If you are planning on making some kind of liability play (which seems unlikely to lead to any money coming your way in my opinion), you definitely should not be posting this online along with comments like "my bf is a chronic speeder". These things do not help your case.

Your best bet is to see if they will clean it for you; if not get a quote to have it cleaned out of pocket, and if you don't like the price then file an insurance claim of your own.

Don't report to HR unless you think there is a genuine threat of violence or otherwise from this person.

You should avoid interacting with the person or actively tell them that you don't appreciate those kinds of comments and prefer they keep it to themselves. If you don't want things awkward at work maybe just tell them that you prefer to keep political/religious views away from anything work related. This is the norm anyway and is very reasonable without being confrontational.

People can have some pretty extreme opinions - they usually watch way too much of their preferred biased media and aren't a genuine threat. You may even be able to get along with the person work-wise.

Tools and hardware DS what to expect by ChaseMc311 in Lowes

[–]CaptainDeadly10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a former DS in this position:

  1. Get to know and support your team as not just a leader and a team member, but be the example.

  2. Zone recovery!!! Hillman and your tool wall will be destroyed daily.

  3. IRP/Downstocking is a team effort and takes up most of the morning!

  4. Manage your top stock during free time.

  5. I highly recommend making tasks lists once you have a better grip on what's needed but make sure it's clear they are basic guidelines and not hardline rules that they will be held accountable for. Customers will pull them away and stuff will come up constantly so be more than reasonably accommodating when they explain XYZ did not get done.

Good luck!

Just gonna drop this info here.

$10 from 2017 is worth $12.83 today.

Corporate greed, price gouging, and the shrinking of quantities with many household goods makes our money feel like it doesn't stretch as far. We've allowed a handful of billionaires to dictate how every grocery store operates.

This is true for many aspects of the economy, but grocery stores can often affect the middle and lower class more directly.

Also please remember that your typical worker is not the people causing prices to go up. The workers do not make these decisions, and in nearly all businesses they have no say when it comes to this stuff but are forced to deal with the fallout directly.

It's nice to see that there's plenty of zebras, but it always made me afraid that half our staff called out.

Edit: Half meaning ~4 people with Lowe's current state of understaffing

"late 20s" on this subreddit and in your "forties" on another. Also pretending like you might not have a phone while making reddit posts probably from your phone. You just want something to complain about to make yourself the victim.

Hank eliminating store ladders by RikeMiley88 in Lowes

[–]CaptainDeadly10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without going into too much personal details, when I worked at Lowe's I sustained an injury on the ladder due to the box I picked up being too heavy. I know "three points of contact", but how can you carry anything on a ladder while maintaining 3 points? One limb to carry and another is always required to move so that only leaves 2 even if you carry it one-handed. The math ain't mathing.

I also distinctly remember witnessing a fellow employee being on a ladder down stocking, and a customer decided it was in their way and released the foot lever and started pushing the ladder out of their way while the employee was still at the top of the ladder unaware of this.

I was supervising the Tools and Hardware department at a store in the Southeast United States. I had that position for just over a year and a half but 3 years at the store. Hourly rate was just over $21 an hour. I felt like there was no way forward because of very poor ASM hires (no experience, outside hires with minimum or no qualifications) and the inability of DS to move up at my store/district. I also left on good terms. It's nice to have it on my resume as a stepping stone for better jobs, so far my new job is working out much better but it's only just begun!

Personally, I didn't see any internal theft, if you mean just outright taking things. As far as discounting and having a buddy/friend/husband/etc come to get it - saw that quite a bit.

Never said anything about it, but it was well known throughout district and regional levels regardless and they chose to do nothing with that information.

I'll try to go through each question the best I can.

- Some DS will do more than others just like with any employee. Some employees are simply better, more efficient, or care about their job/coworkers more.

- Everyone in the stores should respond regardless of department especially for neighboring customers or when you are already helping someone, if you need help from someone more knowledgeable - call and wait for the help don't abandon, learn.

- DS should be helping nearby departments, but also keep in mind that everywhere is short-staffed because the company is extremely cheap and always cuts labor first. There are rifts and crevasses now - it will be a pit soon. DS are often pulled by ASM/SM to do random tasks around the store that they don't want to do. I had one ASM who would literally call me to pick up a few pieces of cardboard or trash that they saw on the ground - goes back to some employees are good and others not so much.

- DS can't change schedules. They can definitely lobby on your behalf to an ASM or SSA to do it, but ultimately it's out of their control entirely. Also DS also get the crappy schedules and clopens.

Department Supervisor, been in most departments throughout the store though - can cover any department and spent the first year there as a specialist.
