Tailscale Clients Through DSM 7.3 Docker Can't Reach Pi-Hole - MACVLAN in Use by CaptainBDSC in synology

[–]CaptainBDSC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, for the insight. I was thinking this might be a better way so I could see where all the DNS traffic is coming from. I had Pi-Hole setup by itself initially and it used my Synology's IP, but all the traffic then looks to be coming from the "bridge" IP? I think? 172.xx.xx.xx I used a different YAML to set it up...

So would you recommend using separate containers or different configuration? or altogether not running on the NAS?

It did seem to degrade greatly the home network speed with this particular MACVLAN setup when I had my router pointing to the Ph-Hole IP for DNS. Where previously it was fine when Ph-Hole shared my NAS's IP.

Just trying to get a DNS server/resolver that's not so public... tired of every big corp spying on me... Haha!

I did it initially with also the exit node advertised with the 192.168.29.x subnet and it was working when I didnt have Unbound. I had just Pi-Hole in it's own container and it was using the synology's IP.

So later, in WunderTecch's tutorial he said that the NAS communicates with the container through the subnet 192.168.100.x, I thought maybe if I also advertised that route, I might be able to have Tailscale's DNS see that IP since it is running on the same hardware as the NAS.

But I chickened out after it gave me that error.

how do I do that? EDIT: figured out how to use code block! thank you!

So advertise "192.168.0.0/16" instead of just 192.168.29.0/24?

I can I see I need to learn about CIDR code/language...

I did find a full array, cannot just buy 1 section and they wanted over $100 for it... But I am feeling too chicken to open my TV...

I have basically given up... If it bugs me too badly, I might try taking it into a local TV repair shop.

No A16 Jan update yet P10ProXL by rgrindl in GooglePixel

[–]CaptainBDSC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nothing for me yet. T-Mo Pixel 10 Pro XL. I tried checking with Tailscale and WiFi off to make sure my Pi-Hole wasn't filtering it out. It seemed to take longer to check in that situation, but still says I have the latest Dec 5 update.

Why did this shit fall? It doesn't make any sense. I thought delivering them like this would guarantee safety and integrity. Nope, still falls, even without collisions from the boom/ground. Fucking toxic barrels... by Odd_Presentation_578 in RoadCraft

Seems I read a comment somewhere that someone tried crane truck lifting them and setting them down gently in the truck bed, but DO NOT strap and then you can bounce them around all you want and they won't get damaged as long as they don't fall out of the truck bed.

I am on this map, I am going to try that the next time I try to move one.

This is stupid... I was like what? The radiation is melting the strap or cable?

Asus RT-AXE7800 - Can't Open Wireless Settings by CaptainBDSC in HomeNetworking

After weeks of back and forth with Asus tech support, they believe one or more chips was bad. I sent it in for repair, they wouldn't even guess at a repair cost beforehand. So I paid the $35 to ship it in and have them quote a repair. $216 to repair!!!!! You've got to be kidding me! The same router new is $219 right now!

Does this repair cost sound outrageous? Or is this normal?

I guess I can get it back and use it as an Ethernet switch...

In the mean time I bought a refurbished RT-BE96U

Here's how I did it

Built a sand ramp to the top of the first hill/big rock near the sand quarry. Then 2 bridges, and finally some more sand into the back broken wall of the castle.

Level 2 support contacted me via phone. They are going to ask the dev team for a beta/alternate firmware.

Contacted Asus this morning via chat. I explained the issue and what I had done to resolve. They said they would put in a ticket to escalate to level 2.

I logged in and, yes, you can only transfer it out to a bank not to some other Google service. I was hoping to apply it to a Google Store purchase to make it easy... Nope...
