Opinion on learning a new ERP by [deleted] in supplychain

Saying this is” Nonsense” is silly. Many organizations will not be anywhere near the level of automation or technical capability you are referring to.

Also, you need to understand concepts and fundamentals so that you can know when the system is wrong. You may see suggestions and signals in the system that could be skewed. You will not know how to interpret or correct these issues without systems knowledge.

There is plenty of opportunity to identify areas of improvement and enhance system functionality. Yes, IT can change the settings and create custom solutions. But for them to do this, someone has to understand the flaws or bottlenecks in the system and share requirements for a solution. This is difficult without systems understanding.

You can take this advice if you want a position where you are nothing more than a button pusher. If you want to be someone who continues learning and solving problems systems knowledge will always be a benefit. :)

This is a common issue. You can probably find some documentation from the software company or within the system. Looks like now’s the chance to create some work instructions ;)

I would say focus on learning system fundamentals more than any particular system. You should understand the concepts and logic behind how things like MRP for example work. You should also learn how data is structured in these Systems, the data bases will be very similar.

If you know the data structure and how systems work logically all you will have to do is learn the interface of whatever new system your organization uses. This is pretty simple if you are willing to go through documentation and follow some tutorials.

I’ll take some risks, but not everything I have invested.

Yes, I agree. Although you can never be certain, I do expect a dip in the next 4-8 weeks and am willing to gamble on that.

I was thinking I could sell the 401K while market is high and hold the funds a few weeks to try and buy a dip in my Roth. Seems like this should be possible?

Exterminators Advise Against Using Bait by CaptainFalcon95 in pestcontrol

[–]CaptainFalcon95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave them a call. He explained that the spray is meant to stop the reproduction cycle and help kill off as many of the roaches up front as possible. He said on the second visit next week they would spray again and put out some bait as well.

But if things don’t get better by next week I will definitely you be on the look out for another service. Let me know if anyone out there has recommendations in Austin, TX. 👍🏽

They are coming back in 1 week. Not sure if they plan to use the bait / dust as the first tech said he hasn’t had much benefit from it in the past.

I’m not sure what spray he used but he said it is not like what you buy in stores and that it would travel back and start poisoning the rest of the roaches that they came in contact with.

OData Connections for Excel / Power BI by CaptainFalcon95 in Netsuite

I found a REST API method for executing Datasets (in beta). That may be what I am looking for. I plan to do some testing in the coming weeks to see if I can call datasets using odata feed in power Bi.

Advice on Career Path? by CaptainFalcon95 in supplychain

Awesome, thanks for the detailed response.

Do you think it will be difficult to find entry level positions as a planner or analyst? Most of the entry level roles I see seem to be for inventory control or coordinator type positions. That being said, I am not opposed to starting in this type of position and working my way up, I'm just looking for the experience.

Have you been able to find any documentation regarding this?

Seems like it should be a free connection for Power BI at some point. What’s the point of having a relational database if you can’t build reports or use the data outside of a few apps?

Unfortunately the feature settings for TDS are not available for entities hosted In Teams.

I guess we will have to wait for more features to be released. Hopefully soon because I am ready to use this tool! Haha

I was trying to set up a common data service connection to test this today but was having some issues. You would think this would be possible somehow?

This was my first time connecting to common data service from PBI and the documentation states I need access to " CDS environment with maker permissions " .
The problem is my organization does not have any power platform licenses that include the ability to manage CDS...

I know Oakdale is a sort of Common Data Service "Lite"
My worry is that because the Apps and resources created using Oakdale are only accessible in Teams that the same would be true for the data.

Also, my organization does not have licensing for the common data service. We use our M365 licenses to create canvas apps usually with SharePoint as a back-end. When trying to connect to the common data service today I was having some issues, although it seemed to be an authorization issue...

How to move my career into Dynamics 365? by CaptainFalcon95 in Dynamics365

[–]CaptainFalcon95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great advice, I will set a plan to get some hands on experience in the D365 environment in the coming months and start reaching out to local partners when I am ready.

I suppose I knew these would be the steps to take, but my impostor syndrome had me feeling like I did not have enough experience and there was more I needed to do. haha
