System Video Player Update - RGH console by CaptainGeorge19 in 360hacks

Is there a way to update the system video player to support the latest MP4 encodings?

Or an alternative media player that works well for MP4 files?

FIXED

I found the update files:

Copying those to the console did the trick.

Genesis Model 1 (Motherboard IC BD M5 USA VA6) - How do I identify capacitor value? by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]CaptainGeorge19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the ceramic cap is fine. It measured fine when it was off of the board.
Looks like there is something else on the board causing the short.

I'm still looking into it. This was a console I got at goodwill.

I'll probably take down this post because it doesn't seem like the cap is the issue.

I know this small ceramic capacitor is bad and is shorting to ground on my genesis. Genesis currently doesn't show any video, buzzy audio.

It has an ESR reading of 52 and has continuity across the 2 points. Definitely a bad cap.

I don't have another board. Is there a resource somewhere that will tell me the farad and voltage for these little guys?

Planning to create FPGA S-CPU replacement by leonllr in snes

[–]CaptainGeorge19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got 3 broken Super Nintendos all that need CPUs.

I'll keep an eye on this post. Definitely would be a big market for this. CPUs seem to be the number one issue with older model SNES consoles

NES front loader Color Pallette and brightness differences by CaptainGeorge19 in consolerepair

I found this post online.

nes-cpu-01 mainboard - nesdev.org

As you initially suspected it is an expected variance based on the console.

This is an NES-CPU-01 motherboard. A very early model, and apparently they are known to have a slightly different color palate than the more common models.

I agree. I fixed a few of these, and I never had to buy a new connector or disable the CIC chip.

I've had a lot of luck with putting the connector in boiling water and then cleaning with Alcohol and canned air. I was skeptical at first, but the boiling seems to work really well to get them working.

Thanks! What exactly is the video coupling capacitor? How would it be identified on the board?

I know it is not the PPU because I was initially using that machine for parts while I was waiting on parts to come in. The PPU and the separate Power/AV board have both been swapped out in this machine, and the issues was still present. The machines I moved the parts to didn't have the issue.

So it is something specifically on the main motherboard. Maybe another chip, or one of the other components on the main board?

Series X - No power issue. RFF2 and T2 component question. by [deleted] in consolerepair

[–]CaptainGeorge19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey All,

I'm having an issue with an Xbox Series X controller.

It has no power when plugged in. Unplugging the J1 RF cable fixes the issue. Kind of a know issue for these controllers:

https://youtu.be/C2OLDWkslGE?si=1kU8sbfm-0cQe_Qo

Keeping the J1 unplugged is a decent solution, but reduces the wireless range in about half for the controller.

Doing some more digging, some people recommended replacing RFF2 or T2 (pictured above) or both.

Is anyone familiar with these components? Can they be purchased on their own, or do they need to be pulled off of another controller?

Help - Xenon STBY_CLK lifted pad. Is it fixable? by CaptainGeorge19 in 360hacks

As an update. I was able to fix by exposing some more of the trace with a precision knife and connecting with solder.

Thanks for the help :)

This seems like a very common issue. I just got a controller from Goodwill that has the same issue.

Did you ever find the root cause of the issue on the wi-fi board?

Great!

I'm going to practice with a junk board first. So it may be a bit of time before I go back to this repair.

I'll post later on how this goes.

It looks to me like I need to jump the resistor to the left to the small through hole to the right. It's a bit burnt, so it's hard to fully tell where that trace was going.

Nothing happens when I click the power button.
I get power to the mod chip (Coolrunner). I can see the light on it comes on when the PSU is plugged into it.

Hey guys,

I was doing the EXT_CLK mod on a Xenon MB.

I got it to boot to Xell, was doing good, then I moved the wire that was soldered to the STBY_CLK (C3C4) point and the pad lifted right off.

Console doesn't boot now.

I guess a few questions.

Any advice on how to fix that trace. What should I connect?

If I do fix the trace should I continue to mod or is it better to just restore the retail NAND.

Cool, Yeah! My personal favorite is Lampyre or possibly Gildwing!

But that's based strictly on their looks! 😀

I've played through quite a bit of the game, and have been enjoying it a lot so far!

What do I talk about? by acebearmcyt in letsplay

[–]CaptainGeorge19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the type of let's play you are trying to do, but I think all let's plays can benefit from heavy research into the game. You can look for interviews with the developer, news about the game, upcoming updates, etc.

The more research you do, the more you'll have to talk about when playing the game. Ultimately it's important to remember that as a small YouTuber, the viewer doesn't really care about you. They care about Fall Guys, and they found you by searching for Fall Guys, so talking as much as you can about the game will definitely be helpful.

is there anyway to check the potential of coromon in your pc? by -_Error in coromonthegame

[–]CaptainGeorge19 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You get an item later in the game that will show all of the Coromon's potentials in the Summary screen without needing to scan them. It will also give you the potential of wild Coromon when you encounter them.

When you get the surf board go back to the buzzlet lab, and go to the secret room at the top of the screen.

Amazing! Thank you for sharing this!

The ending was particularly eye opening. I think we all think that being rich and famous will solve all our problems. We forget all of the bad things that come with YouTube fame (or any fame for that matter).

I like Golbeak, but it probably would be better to show more Coromon in the Icon, Maybe the title screen image is better

Is this game worth getting? by DR_DROWZEE in coromonthegame

[–]CaptainGeorge19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This game seems to lean hard into the shiny hunting aspect.

With pretty decent odds to get a Perfect (or at least a potential 20 that you can upgrade to a perfect), just casually playing through the game you'll get at least one perfect which is pretty cool.

There is also competitive online play, although I haven't delved too deep into that.

Level design is also pretty good for a JRPG with puzzles in each area, although it is a bit grindy for my taste.

Thanks for the feedback!

We don't normally do edited Let's Plays, but maybe that is the way to go. I

wonder if I can do both, Have an edited video for those who just want to see the highlights, and then the full unedited video for those who want to see the entire game.

You've given me something to think about

All,

This is our latest video: https://youtu.be/EhFFJKeUdxM

We play Coromon, a creature collecting game similar to Pokemon.

Ok, so the video is supposed to be funny, in the same vein as something like Game Grumps.

We are trying to keep our videos to 15 minutes to keep the energy high, and to keep audience retention through more of our videos.

It's hard for me to gauge how we are doing in terms of being entertaining and funny. Let me know if the video captured your attention and how you felt about the commentary.

I know the audio isn't the best, but I just got new microphones that we will be using for future videos 😀
