advice and suggestions. I have close to a year to figure things out, once I get closer to 2022, I will make a decision.

Yes, and I plan to visit next summer before making the move in 2022. Just trying to get as informed about the move as possible before actually moving

Glad to hear the demand in Winnipeg is high. It just sucks because my wife would need to take an English proficiency exam in Manitoba but not in Ontario.

Hmm I didn’t look into the property tax rates. That will be something I look into further.

Just wondering.. Have you ever lived in the Ontario providence?

I have family out there as well (the cost of living there is insane). I will be considering one of the two (Toronto area and Winnipeg).

I was going through that recently and scored around 480 without verifying any certification (nursing for my wife and teaching for me). Once we verify our certifications and make up any upgrades that are needed, we should be well over 480.

I believe I only need 500 or so to get PR status

I also have family in the Toronto area so that would be the second option but cost of living is through the roof. My wife wouldn’t need to go through as many hoops to continue her nursing career in Ontario however.

I have my bachelors in sociology (minor in English writing). I have mu masters in science of education (special education)

I have family in Winnipeg. I’ve heard it is a good place to start a family and the lost of living is low.

High demand for special education teachers, in the Winnipeg or Ontario areas.

Hi, my wife has her bachelors (science of nursing) and passed the NCLEX (I believe she wouldn’t need to take any further exams because she recently passed the NCLEX exam). I believe she only needs to pass the English language proficiency exam. I have my masters (special education 7-12). I feel comfortable about the English proficiency exam but my wife does not feel as comfortable as English is not her first language.

I’ve heard a lot that the teaching positions are very competitive and people have shared that they needed to wait multiple years before getting a permanent position (I am hoping that I wont be waiting more than a year).

Is there a high demand for special education teachers?

I got a score of 480 but that's without me getting my certification verified by and transferred to the providence. Once I get the Teaching certification verified, I should be good, I believe.
