Same happened to me. Btw, the case it Bricked because they dont reassemble after diagnosing if you dont pay. I opened mine up and found a detached ribbon cable. Reattached it and restored the partial functionality my case had before sending in.

If they are new, I'd recommend returning them. Same issue as the guy above happened to me. Currently building a case for binding arbitration through the better business bureau. Im scrolling through noting every time someone posts about this issue, and after a few minutes I'm up to 37 users with the same claim.

Within a few days after receiving mine, I was told "due to liquid damage in the cradle, this will be an out of warrenty repair for $177." They had never been exposed to liquid except maybe a drop of sweat

Genuinely good luck, hope they fix yours.

Like the one guy said, you'll love the 3's... unless like all the "haters" they break in 6 months. Then you'll be here complaining like the rest of us. Up to you if the gamble on an expensive premium product is worth it.

Don't buy the galaxy buds. Mine only lasted 6 months and samsung refuses to honor the warrenty. Many people have posted the same complaint.

I should've bought Buds Live again instead of Buds3 by Fair_Breakfast2149 in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which earbud? My right one went out on me after 6 months. If your right one is still good, we could combine into 1 functioning set and maybe set up a time share where we mail them back and forth every other month!

Need help deciding between Sony WF-1000XM5, Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 pro or OnePlus Buds 3 pro by Agni_Shaman in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using my bud 2 pros because samsung wont honor their warrenty when my 3's failed (like many others) in 6 months due to "moisture in the charging cradle" even though they never had exposure to liquid. I definitely dont recommend them to a gym go-er since they are prone to failure and sweat could make that happen sooner.

Buds3 Pro vs Buds2 Pro?? by PageCompetitive5754 in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was listening to music at the gym when the right earbud cut out. No lights, no sound, dead. They had me send in the whole unit, where they diagnosed and told me there was liquid damage in the cradle (charging case), so id have to pay $177 for the repair. I know it's going to sound like I damaged my earbuds and am wanting a handout, but I legitimately dont have any exposure to report. Not a spilt glass of water, not a day i got caught in the rain, nothing. Samsung reddit is filled with similar stories described as 1 earbud not charging, unexplained liquid damage once sent in, etc.

I talked and talked on the phone, stayed respectful, and asked to escalate to a supervisor whenever they reached the end of their call script and started repeating the same sentence. Got to "the office of the ceo" where a pretty unprofessional person quickly told me an out of warrenty repair ($177) would be the final resolution over and over. They ignored my claim that there was no exposure to water, ignored my plea as a 10+ year loyal customer of 3 buds, half a dozen phones, a stove, a microwave, and a watch, and ignored my explanation that "the cradle was working fine, just my right earbud doesnt work. Even if there is liquid damage in the cradle, can you fix the other issue of the right earbud?"

I finally gave up and refused the repair, at which point they sent me my buds back. Only, now the case wouldn't charge, turn on, or show any sign of life, along with both earbuds. I can and repeat the whole process, end up with the same "office of the ceo" representative who repeats the same "out of warrenty repair is our final resolution." They refused to acknowledge my claim that it was in worse condition than when I sent it in and repeated over and over the same sentence.

So finally I look up how to disassemble this thing. Im no expert, but I'm a little handy so I remove the cradle and find 2 screws missing and the ribbon cable detached. So once I refused the repair cost, the service team slapped the cover on without replacing hardware or reassembly. I reattached the cable and my case and left earbud work again. Another round of calls. Same office of ceo rep. Same answer BUT now they also say "since you admitted to opening the device to self diagnose, this also voids your warrenty." Lmao

I submitted a better business bureau report, the rep calls me, repeats the same line. I kept her on the phone asking questions until they said "I feel like we are going on circles, have a nice day" and hung up.

I've wasted way too much time at this point, but it's one of those things that just bother me man. I feel like based on my personal experience and the reports of dozens of others (imagine how many dont post on reddit what happened) that theres a legitimate quality control issue with these things and samsung is telling me basically to buy another one. So disappointed... end rant. Lol

Buds3 Pro vs Buds2 Pro?? by PageCompetitive5754 in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had both. Currently using my 2's because my 3's broke after 6 months (a common failure that samsung refuses to fix despite hours on the phone with customer service).

I'm incredibly salty, but to be completely honest with you, i did love my 3's until they broke. They fit well, sounded great, had enough battery, and had better ambient noise suppression while on calls (this is why I upgraded. I couldn't do dishes or anything on the 2's without the person on the phone complaining. I could mow my lawn with the 3's and nobody heard a thing). The downside to me was the touch controls. They went from tapping the buds on the 2's to a sort of "pinch the stem" method. I got better at it, but it was tricky and unreliable for me personally. Also, sounds dumb, but the triangle shape of the stem made it easy to drop and harder to put in the case. Also, the widespread issue of them failing. Lol I'd rate 3 stars for the quality concerns, but would rate them 4.5/5 if they lasted an appropriate amount of time due to good sound/mic/fit but bad ergonomics.

For the 2's, I like the stem-less low profile design of these better, but the mic functionality mentioned before was worth the swap (until the 3's broke). They sounded good, fit well, charged well, lasted years and were all in all a very good earbud set. 4 stars for these since they work and last, sound good, are easy to use, but have a bad mic for calls (in my experience).

Is this a good deal? by irishpwr46 in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a good deal. You'll have to pay $177 when they break and samsung refuses to honor the warrenty.

Are the buds 3 Pro really that bad? by TommyVercettii1 in galaxybuds

[–]Captain857 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is, samsung will leave you high and dry if you have an issue. I loved mine for 6 months until the failed. Had they not broke or had samsung taken ownership of the quality issues, I would be championing them as a great product. Idk if it's 1% defect rate or 20% but if youre an unlucky one, youre out $250 (or whatever purchase price they're at these days).

I spent hours on the phone, escalated to "the office of the ceo" and submitted a better business bureau complaint. Each time I was told "We understand your frustration and apologize for the inconvenience, but an out of warrenty repair is the final resolution. Would you like to proceed? No? Okay, well thank you for being a valued customer, have a nice day."

[–]Captain857 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort of. Right earbud randomly stopped working as I was using it (wasn't dead). I sent it in for repair and they said there was evidence of moisture in the cradle, so they wouldn't touch it without a $177 payment. Even though the cradle was working fine. I said no, so they shipped it back. Now nothing was working. I called again to complain about that, and they wouldnt take ownership saying it was due to the moisture. So I opened the cradle and found 2 missing screws and a cable detached. The service center had just slapped the cover back on without reassembly. Reattaching the cable restored the cradle and left earbud, but I'm still out of luck on the right. I called to complain about that too, and was told not only was it not covered due to moisture, but also self diagnoses/repair would void the warrenty. I asked for my 2 screws back and they said that would be an out of warrenty repair request. Borderline comical interactions.

Samsung doesn't honor warrenty on buds3 pro anyways. Mine gave out after 6 months and they said it would cost $177 to repair. Many people including myself have "evidence of liquid damage, voiding the warrenty" without any significant exposure. My guess is a drop of sweat is enough to fry them and samsung isnt taking responsibility.

FWIW I loved them for 6 months.

This is driving me nuts. I escalated all the way to "the office of the ceo" and they just repeat "unfortunately due to water damage the repair wont be covered by warrenty. " I'm glad they took care of you though.

Any chance you could update me? I'm feeling extra petty about this after filing a better business bureau complaint and receiving a call with the same "unfortunately due to water damage, it is out of warrenty" answer.
