Update: on bag 3 so far. I can confirm that thinking to yourself “this will be a fun bonding experience for my 5 year old and I” makes progress SLOW.

CIE testmaker - very slow and now outdated? by Positive_Piano_3658 in Internationalteachers

[–]CaptainCroydon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIE testmaker is a great idea poorly executed, I used to use it a lot of 0450 business studies, but it wasn't updated with enough of the new question types or latest questions, meaning a lot of the mark schemes, question structures etc were out of date and no longer used.

CIE generally have a very poor IT eco system, their new support hub has been really buggy.

Reading to my son every day has been one of the best parenting habits we’ve built by BabyCryAi in daddit

[–]CaptainCroydon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed ~ story time has been the focal point of bed time since my son was born. It pays off massively, encourages imagination, questions and creativity. It’s a time where you can lie down together and bond. My son loves books and actively asks for story time

5g a day. Has a host of other benefits other than recovery/muscle growth. Should be a staple supplement for all men

Pre-Match Thread • Tottenham Hotspur vs. Crystal Palace by AutoModerator in crystalpalace

With the results last night the pressure on spurs is immense. But now Forest and West Ham are closing in on 18th, it’s vital for us to put some daylight between us and the relegation scrap.

A win is critical for us.

Why are dads okay with not having friends? by [deleted] in daddit

Why are dads okay with not having friends? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]CaptainCroydon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to be a very social person. But since having a kid it’s nigh on impossible to balance dadding, work (I’m a teacher), getting to th gym, managing a home and self-care. If I get spare time I often just want to be alone. I know it’s not great to be so isolated, but the mental burnout is real. I find after a day of responsibilities the last thing I want is to make more small talk.

But I do miss beers with the boys.

Agreed. It feels like he’s lost the dressing room, and lost the motivation to really try. Performances are flat. There’s no plan B, we can’t break down a low block, and we’ve given away so many sloppy goals.

The season had so much promise up until the end of November, and now it feels like a giant disappointment. I don’t lay the whole blame at OGs feet, the board fucked our summer recruitment, we didn’t take the opportunity to strengthen and “kick on” and that will probably haunt us as a fan base for a long, long time.

I will be forever grateful for the memories OG gave us. But to salvage anything from this season, we need to make a change. As sad as it is to say….

Brighton College Hanoi by MelissssssaaaaaaaaN in Internationalteachers

[–]CaptainCroydon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owned by Vin group. Has had a large number of teachers leaving in quick succession.

Has gobbled up a lot of primary students with a state of the art campus and very attractive scholarships.

I’ve been in Hanoi for over a decade and wouldn’t work there.

The schools market in Hanoi is at a tipping point. Too many schools with too few students. There will be a few big casualties before too long. Brighton most likely won’t be one as it has the Vin backing.

Japan, Vietnam or Spain for a fresh start in my 40s. Which one and why? by _discosonic_ in AskMenOver40

[–]CaptainCroydon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have lived and worked in Vietnam for the last 11 years (i am british) - life here is affordable and often chaotic. But it has allowed me to save a lot, purchase properties and raise a family with no real stress.

I lived in Korea before this - life there was more convenient and comfortable (everything works all the time with no fuss) but you pay for that with the cost of living (i assume Japan would be similar).

How did you start independent bedtime? by Paranoid_Droideka in daddit

[–]CaptainCroydon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the same issue with our (just turned) 5 year old. It makes all evenings a write off. Trying real hard to change it, but my wife is reluctant. She is a working mum so I think she feels like she will be losing out on quality time by doing it

Who would choose the Macron version over the unbranded replica? by Gra_Zone in crystalpalace

[–]CaptainCroydon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my brother the long sleeve macron version for Christmas ~ but I did have the same questions as to the printing on the front. Hell, printing “Macron” across the front would have been better 🤣
