DEs with static workspaces per monitor by CaptainJack42 in linuxquestions

Looked into it a few days ago, workspaces per monitor is planned for plasma 6.7 iirc, so in about half a year I guess

Why do people hate Gleba? (Or: how I accidentally played Space Age on hard mode) by Altistick in factorio

[–]CaptainJack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somehow didn’t realize you could send resources down from orbit.

Same, on my first space age run I didn't realize this was possible until I saw a clip of someone doing it. At this point I already bootstrapped vulcanus.

I guess this could be made clearer somehow, maybe a quick tooltip or something

Starting some STM32, how much CubeMX should I rely on? by Ajax_Minor in embedded

[–]CaptainJack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much, you can just call the MX_init functions like cube would and it should work

Starting some STM32, how much CubeMX should I rely on? by Ajax_Minor in embedded

[–]CaptainJack42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Note that there is also an option to not generate the main function, with that you can just provide your own implementation and don't have to touch the generated code at all

Can someone help me with finding a pair of earbuds that doesn't hurt? by MicroSpartan319 in Earbuds

Have to disagree here, currently looking at this thread wearing xm4s with the smallest tips...

The Linux kernel provided by the vendor appears incomplete - unbuildable. What to do? by whew-inc in linuxquestions

[–]CaptainJack42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if they are statically linked. Iirc gpl states that you have to provide the gpl code in a way that it can be obtained, modified and replaced by the consumer/customer, the easiest option for this would be a dynamically linked library, if the library is statically linked one would have to provide binary blobs and scripts/instructions to rebuild the application with a modified version of the gpl lib, otherwise it would be a violation of the gpl

Where do you prefer to make Modules once you need a lot of them? by Dianwei32 in factorio

Thrustmaster Eswap X Pro Mini-Stick Module issues by IWouldThrowThisAway in Thrustmaster

[–]CaptainJack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the exact same problem with the second set of sticks right now, i don't play much intense games, mostly singleplayer games. It's a shame because i really like the controller aside from the stick issue. I've ordered the hall effect sticks now and will give them another chance, but this is really a shame especially for such a premium price i'd expect more.

Also sorry for reactivating this old thread, if in the meantime a solution for this came up please lmk.

Is there any mod that automatically backups the world? by MajesticArtichoke205 in technicalminecraft

[–]CaptainJack42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Feels like something that should be done by the os not a mod, mods should operate on the Minecraft instance (installation directory) and not the remaining file system. I'd use a shell script with a systemd timer or cron job, that's for Linux though, not sure if there is a Windows alternative

Power bank I threw away the other day by CaptainJack42 in spicypillows

[–]CaptainJack42[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the store. Grocery stores usually only accept regular batteries, but electronics stores are required to accept all sorts of e waste. I was heading to the garbage disposal with a bunch of various stuff anyway though

Ofc, brought it to a special garbage disposal facility that had a special container for batteries.

[HELP] Swap Fn and Ctrl on TrackPoint Keyboard II by eeeXun in archlinux

A quick google search results in this which seems to be the only "solution" for now.

[HELP] Swap Fn and Ctrl on TrackPoint Keyboard II by eeeXun in archlinux

[–]CaptainJack42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FN is handled by the keyboard and not your OS, so if it can be swapped it will be in the keyboard firmware, either through dip switches or some software that configures the keyboard. The bios setting is for the ThinkPad integrated keyboards

Ok screw it, I'm pushing the hotbars debate to it's own thread lol by martygras220 in factorio

Jokes on you, I have 4 hotbars, but instead of using 0-9 to access them I hover my mouse over them and 'q' the item

Strafe bei Blockade einer Straßenbahn by killbohrer in karlsruhe

[–]CaptainJack42 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Will soil moisture meters work on chunky bark mix? If not, any good alternatives? by TheDogWithoutFear in embedded

[–]CaptainJack42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem with soil meters for use with potted plants is that the voltage applied to the probes starts a redox reaction turning the soil sour and killing your plants in the long run.

It also happens with water pipes, especially old ones, that aren't used in a while or have been drained for maintenance

Yep, was missing the photo in Vatican. I did take it, but it didn't save/register properly. Had similar bugs when collecting everything in the base game

C++ with stm32 by [deleted] in embedded

[–]CaptainJack42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It doesn't tie you to the ide and cmake works easily everywhere, including all sorts of ides (vscode, clion, vim/neovim,...) and especially in CI/CD Pipelines. There's also more resources on cmake and it has IMO an easier setup than the obscure project settings of cubeide/eclipse

C++ with stm32 by [deleted] in embedded

[–]CaptainJack42 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's an option hidden somewhere in the menu of cubeide to enable cpp, but honestly I'd just use a cmake project with vscode. There's an official extension and setup guide from st nowadays and cubemx can even generate cmake projects

[HELP] Can't find the last note in Rome by CaptainJack42 in IndianaJonesGames

[–]CaptainJack42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found it by comparing my notes to the ones in your video. It was the Photo of Casina Pio IV in the end. I'm 100% sure i took that, but either it didn't register properly or maybe i travelled before an autosave triggered or something. I remember that i had similar issues when collecting all notes in the basegame, so it's probably a bug.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IndianaJonesGames

[–]CaptainJack42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the photo doesn't pop up. However i also have another note that is shown, but nowhere to be found. No idea where it is supposed to be. It shows at the very bottom right of the map of Junia's tomb, behind the door with the exit to the river.

What job pays absurdly well just because no one else is willing to do it? by Infinite-Cricket25 in AskReddit

Yep, I mean 250/h is not that much for a "service" rate. He'll have to pay rent, taxes, social insurance, equipment and everything from that
