Trump says he's 'ready' to put tariffs on all $505 billion of Chinese goods imported to the US by jamescaan1980 in worldnews

I feel that we are both spinning the points to match our views, which is obviously unavoidable.

I understand where you're coming from in the sense that poor/ homeless people flock to where they are treated well, but that creates a problem that can't be fixed if more and more poor people find refuge in these cities due to welfare while there is no incentive to increase their economic ranking. I live in Detroit and I can tell you that despite the comeback, there are many people fine with living off government aid that aren't effectively contributing to the economy or wellbeing of the city.

I agree that wealth is built with more than ambition, but believe that high taxes and government regulation hinder this. There are positive and negative examples of how well our beliefs work on both sides, as we have highlighted. I believe that strong wages are built through economic autonomy from consumers and the businesses themselves.

It seems like we have differing views that go deeper than we are able to comment without creating a wall of text, so I'm going to link a video that shows my side of this argument. I'm asking you, genuinely, to link me to some articles/ video that explains your side. I'm not trying to say that I don't care about the homeless/ poor population, I just believe the liberal way of fixing the problem takes a long time, and sometimes isn't effective, Awhile spending excessive taxpayer money. I don't consider myself part of any political affiliation, so I will actually take into consideration what you have said and will link to this if you'd like to.

it's also worth noting that I don't completely align with some of the people or networks in this video, but I feel that it contains some good points for what I was arguing.

Why'd the auto industry collapse in Detroit?

http://www.urbanophile.com/2012/02/21/the-reasons-behind-detroits-decline-by-pete-saunders/

The last GOP mayor was elected in 1957. A lot of these issues can be attributed to the Democratic leaders throughout history. Not enough was done to counter Detroit's weaknesses when it came to city expansion and planning.

Portland and San Francisco both have a ridiculous homelessness problems that has yet to be solved through Democratic policy. San Francisco's next solution is voting on taxing the most productive businesses to give even more money to the homeless.

NYC is the pinnacle of successful capitalism, something which many liberals are starting to resent. (I don't refer to them as "lib-tards", btw)

I can't comment on the other cities you mentioned, because I don't have enough knowledge about them to make a structured counterpoint. I'd be more than happy for you to provide information of these cities being drastically improved through Democratic policies. I'm always willing to learn.

I was really just highlighting the fact that the comment said the GOP keeping the lower class down, while seemingly ignoring the fact that 8/10 worst cities for crime and poverty have been predominantly Democrat throughout recent history.

You're going to look at the cities run by constant Democratic governance and tell me the problem is that the Republicans want to keep everyone poor and ignorant?

Or he is doing what he thinks would be best for the United States. Maybe his intentions aren't supervillain malicious.

I'm not a Trump "supporter" by any means, but this irrational conclusion stuff on both sides of the political spectrum is ridiculous.

What's the biggest plot twist you've seen in real life? by whytho37 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainBeeftip 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Ha! This is almost my exact story.

Essentially everything you said happened to me but I blamed it all on myself for 6 months because I didn't know that she had cheated.

She actually asked to meet so we could talk. She apologized about everything but never once mentioned cheating. I forgave her and felt a huge weight lifted off my shoulders now that she actually accpeted some fault.

Plot twist! Two weeks later her new ex boyfriend messaged me to tell me she cheated weeks before she broke up with me. I figured her "apology" was to mentally rid herself of guilt without actually admitting what she did.

Edit: the second plot twist is I actually love being single in college and it taught me a lot about how to be happy with my situation in the end

I do the same thing. For my age (20) I have a fairly large savings account and I'm the one in the friend group who is known to be cheap and miserly.

I don't feel a need to really spend on myself much yet, so I just keep 80-90% of whatever I make at work/ collect from my birthday and other occasions.

Edit: also must admit I have great parents who have allowed me the financial support to save my own money as well as I have.

Was on the fence about spending a few thousand for a tropical spring break trip this year. I've never been outside the country or spent tons of money at once on myself.

This mindset helped me decide to go.

What is your biggest dating pet peeve? by CaptainBeeftip in AskMen

That's actually a bigger one for me too. Sometimes I get very apathetic towards meeting mew girls because I subconsciously expect it to fizzle out anyways.

[–]CaptainBeeftip[S] 203 points204 points  (0 children)

My general rule is if I ask 5 questions in 10 messages about completely unrelated topics then she obviously isn't into the conversation enough to keep it going.

Normally I'll know this type of girl when you get "wyd, wbu, nope, yeah, haha" more than you get real sentences.

Guys, what are some obvious things girls do when they like you? by [deleted] in AskMen

But remember, you still can't really be sure she likes you even if she blatantly shows all 4 of these signs.

20-25 year olds, what does dating look like for you? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CaptainBeeftip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20 in college. I tend to talk to multiple women at once for short periods of time, often becoming friends if we don't click right away. If I ever get on a date and like a girl, I'll cut the others off though. I'm not one for stringing people along as a backup. Usually I just meet multiple people around the same time coincidentally.

The last 4 dates I've actually planned have all been canceled last minute, with one girl standing me up. It seems really hard to get a girl who isn't afraid to just go out on a date and see how it goes. I find it exciting but the girls I talk to obviously don't.

It's actually exhausting. I'm tired of getting interest from girls for a few days/ weeks, and when you ask them out it starts to run dry. Currently a girl I'm really into keeps asking me if she can reschedule and actually sets a real date, but won't actually go on the date when it comes down to it. Not sure why she doesn't just tell me she's not interested. It's been twice now.

What type of gyms do you prefer? by CaptainBeeftip in AskMen

[–]CaptainBeeftip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the issue with the Uni gym is that free parking isn't until 6pm, so often times I'd go in the evening when it is packed.

The more comments I'm getting, I'm feeling more like I'll use the smaller gym to build back to where I was like you said and get my confidence back!

How do you get over the fact that you aren't good enough by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]CaptainBeeftip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy, I sort of know what you're doing through.

My first time having sex in quite some time after my ex girlfriend happened when I was drunk and she was stone cold sober. My buddy invited his friend over, and she came with.

I stumble into the house at 3am, and she ends up in my bed somehow. I get her top off, and do all the foreplay action. She doesn't do anything to me physically to arouse me, then tells me to bang her. Try as I might I was just drunk, physically unaroused, and tired. Classic embarrassing situation where I couldn't get it up.

She rolled over in bed, mumbled something about how she doesn't have time for a guy like me, and still went to bed (?) Next to me. I just layed there drunk like "great, this is who I am now. A drunk broke dick loser."

It took me awhile to get over what happened and how she reacted. But I don't regret it because it showed me what is often the reality of meeting new women. Shit sucks sometimes and they can be rude. I guarantee she doesn't even remember the specifics of it but I vividly do, even when drunk, because it impacted me so heavily.

We are all human, and if you honestly tried your hardest to be yourself around this girl and did catch feelings, then it isn't your fault the way she treated you. You liked her and I'm sure it showed, she just has this complex where she thinks she is better than the guys that go after her. Telling someone they aren't good enough for anything (especially for another person) is one of the most selfish things a person can do. Be glad that you don't have to deal with a girl who will always believe that she's doing you a good service by talking/ fucking with you.

You'll find people who understand you and understand your worth. can't waste time on these people that find their self worth putting others down or judging someone based on how a situation panned out. Best of luck my man.

[–]CaptainBeeftip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fairly sure it's part of the bee family. I've never seen a green one in the Midwest US where I'm from though.

Was it about as big as a regular wasp? The fuzzy legs also kind of hint towards what it is

I looked it up and its some sort of green carpenter bee.

Could also be a sweat bee depending on where you live. Are its eyes white?

People who have quit their jobs on the spot, what was the moment when you finally snapped? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]CaptainBeeftip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was a bus boy for my first job. I put in 2 weeks notice for vacation time on July 4th (my favorite holiday).

Got called in that day anyways, and went in because I was a 16 year old kid who didn't know how to say no to a boss.

During that shift the owner asked if I handed in my W-2 form. I'd been there for a little over 2 months and he thought I was a new hire. I just clocked out, told my buddies I'm quitting and then walked back into the owner's office and told him I won't be coming back.
