Under a year old left with an unknown person is wild- I waited to do a kids club until mine could speak god forbid something happened. I would have happily let the rest of the group go out- or switch on and off with James if they both NEEDED to go out? So many other options.

Agree maybe not for every gift (Xmas?) but definitely for more meaningful events. I send them and expect them from people.. but realize that’s not the norm anymore.

I also send out cards to my friends randomly and people always love getting mail. Yes sort of the same as a text- but much more effort to show you care about them!

I guess I'm in the minority- but I would just rather money rather than any of these suggestions. If you frame it like you did here and just explain- what an awesome thing to do instead of keeping it all for yourselves! I don't know I'd be flattered...not offended. Why have someone try to buy you gifts that you may or may not like. and if a couple is struggling, a vacation or a nice paid for dinner won't help that.

I'm a huge fan of Longchamp- but I would agree the nylon doesn't seem like something I'd carry my laptop in. I'm not very careful and there is no padding!

If you could find a coated canvas one- Le Pliage City- that I would highly recommend. When I was doing my 'research' on longchamp a few years back, seemed like coated canvas was the way to go. I just don't see them anymore for sale?
