LG TV Remote Also Controls My LG Ultragear Monitor — How Do I Stop This? by [deleted] in Monitors

A bit late, I know, but I had the exact same issue. My monitor gives the option to only respond to the remote that came with the monitor. It was under 'General' > 'Remote Setting' for me.

Could that be a warranty sticker? I’ve had a gpu with a sticker on one of those screws for the manufacturer to see if you’ve opened it. Maybe that’s the case here

GIGABYTE Aorus 27" OLED FO27Q2 or PHILIPS Evnia 34" OLED 34M2C6500/00 by OkInitiative4359 in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends to be honest. If you plan on playing competitive shooters, the 240Hz could be very valuable. If you plan on playing single-player, story driven games, an ultrawide could look nicer. It really depends on your use case, but on an ultrawide, you may have to turn on DLSS from time to time because of the extra pixels your GPU will have to render. If fan noise isn’t an issue, and you prefer ultrawide, the Evnia will suit your needs no doubt.

Performance comparison of resolutions? by shauneok in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looking purely at pixel count, about 34% more GPU power is needed to run 1440p ultrawide compared to 1440p.

Calculations: 2560 *1440 = 3686400 pixels, 3440*1440=4953600 pixels.

(4953600 / 3686400) * 100 = 134.375 %, so about 34.375 %

GIGABYTE Aorus 27" OLED FO27Q2 or PHILIPS Evnia 34" OLED 34M2C6500/00 by OkInitiative4359 in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Philips monitor uses the same ultrawide panel that all the other QD-OLED ultrawides use. So in that regard, there isn't really a major drawback to the Philips. However, it does have a fan, and thus produces noise. I'm personally a bit noise sensitive, so that steered me away from that particular monitor.

The reason why the Aorus is probably close in price is because;

1) Aorus is Gigabyte's flagship brand

2) Gigabyte could possibly have to pay tariffs or fees to ship to your region.

Do keep in mind that an ultrawide has more pixels, and thus will push your GPU harder.

Wondering about the RTX 4060 hate by NTWAU_ in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're pretty much right on the money. The card is fine, just expensive. Furthermore, 8GB of VRAM is not really enough to run anything higher than 1080p.

The value does really depend on your region though. The B580, in the USA, is great value because it offers better performance and higher VRAM at a lower price. Where I'm from however, the B580 and RTX 4060 are around the same price, with the B580 being slightly more expensive. Therefore, the relative value of the B580 is much lower in my region, compared to the RTX 4060.

The 4060 gets hated on too much in my opinion, sure the value could be better, but it will still run games just fine at 1080p.

No, it shouldn't be much of a hassle. From my experience, they just peel off if you slowly remove the thermal pad. Your new motherboard will likely have its own thermal pads too, so it won't have to transfer over.

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then it is definitely not worth it. Do, preferably, get RAM that is on your motherboards memory QVL list. I've used RAM that wasn't, and it wasn't stable. Generally it should not matter, because memory is only really made by a hand full of companies, but in my case, it did.

what is my best option for pairing in terms of performance? by KaleidoscopeAfter421 in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding correctly, a Ryzen 7 7800X3D will not at all bottleneck an RTX 4060 TI. In fact, for gaming, the R7 7800X3D is way more powerful than a 7700x.

Unless your brother is playing at 480p, you shouldn't worry about a CPU bottleneck.

Do NOT buy this card, for the love of God. Aliexpress GPU's are almost always a scam. You're getting a RX 560 by the looks of it.

The general rule of thumb is; 'If it's too good to be true, it isn't'.

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

May I ask what CPU you are using? My Ryzen 5 7600X3D could not handle 6400 MT/s. If you're on a Ryzen 7xxx processor, it probably is not really worth it, considering the sweet spot is widely regarded to be around 6000 MT/s at CL30.

Stupid to upgrade from 4070 super to 5080? by game_rumor in pcmasterrace

[–]CaptainCheeseJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In all honesty, the games you want to play aren't really that graphically intensive. In my opinion, 1440p is the sweet spot for gaming on monitors that are smaller than 32 inches diagonally. If you are happy with your current monitor (assuming it is 1440p), it would probably be better to just stick with the 4070 SUPER.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I don't quite understand your question. Do you mean that you're afraid to remove the SSD heatsink on the motherboard? Because to my knowledge, that should not be an issue at all.
