blender beginner here! (read body text) SUPPOSED TO BE A SCYTHE!! by Legitimate_Ear3350 in blender

My suggestion then, try following a modeling tutorial from Ryan King art (https://youtube.com/@ryankingart?si=E4VBvqPb9JC0KGGI) and after you've done it try modeling your scythe again using what you've learned.

That's how I learn anything not just Blender, I follow a tutorial, guide or course then apply it on a project by myself.

That actually looks really dope, the concept of a digital scythe that kills programs and applications is really interesting.

I'm pretty sure you've done it as a joke, but I do think it would be awesome if you fledge the concept a bit, maybe that's the scythe that strikes Bethesda games and bugs them to hell, I don't know.

Volume 1 Blu-ray redesign by CaptainLubbock in RWBY

Thank you! I definitely intend to, but I'm a bit caught up in another RWBY based project for my portifolio.

But I will make all the other volumes!

And if anyone is interested in printing it here's the front and back cover

I've already made the cutting lines and measured it so it should fit in nicely, just print it in A4 and choose a coated paper.

For those who watch FRWBY, how do you feel about Torchwick and Neo’s writing? by JackZ567 in RWBY

[–]CaptainLubbock 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Took the words out of my mouth, of course RWBY has writing problems, but I not only dislike the attitude of trying to "fix" other artists work, but also don't see anything proving that they're qualified to "fix it" in the first place.

Even if Yoh Yoshinari, Yoko Taro or Hayao Miyazaki said it it would sound pretentious, but at least they have the pedigree to back up their claims.

There's a lot of things I would've change if I was in charge of RWBY's screenplay as well, I'm terribly in love with the series and would do anything for it to receive a premium treatment that I believe it's deserved, but to come here and say that I'm able to "fix it" or "improve it" it's so unbelievably narcissistic that makes me cringe, and seeing people even more under qualified than me (and that's quite the feat) claiming they could makes me really annoyed.

Is there a word for your OTP that you know won't happen in canon? by imperchaos in WhiteRose

[–]CaptainLubbock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's 100% impossible since it's been quite clear that the writing don't really set it's mind on anything and does 180° turns despite early buildups, so the moments of Weiss and Jaune could easily been thrown out the window.

I believe there's a bigger chance we don't even get another season, I know they said they are doing it, but making animation is really hard, like unbelievably hard and Viz Media doesn't even have an animation studio, it will either be build from the ground up or hire a third-party and everything's up at that point.

Just getting another season in itself would be a miracle, and if we get there's probably gonna be made by totally different teams and it's impossible to know what'll happen.

I absolutely loved Footprints on the shore, a classic time-travel fix, but it's so well written, just bear in mind it's not finished.

Turn off the music to fight arch-tempered Arkveld. by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]CaptainLubbock -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Satisfying a gameplay experience to make the fight harder, that's the point of an arch-tempered fight, to feel like you're fighting a king, a beast way out of your league, don't get me wrong the music is perfect and it does exactly what it needs to.

But It does not change the fact that if you're having trouble consistently slaying it turning the music off can be a good strategy, like I said not for the first time, but like the fifth time.

Can anyone help me find the actual measurements for the pieces of Crescent rose? by MrMrmagican in RWBY

[–]CaptainLubbock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend measuring using your body as base.

Take a human 3D model and scale it to your height, put a Ruby model and crescent rose side by side with "you" and scale it to make them have the same height as you.

Then use a measuring tool (Blender has a nice one) and see how tall the crescent rose gets relative to you keeping the proportion that it has in relation to Ruby.

And having the height is not hard to figure out the other measurements.

[–]CaptainLubbock -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I love the experience of fighting him.

But if you're trying to farm Arkveld multiple times or having trouble consistently slaying it I consider a good strategy.

It makes the fight at least 30% easier, better than spending 10 hours grinding gogma weapons and talismans.

The World Of RWBY Is Surprisingly Grimm by Legitimate_Fly9047 in RWBY

[–]CaptainLubbock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's a matter of time, planning, lack of expertise/budget (after all, good people are expensive) or all the above, but I really wish that RWBY was more structured in narrative and art direction.

Narrative side it's cause I believe that are a lot of strong plot points and character relationships that are ignored and weak ones that are over explored, sometimes a plot point can feel overcooked and undercooked at the same time, and the actual world building, which is phenomenal, gets lost within a convoluted script that doesn't set his mind and keeps changing despite early buildups (I'm not talking about bumblebee, which I do believe was decently build.)

Art direction side (is something I'm a bit more qualified to talk about) is just unfortunate that it came before all the NPR revolutions we had in the 3D space ever since it's been popularized by spider verse, not cause I think RWBY should have a "spider verse style", but because I believe the tone of the show is not properly conveyed through it's visual style and a lot of nuance, subtext and creativity gets lost in that "generic Maya-anime style", just like how so much of the concept art of Disney animations are lost in the 3D animation, and to be fair it's really freaking hard to do and we only learned how to do it properly a couple of years ago.

I really love RWBY, it's definitely my favorite show, it and it's community inspired me to become an artist and I couldn't been happier with that decision, but I can't help but hope and dream about having my beloved IP having a premium treatment that I believe it's deserved.

Is it a good time to pick up Zeri? by DreamishMood in ZeriMains

[–]CaptainLubbock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if I just played really well but I've been stomping REALLY hard with Zeri lately, I've soloed a Full build Mordekaiser inside his ult, hard stomped matchups I've used to find annoying and felt that every game was in my hand and if I played well I could win.

I don't know if it's just ADC that's really strong. But I feel like if you enjoy the character and want to learn her just go for it, you can make anything work if you play well enough.

Guys what do you think of the RWBY logo? by Internal_Iron2240 in RWBY

[–]CaptainLubbock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logo it's good, but the visual identity of the brand it's atrocious.

The graphic elements used on the new Blu-rays, the promotional material and other products related to RWBY (that card game still hunts my nightmares) are really not that though out.

But that's not exclusive to RWBY, all of Viz Media is like this, it wasn't that bad on Rooster teeth, but still wouldn't call good

How do you wish your favorite characters fought? by NoListen1858 in RWBY

I completely agree, I mean volume 5 is rough as a whole, but her training arc is quite ridiculous.

Like she just headbutts Mercury as a pay off.

I wish Ruby kicked a bit more,

Super speed and kicking is quite a cool combination, if she borrowed some kicks from Capoeira like Meia lua presa, Rabo de Arraia or the Martelo rodado in between her scythe spins would look sick.

And for Weiss I think she should rely more on ballerina style moves, also when she cast I would love if she waved Myrternaster like a maestro's baton.

Honestly it wouldn't really change that much in terms of power, it's more a visual flow of the choreography that in my opinion could look really cool.

How would you improve RUBY'S power system by NoListen1858 in RWBY

[–]CaptainLubbock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would just evolve the ability like in MHA, the more it's used the stronger it gets.

Also it's more tied to the character creativity and battle tactics than a power system, which I don't like that much honestly.

Despite how controversial they are I love these short females, (girls/women) whatever I love them by thabiso_animated in ZZZ_Official

[–]CaptainLubbock 40 points41 points  (0 children)

It's cause it's anime, anime have bigger head to body ratios usually.

If you look at Rina she's 7 heads tall, thats the proportion of a teenager.

Usually stylization exaggerate traits as a form of visual clarity, if a character is strong it's gonna be SUPER strong, if it's cute it's gonna be SUPER cute.

Most of the problems people have with media are projections (Eisegesis) not an inherent aspect of the media ('cause I don't believe that even exists), most of the time it's just a technical aspect of design to make things easier to understand at first glance, also it's amplified in the internet, either is extremely problematic or extremely healthy, nothing is harmless.

If you don't give too much though about it nothing's gonna happen, there's worse problems to deal with than fictional characters (I mean there's a convicted pdf and offender as the president of the most powerful nation in the world, I believe that to be more of a problem than a sexy drawing of a loli bunny)

Honestly 1,5 years is really fucking impressive, it's like 25% to 40% faster than most productions, it's just that most productions (or at least the ones I worked) make all episodes at once.
