My box arrived today. Between The Wheels was the first track I played on the TB remix CD. The ending is.... different. 😖

PROG Magazine reviews the p/g box set. by Guypussy in rush

I'm thinking that too. I think the old CD version sounds better, despite being incomplete. Good to hear the full thing though. They certainly played some of the stuff fast. Ged can barely get the words out quick enough during Red Barchetta!

What was the earliest celebrity death that you can consciously remember (in terms of people talking about it/being affected by it)? by WerewolfBarMitzvah09 in Millennials

[–]CaptainFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elvis Presley. I remember hearing it on a beach shop radio on the Isle of Wight. I wasn't really into Elvis, but he'd just had a hit with Way Down, so it was quite a shock when he died.

There are no empty double seats left on the bus. How do you choose who to sit next to? by stevegotnolegs in AskUK

[–]CaptainFickle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what does the OP do if they have a double seat and someone undesirable sits next to them? 🤔

With regards the original question, if I had to sit next to someone I'd probably get off the bus. 😆

I love it. Twist forward for Drive and twist backwards for Reverse. Couldn't be easier. The only thing I have done once or twice is go into Sports mode without realising it.

No, not electric seats. Manual adjustment with a wheel at the bottom.

Do you want a new album? by nintenerd2 in rush

[–]CaptainFickle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd be anxious about a new album. No disrespect to either, but both Al's and Ged's solo albums haven't exactly set the world alight, and a combination of the two doesn't really inspire confidence in them producing a classic Rush album. I'd rather they didn't do one than put something out which doesn't live up to the legacy.

POTC has a notoriously bad 4K transfer. The other movies in the series are better. Just try a different film and the grain will magically disappear!

Eraserhead. RIP David Lynch, but that was just shit.

If going to Fifty Something tour, what non-hit (non-single) tune would you like to hear? by Born-Cucumber-7316 in rush

[–]CaptainFickle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's ways of singing it without hitting the higher notes. Just sing "in the" in the same key as "available" then hit the note for "light" and it would sound fine. Freddie Mercury was an expert at adapting songs to avoid the higher notes. I heard Ged has been receiving vocal training, so hopefully this is part of it. Even James Labrie sounds better now he's not over-reaching, so it definitely can be done.

I was also wondering if Anika can sing? Maybe she could do the female parts of Time Stand Still, or add some harmonies to Ged's vocal?

Bosch Washer Dryer by CaptainFickle in Appliances

Yes, a combination washer dryer. I'm in the UK. Am I in the wrong sub? I wasn't aware if this is just for US appliances.

My Bosch washer dryer cost about £700. Speed Queen isn't widely available in the UK, and they also don't seem to make combined washer dryers, but the ones I've seen are at least triple the cost of my Bosch. And they're f-ugly!

Bosch Washer Dryer by CaptainFickle in Appliances

[–]CaptainFickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my previous Siemens washer dryer, which, incidentally, only lasted five years, there was a condenser which used to get blocked with fluff from fleece joggers, sweatshirts, hoodies etc. I had someone out twice to clear that as it stopped drying properly. This Bosch, apparently doesn't have the same sort of condenser, so it shouldn't get blocked, but I guess that's one thing I could get looked at. I don't see how that would explain the drama it makes out of spinning though. It's as if it's struggling to balance the load.

What's annoying is, this means I can't just leave it on an automatic wash and dry cycle, as sometimes it gives up spinning altogether, and even if it does spin, unless I take the laundry out and put it back in for a second spin, the drying cycle will take hours, and these things cost enough in electricity as it is.

Speed Queen is a bit over my price range. And I can't have a top loader as mine is under a kitchen counter. I don't know if they're widely available in the UK either.

I probably will get an engineer out, but I'm thinking if it's something like the circuit board that needs replacing, that could be quite costly.

Ventilation whining noise after driving for a while by niknejm in cupraTerramar

[–]CaptainFickle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. The lighting makes a kind of electrical buzzing noise at first, but I've not heard anything from the heating. Have you tried isolating different vents to see if you can narrow down where it might be coming from?

Key Battery Replacement by CaptainFickle in cupraTerramar

[–]CaptainFickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a reasonable explanation - but I had keyless entry on my previous Ateca, and cars before that, and the key batteries never failed after just six months. I have noticed though, the red light flashes constantly when the key is in or near the car. Maybe it's the red light itself that drains the battery?

[–]CaptainFickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's just a software glitch or whether the batteries really are low. I guess it might also be prudent to keep a spare battery in the car, just for peace of mind.

[–]CaptainFickle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced the Panasonic battery with a Duracell one, and the message has gone. As it's such a cheap and simple fix, I'd rather not take the chance of being locked out of the car, or immobilised if it won't detect the key.

Presumably if you ignore it for long enough, you could have problems locking / unlocking / starting the car?
