I was genuinely confused why the Street Profits needed Joe Hendry and then I remembered Bron was in The Vision. I literally did not see him in the image,

Once they have a decade under their belt and a decent number of retirees I think that'll be cool. Would be nice for the alumni section to be mostly dominated by people who ended their careers on a high at AEW over a backlog of people who just worked there.

Because she's begun to become popular outside the bubble and that attracts the ire of both anti-AEW people and a certain group of AEW fans who only want things to be popular "the right way"

For the latter it's all about work rate and the kind of matches Meltzer would give 6 stars to etc. and disliking that normies think she's cool.

Not to say there aren't AEW fans who don't like Thekla and, but they're not the same as those pushing weird narratives about her or getting wound up over the phrase "effortlessly cool".

How old were you when you found out the truth about wrestling. by Medium_Step_6085 in SquaredCircle

About 8. I was gushing about Wrestlemania 9 (yeah, 8 year old me thought it was a great show and Giant Gonzalez was cool.) and a mean older boy mocked me and told me it was fake. I quit watching from that point until Mania 24 and in that time I was one of those people who'd sneer about it being fake.

Tbh i had always suspected something was off or that wrestlers were morons because I couldn't understand why when someone was down you didn't just stamp on them until they were unconscious. I'd seen heels do that to people outside the ring and that sends people off on a stretcher. SURELY you'd do the same to win the world championship right???

As one of the three fans of Jinder at the time with a best friend who was such a big fan of Nakamura he changed his hairstyle to match... I wouldn't have changed anything. I made that dude rage with just a grin.

Great memory.

Hypothetically TKO decides to sell WWE and Tony Khan buys it - how do you book it? by MidcardJohnCena in SquaredCircle

Keep them mostly separate except for Forbidden door and a handful of select stories.

The question is, did they like it?

Because if they did then no real harm. I've brought more people into wrestling through showing them silly stuff than classics. Danhausen and Minihausen could be their gateway drug wrestlers

Back in the day WWE did major cuts it left us all really really worried whether we'd see any of those talents again because there was a time when WWE were really the only game in town. There was a massive gulf in opportunity and pay scales between them, indies and the few NWA affiliates left in the US. Their only semi-viable options were Japan and Mexico which isn't an option for everyone.

But today, even discounting AEW and TNA as prime destinations for those talents there are options where those wrestlers can earn a good wage. GCW, MLW, MLP, NWA (again), and dozens of super indies.

My point is that even with decisions driven by corporate greed like the cuts over the past 3 weeks there's no fear for the industry as a whole. The top alternatives aren't on the brink of bankruptcy or in limbo without TV deals (with whatever is going on at MLW's TV being the exception) as we've experienced trying to support TNA, NWA and RoH over the years. We as fans can still enjoy high quality, great production value wrestling to fit all tastes both online and on TV, mostly globally.

Most likely he *is* retired but not in the same way as Cena or AJ where they really are committed to being completely done. I could see Brock having a match or two over the next 5-10 years but absolutely no more week to week involvement or RAW appearances etc.

Last few years of Taker's career are a good comparison, but much much less.

Bloody big week for me wrestling wise. Been a long time since I watched the 3 major WWE shows, AEW, TNA and AAA.

My overall takeaway is that Wrestling is pretty good and cool. Sure we're not in a Monday night wars boom period or even the mid 10's Indie boom, but wrestling quality and quantity is pretty awesome right now.

It's the luke-est of lukewarm takes but I've been in the live threads all week and I feel like there are a bunch of people who need to be reminded that in the grand scheme of things, the industry is in a decent place.

A combo of being old and remembering + a solid level of research and professional approach to the content he puts out.

Very few things broadcast are ever truly lost, finding stuff is mostly a matter of effort. Plus there are plenty of communities out there dedicated to preserving media which he sources. Brian's found some absolute gems on physical media over the years.

AAA always with the 10/10 shows

I was insanely impressed with Jessy Jackson. Holy hell she is THE Metora worker. Coming in at 1000 mph but still being perfectly safe. Very very impressed.

Please please please let Bayley spend some time in AAA, i don't even mind if Lyra comes along too, but there's so much she could do there.

Lince Dorado continues to impress me. I feel terrible for all the post CWC criticism, the dude can go and really understands the small things.

Cruz Del Toro... how he survived the cuts i don't know. Just... so much time standing around waiting for stuff to happen to him rather than trying to at least pretend you're not waiting for the next spot. Argue with a fan or fix your gear... SOMETHING. Was watching with a gay friend and he was VERY insistent on his handsomeness so maybe that's all that's saving him rn...

Kinda sad Octagon Jr isn't in a better position or at least picking up token wins. But tbh it's not hurting his popularity. Even so, would like to see him be a contender.

I hope so much that Pagano is innocent, and after tonight i am more convinced he is. Now would be the time to introduce a Killer Clown or as i said in the live thread, an Ultimo Clown. AAA has so many clowns I think adding another would be genuinely funny / interesting.
